On September 1, I purchased a supplement for $34 with free shipping from the Lucky Vitamin site after carefully reading the list of ingredients for the product posted on the site. I received a package on 9-5. I immediately noticed that I received a product with another name and different ingredients, although the packing slip states I received the item I ordered.

I learned from the manufacturer's site that the product I ordered is no longer available, yet Lucky Vitamin is listing the old product on its site and using the old product name on its invoicing while shipping the new product, which has a new name and new ingredients. This is false advertising and misrepresentation.

I immediately emailed Lucky Vitamin telling them of their misrepresentation and false advertising. Their website clearly says "No sweat, all products – opened or not – can be returned for any reason. Send the items back to us within 90 days and we'll refund your money…Once we receive the package, we'll refund you via the same method of payment with which you paid. You will receive the full purchase price of your product minus any shipping fees (unless of course, it was our error)."

I told Lucky Vitamin, "This is your error in shipping me a product I did not order. I expect you to provide a full refund of $34.00 to me when you receive the returned product plus provide a prepaid shipping label."

I received a prepaid shipping label the next day by email, packaged the supplement & took it to a FedEx drop off site on September 8. FedEx delivered it to Lucky Vitamin on September 11. The next set of problems began on September 14 when Lucky Vitamin gave me a refund of $28.05 after deducting shipping of $5.95. This clearly violates the statement on their site.

Thus began a series of 5 emails from me demanding an additional refund of $5.95 for shipping, which was free to begin with. The replies from Lucky Vitamin employees ranged from I had already gotten a refund, no refunds for shipping are allowed, to a general run-around. With each email I had to send, my frustration and anger at this company for its lack of customer service and business ethics grew and compounded.

For me, it wasn't any longer about $5.95. It was about principles, ethics and doing what's right. Lucky Vitamin violated the promises it made on its site. Finally in my last email sent September 20,15 days after I got the wrong product, I stated that if I didn't get a refund of $5.95 promptly, I would be contacting the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General of their state. I added that Lucky Vitamin had ripped me off and I did not intend to stand for it. The next day I received a refund of the $5.95, but no apology whatsoever from the employee issuing the refund. I find that amazing.

I know this review is long, but I want others to be aware of how Lucky Vitamin treats its customers when it does something wrong. I will not put myself in a position where this could happen again to me.

I have been using Lucky Vitamin for about four years now to order nutritional yeast flakes and other hard to find items like vegan kids chewable vitamins and hair and nail formulas that are free from preservatives and colors, etc. They offer fair prices and usually have items in stock and ship rapidly, though their packaging often is sparse so things can roll around or get crushed if not in a hard sealed package.
Their website offers list of ingredients and allergen information so it is great if you have food or skin allergies.
Shop around because some of their prices are more expensive than local stores, but mostly they offer good prices and quality items.
Free shipping requires you to spend nearly $50 to get free shipping, which makes you buy things you don't really need at a price you don't really want to pay.
Some of the natural herbal cures do not work worth a flip, but they do allow you to review them. Don't believe all the reviews. I tried a menopausal formula that people raved about and it did not help me in the least.
Also be aware that some of the herbs they sell taste horrible even when encapsulated and have an after taste burp-up that will floor you!
Their recently redesigned website is really harder to navigate than their old one, but if you are looking for detailed information with customer reviews and a wide choice of natural and whole health foods and supplements, they are on an equal footing with other companies and often have slightly better deals.
Beware the bargains though. 25% off of something priced at $30 and valued closer to $8 is NOT a bargain.
Also be careful of dosage size. You may thinkg 8.95 for 30 pills is not bad, but if you have to take three a day for one dose, then 18.95 for one dose in one pill is actually a better bargain... do your math and compare prices and read reviews.

The product I ordered did NOT arrive, BUT Someone Elses order Did. They Wanted me to send Back Wrong Order before sending Correct Order. Not Happening. My Order should be sent First like It SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FIRST PLACE.

NO STARS WARRANTED.

Lucky Vitamin does not package their shipments for real life travel. What's funny to me is that the Shipping Instructions for Returns/Exchange is at a much higher level than the shipments that they send out.

If you order something dry in a plastic bottle, it's OK. I have made two orders now that were liquid and they were both damaged and leaky. This last time, the box was so wet that the tape came off and the package was warped and open. The USPS delivered it in one of their own plastic bins.

Coconut oil
June 6, 2015

I love coconut oil. I use it for numerous purposes: coconut oil pulling to kill bacteria in your mouth and whiten teeth; moisturizing hair and skin; sautéing vegetables; adding to shakes and soups, buttering bread. It can be costly, so when 54 oz. Was offered for $20., I thought how fortuitous (and so did many others as it went out of stock very quickly). Thank you Lucky Vitamins.

If I could give them negative stars I would. On May 23,2015, I placed an order for $150.59 and paid for it via my PayPal account. Five minutes later I called their customer service and cancelled the order and placed a new order for $211.72 because I had forgotten to order something that I needed. It is now 10 days later and I still have not gotten a refund on my money in PayPal for the $150.59 and I called and talked to their customer service department at least 3-4 times and they kept blaming it on PayPal, saying PayPal has to issue the credit, but when I talked to PayPal they say that is not true. I asked for a supervisor at Lucky Vitamin and they were not helpful at all and promised the money would be back in my PayPal account by NO LATER THAN Friday, May 29,2015, but here it is May 30,2015, and no money. So, unfortunately, I had to file a claim against them with PayPal. They really have terrible customer service. Compared to Swanson Vitamins and Vitacost, these people really suck when it comes to taking care of their customers. I buy from Swanson Vitamins and Vitacost all the time because they have awesome discounts. The only reason I bought from Lucky was because they were having a Memorial Day special (not as good as the ones Swanson's and Vitacost were having, but Swanson's and Vitacost don't carry the items I was looking for) and I thought I would give Lucky a try. I am very disappointed that I did and wish I could cancel my other order now. DON'T BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE! They need to learn how to treat their customers better.

Only after placing an order was I informed the item was out of stock. 3 1/2 weeks later I had received only 1 email to notify me that the item was still back ordered. I contacted them 3 times and was told the manufacturer was out of stock, so I contacted the manufacturer. They were not out of stock!
Forwarded manufacture's email to them and requested an explanation - the reply was the same old 'back ordered ' lie and an invitation to cancel the order and find the product elsewhere. By this time I certainly wasn't going to give them my money anyway.

Going Down Hill
January 11, 2015

Going Down Hill. I ordered in the past and always received my order in time. I placed an order and the shipping address was for Nashville TN where I never lived at. Package resent FED EX and it was signed off by someone that is not affiliated with anybody where I live in my apartment complex. I WILL NEVER USE LUCKY VITAMIN!

Terrible customer service and the worst job on packaging the shipment that I've ever seen. Products were literally just thrown in the box and the box was so heavy the tape had come loose. Macaroni was crushed, oil was leaking (that they had charged an extra dollar for shipping), and chia seeds were all over the place. Customer service didn't give a crap though. She just kept putting me on hold, never once said "we're sorry for the inconvenience", or offered to make it right. TERRIBLE company.

Not as fast on the shipping as Vitacost but no complaints on products or customer service from me. The INCREDIBLY ANNOYING things they do marketing-wise is to send way too many emails with deals on stuff you just bought - thanks for nothing. Exactly which idiots are falling for this? This is not the only company that does this but I really hate it and equally hate the amount of time pressure of their other promotions. It's a huge scream to make their time more important than mine. Drop everything and shop or you'll miss out. How rude and insulting. Companies that perpetually make these marketing mistakes just don't understand their customer. I would do ALL of my online supplement shopping with one company if they would only treat me right - and it would cost them so much less. Send me one coupon every 2 weeks for 10 or 15% off MY ORDER so I don't have to work so hard and I'll be happy. They ask for customer loyalty but their customer service only rewards hours of inconvenient price shopping. Hope they spend a lot of money on this...

I ordered some "healthy" skin products while recovering from a bout of infectious facial cellulitis and none of the products (but the soap) were usable, the face makeup was too dry and clogged the pores and was too light in color. I got three of those; also some brow/lid color and that was too smeary-and-stainy, wrong consistency and no brush, and the cheek color barely came out of the container and didn't go on at all, almost hard as a rock, and only the three bars of castille soap were ok, so I returned everything but the soap and should have received maybe 40 in refund (the three soaps were maybe 6 dollars) but they took the whole 50 after they lied and said I opened the other 2 bottles of makeup. But why would anyone do that even if they liked the product. Who opens 3 bottles at once, and the reason they did that was for spite; they didn't like the accurate feedback, smarmy, abusive vindictive company... please avoid them like the plague!

Disappointing company
February 11, 2014

Disappointing company. Sent most of product with less than 90 days dating remaining, compared to typical dating of 9-12 months. Split order into three orders because they were out of product. These orders were filled with product less than 90 days of shelf life. They must be buying distressed product. Would not recommend or use them ever again.

Very disappointed in this site. Yes they do have some of the best prices for name brand supplements but their customer service is horrible so be prepared to lose money if anything goes wrong. I purchased a cleansing powder product to which I had a severe reaction, they would not take it back and it was over $45 ouch! In the past I have been able to return things to Amazon, LEF and Vitacost with no problems at all. In another order with LV I was missing an item in the box, they would not refund for the missing item. Overall, very disorganized company with sucky customer service.

I won't bore you with the details, as we've all unfortunately been through it with these kosher shysters. Here's what I left on their website, which of course will not make it through their censors:

You shysters at "lucky" have the worst "customer service" I've experienced in 2013. Congrats. I'll be reviewing you all over the internet, not to mention adding you to my list of companies to avoid that I keep in the waiting room of my practice. I hope you go out of business in 2014. You deserve it for hiring ignorant, rude morons who delight in pissing off those who pay them.

I love the prices and products. I have ordered once a month for years but they do seem to be slower and there have been mistakes. They make it right and have not cheated me out of my money. I don't know if they are just understaffed and have such a high volume of orders coming in. I order with plenty of product remaining because they don't ship as fast as they used to. I like the discounts and would rather they keep costs and prices down since things are so much cheaper. I will endure a little inconvenience to save money. Typically it arrives within a week.

Have been ordering over $100 worth of stuff a month(sometimes more) for some time now. Never had a prob except it took months to get things backordered. Now however, I can see where all the complaints are coming from. I ordered something a couple of months back and was sent the wrong form. Then last month I reordered it again along with a lot of other stuff. $124 worth. Didn't receive it, nor a reason for the delay. I emailed and they gave me a ticket number which was bogus. Have emailed several times wanting to know where my merchandise was. So far I have been ignored. There are too many companies out there to go through this. I will just find someone else.

I've recently begun working out a lot, so I ordered a lot of protein powder from the site, as it was recommended to me by a friend. I was happy with the service -- the product arrived punctually, and in good condition. I haven't used it up yet, but when I do, I'll most likely order off of this site again (unless I can find it for cheaper.)

I placed an order on May 8,2013 and did not receive the order until May 22,2013. While the product was as expected, the delivery time was not acceptable since the products I ordered were in stock. The site claims items are shipped within 24-48 hours, however the shipment did not arrive at the Fed Ex terminal until May 15. Um, I think that's a little more than 24-48 hours. I probably will not be ordering from them again.

I recently ordered Yogi teas from here for the first time. The prices were excellent compared to where I had been previously buying tea so gave them a shot. They delivered very fast and had no issues so I immediately placed a second order and so far so good. I would recommend it to anyone interested in using organic products, vegan foods, other vitamin products, etc. They send out regular coupons via email which is also very helpful.
