I just found out that all of my documents that were on my Cubby account for many, many years are now gone thanks to LogMeIn! They decided they were not getting enough money from Cubby so simply discontinued the app with a shameful excuse for a warning to it's users. I did not receive an email and the representative for LogMeIn talked about how his dogs lab results were sent to his junk mail so he didn't get them? Is this supposed to make me feel better? So basically admit to the fact that your terrible company may have sent important notices via spam mail and if you didn't get them oh well? Unbelievable and yet I'm still without all of my files. I think they should be sued for misrepresentation of their claim to keep files safe. If you are going to take over a company completely have a better way to notify users of this instead of a spam mail! I'm sick over this and their representatives basically not caring at all. Of couse they would not care unless it happens to them. Unscrupulous business practices and the BBB should allow better options for such a subject to file a complaint. This should be considered criminal!

I've been a customer with LogMeIn for ten years. I use the Central product with 500 computers. I found it had several good and bad points, I'll leave it to you to decide how important they are:

Benefits: Performance is excellent.
I highly recommend using the LogMeIn Client as it makes the process even faster to connect.
Good search features, and great remote troubleshooting features (safe mode reboot, multi-screen support)

Deficits:

Installation is laborious, over a dozen steps, compared with two for my new provider splashtop.
Pricing increases by $500-$600 each year for the last three years. Now that it's reached $2000 I decided to switch to something new doing the same for $400.
Surprise renewal requirement. With less than 24 hours notice I was told renew or cancel, I had a paid subscription still valid for two weeks when the notice came.
Early termination. Despite having two days left in my paid subscription my service was terminated two days early, right in the midst of my transition.

Hadn't used LogMeIn for several years and after disputing the ridiculous annual fee that they charged for the annual renewal, I was told no refund since I didn't "dispute" in a timely manner, which was within 60 days of the charge.
Avoid them at all costs! Very poor customer service! They couldn't even speak off of their "script".

They want one to select a star system for a rating. Only one problem. There are no MINUS FIVE stars. Not sure where to even start or end with this subject. My OCR FREE software did not work and I stupidly allowed them to ATTEMPT installation. FIVE installations and not one worked. During this process, I, like and idiot, allowed them to take control of my computer. The next day, a number of my programs were GONE and some others did not work correctly. If you are considering using this service, in a word, "RUN"

I initially used logmein sporadically for a couple years and liked the price. However, they upped it dramatically with very little notice. And surprise they don't offer refunds in their terms. I called and tried to cancel and disable but they will only set it to "non-renew" and the service remains open. There are many companies out there that are better and offer better terms so avoid this one. I also inquired what other companies they are affiliated with so I could avoid them too and the rep wouldn't specify. Very dodgy company!

Have been double billed by Logmein for three years. Shame on me.

However when I went to cancel the service (because their subscription has gone form $50 to $265 in 3 years) and ask for a partial refund for the billing that occured in November they told me tough luck. Wow double bill me for 3 years and not have the courtesy to provide me a pro rated refund of the current year. Not an organization you want to work with. Stay away.

HACKED
February 7, 2017

I tried logmein for 2 weeks and after I attempted to uninstall it, it left remnants of its bytes in my computer. I could not delete "logmein speakers" from my mac. And the most frightening part was that the speakers were picking up noise/voices at ALL times. Then my computer became very slow, pop up windows, and the worst thing ever... my email was hacked. I changed my passwords 4x but to no avail. I had to bring my mac to the apple store and they were able to remove the numerous malware. Additionally, they had a really difficult time finding the "logmein speakers" but they finally found it. We had to go into sub-applications just to find this pesky remnant of logmein. They also found other remnants but EVERYTHING was finally deleted. I had to change ALL my passwords for every online account. I truly think I was hacked by them or someone who hacked them. Today, I received an email indicating that my "logmein" account was accessed from Moscow, Russia. I deleted that account so how did that happen? In any event, DON'T use this service or if you do, please be careful.

LogMeIn.com is blatantly ripping off its customers with excessive increases in their annual fee (renewed automatically) without providing "any" prior notification to their customers. The new, and much higher fees, are charged to each customer's credit card that's kept on file at LogMeIn.com.

Do not give this company your credit card info. Do not do business with this company.

If you're into providing remote assistance, then use another software. LogMeIn has very poor support, they bill you and bind you into paying them, when issues arise they give you a run around. When you want to cancel, they send you the terms that you cannot cancel. I've been speaking to Steven | Technical Support Rep who sends me one email in two days, and actually repeats the same thing i've been telling him for days.

1. This software isn't trusted by most Macs, and LogMeIn doesn't wants to put efforts into sorting it out, many less tech savvy users are afraid of running it when they see the prompts telling them that the software is downloaded from the internet, and isn't trusted.

2. Older Mac's aren't compatible with this software.

3. There timers sucks, when a less tech savvy users download the software and if the user has taken a while to run it, the support session expires and if you do not click the link within 5 minutes the link expires.

I decided not to use this software anymore, because i have to spend like 20-30 minutes to the user explaining what the software is, and then instructing further how to run it, and if it expires then i have to re-do the new links.

If the user mistakenly runs two instances of this crap, then the PC keeps rebooting.

Don't buy this software.

The service works ok, hence the 2 stars. But they automatically put you on annual autopay, then refuse any refund if you want to cancel sooner. They claim to have sent an email to me notifying me of a renewal last April, but I just verified that I never received any such email. So they have charged me their full, expensive annual fee without notifying me, and now less than 6 months after the renewal date, they will not issue even a partial refund for the remaining time. I don't even use the service, and I just want to cancel... but I have to continue paying for ~7 more months. Also, they have no way of cancelling or changing autopay settings on their site; you have to call them and wait on hold to talk to somebody in order to make any billing changes. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was given the runaround and then put on hold for 20-30 minutes before I finally got a supervisor on the phone who was not willing to help. Very archaic and short-sighted approach to customer care if you ask me.

Chrome remote desktop is free, easier to use, and doesn't use 'gotcha' billing tactics.

Look, I've used this product for over 10 years and I just canceled my subscription, you know why? Well, because of manipulative and dirty business practices. Let me explain, Auto-Renew is SO auto that you cannot cancel it, there's absolutely no option on their website to cancel. I feel this is a $#*!ty business tactic. If your product is good then let the quality of your product and your customer service sustain your reputation. Don't try to hold your (in my case especially loyal) customers hostage and keeping your account auto-renewing by making it a huge PITA to cancel! Here's another thing, when I tried to downgrade my service from "LogMeIn Pro for Power Users - $349/yr for 5 Computers" to "LogMeIn Pro for Individuals - $149/yr - for 2 Computers" their website wouldn't even show me the option to do so. I even tried to use an alternate browser to access the website without logging into my account and it wouldn't show it to me because they flagged my IP address! So then I really got pissed, closed both of my browsers, cleared the caches, connected to my VPN service and tried to access the LogMeIn Store and guess what, I could see this wonderful option of purchasing the $149/year service. After that experience, I called them and canceled my service. Does there product work? It works well, but they need to change their corporate culture of sneaky, slimmy, and questionable ethics in their business practices. Let your product's reputation speak for itself! Hello TeamViewer Free :)

My company has used logmein for our employees to access their desktop machines when they're away from their desks. Until today we trusted logmein to have a presence on machines which have sensitive data on them. We trusted logmein with our data.

This year they hiked their price by 35% (from £189 to £249) and auto-renewed. I discovered the increase when I was reviewing the accounts. They say they sent me an email but I didn't see it. I called them to cancel the service and ask for a partial refund, however they will not turn the service off and they will not refund any of the fee they charged us.

They say that because we used it (in August, several of us were on holiday abroad and this is when we use it the most) they have to charge for the whole year.

From a security standpoint this means that if you are a logmein customer you have an agent installed on your machines provided by a company that will add services you have not requested to your account, change the amount of money they charge you without securing your consent and then take an increased sum from your account without your permission.

So the answer to the question "Will they also steal my data?" can only be "Well, they help themselves to money without asking, so it's best not to risk finding out."

This is the nature of a breach of trust.

Do not install the client, you cannot be sure they will act in your best interests, they certainly didn't in mine.

They also take forever to answer the phone, and if you point out any of the above to their call centre staff, you have a one in three chance of being hung up on.

On the third phone call I was able to get them to agree to delete my payment details but I cannot get them to terminate the service so my guys don't accidentally re-install it on one of our machines thereby opening us up to (what we now know to be) a huge risk.

Utterly amoral.

Avoid.

Made me a believer went into my computer and locked me out to where I had no choice but to call. Then went in remotely as I expressed my fear and showed how they work for Microsoft! At the very end after all the bs he ask if I do online banking I said some of course this is a new computer and I have not saved anything to do with bank. He then tells me all I need done and I need to pay 149.99 to get back in my computer. I am on workers comp with back injury and taking classes online and was I the middle of studying and money is tight and I could not afford that until Fri. He then tried to get me to pay 100.00 and that was as low as he could go! Now he is done and starts deleting everything telling me I can restart computer as he unlocked the block! Microsoft needs to handle this as it came through as if it was them! Thank goodness I didn't pay and came straight here! This just happened and wasted an hour of my studies!

They charged me $50 in 2014, $100 in 2015 and now the are charging me $150 for 2016.
I'm done with this Thiefs! There is plenty other services like this and much cheaper. They are charging over the weekend and there is nobody to pick up the phone, and you can't cancel the service online! I hope that their greed will take them to the bankruptcy!

Contacted tech support for Duplicate Photos Fixer Pro -- a Systweak app. Got LogMeIn who rammed through answering my question in order to try to hard sell me their tech services.
Now I am paranoid that they installed malware on my Mac. AVOID THESE SHADY OPERATORS - BOTH OF THEM
