In addition to horrible customer service, Ll Bean sells services that they do not fulfill. Just spent over 40 minutes waiting for a customer service representative to help me with an order. I paid $15 extra for expedited shipping then learned that the day before my merchandise was due to arrive, it hadn't left the warehouse. When I asked to cancel my order, Customer Service told me they didn't have the ability to do so. Had to wait another 15 or so minutes to speak to a supervisor who told me they no longer have expedited shipping (yet they took my $15 to pay for it) and that they can't guarantee that my order can be cancelled. What the heck?! I'm done with Ll Bean.
Ordered a pair of shoes and after 15 days they still hadn't arrived so called customer service and was on hold for 25 minutes before someone picked up! They said their warehouse was being reorganized which was slowing everything down so they hadn't even shipped my shoes yet. He said I'd be transferred to customer service and I was placed on hold for ANOTHER 10 minutes! A lady again mentioned the warehouse problem and she couldn't even give me a deliery date. I told her to cancel the order and that it was unacceptable that I wasn't even notified about the delay sooner. I'll never order from here again.
I ordered a pair of hiking boots in March; the boots didn't arrive until May. The boots weren't backordered; LL Bean customer service just kept telling me their warehouses were being reorganized, hence the delay. I asked in April if I could cancel the order, and LL Bean said they were unable to cancel it. I am now having similar problems with a current order; I am being given the same reason as to why the order is delayed. Warehouse issues. Right.
I have been a LL Bean customer for over 20 years, BUT this latest order will be my last order with them. REI, here I come.
Takes a week and a half now to receive merchandise. Countless mis-marked clothing sizes, order filling mistakes, etc. An American legend gone bad. Time for new management and new clothing designs/colors. Same old stuff year and year. They do still have a few great products though and that keeps me going back every now and then, but they're in trouble for the long run.
Update: They have fixed their shipping issues. I received an apology and gift certificate to help. Updating my review to 3 stars.
So much for "famous service". I ordered two kayaks from them, received one. Truck driver said other was "backordered". What? Never told about that. The bill of lading said two were delivered, unfortunately someone who didn't know signed it. I called them, called them again, emailed them three times. Each time told, "Thanks for your patience". I should have been shipped another kayak immediately or refunded my money right away. I have now disputed the charge on my credit card and will never buy from them again. They act like internet scam operators.
I ordered 4 rolling Adventure Duffle bags for my twins for camp. The delivery day came and went. With camp starting in only 5 days, I contacted LL Bean. I expected the great care that I had always received in the past. Not this time! LL BEAN IS NOT THE SAME COMPANY IT ONCE WAS. Nothing but excuses. I was told that my order was "stuck", they were updating their systems, conveyor belts, staff in the warehouse etc etc etc. I was told that they had no idea when, OR IF, I would get my order! Now I am scrambling around locally trying to find something to pack my kids in! LL Bean is an absolute NIGHTMARE. Don't make the mistake I made-order elsewhere!
I received a wrong order from Bean. When I attempted to call to straighten it out I experienced frustration and anger. Beans phone line was busy every time I attempted to call over a two hour period. At other times I was asked to wait because staff was busy handling other orders. I could expect a 10 minute or longer wait. This is NOT the L. L. Bean I'm used to dealing with. This is not an L. L. Bean I expect to deal with in the future. Bean will have to do better if it expects to keep its customers happy and returning. I don't know that I ever will.
It used to be that LL Bean service exceeded all others. I ordered some items a week ago and the status still says In Progress. I called Customer Service and was greeted with a busy signal. I tried Chat and it told me the expected wait time was 60 minutes. What has happened to LL Bean.
My order was made 21 days ago and I only continually receive respnses saying they are sorry for the delay and are "updating their systems and warehouse"... I paid extra for expedited shipping so it was already unacceptable to give me a delivery date 12 days from the date of order, and now they can't even give me a hard shipping date. I get responses like "it's in the early stages of being picked for shipping"... Disrespectful and unacceptable. I will NOT order from them again and I suggest you don't either!
Trapped in its own failure, Llbean has lost the fundamentals of what constitutes a good employer. Wrapped up in the trappings of the huge profit machine that it has become, employees are coming and going having felt the frustrations of an organization on par with Walmart. Leaving a trail of disillusioned short termed workers, they're a disgrace and don't deserve to exsist!
I ordered the same P. J. bottoms I have worn for years from Bean. They changed the cut. The crouch is an inch shorter in front. I understand it's a new style to wear pants/shorts/skirts below the waist but pajamas are suppose to be comfortable more than stylish. I am very disappointed in Bean's inability to stick with tried and true. Every year I have to order as soon as the bottoms become available because they sell out quickly, is this not enough of a sign that the product works? They also changed the waist band to a knit fabric instead of poplin which is O. K. but why? Knit stretches...
I will never purchase anything from Bean in the future. The price is rediculously high for the quality of the product.
On April 16 I ordered a couple items to take on vacation. Received a notice tonight one item - the swimsuit - has been shipped. Unfortunately, too late for my vacation. Foresaw this happening and purchased a great REEBOK swimsuit to take with me. Not going to patronize LLBean for a very long time and only if I can't find a similar item elsewhere. Who knows when the other items I ordered will arrive?
My dad purchased from LLB for YEARS! He SWORE left and right by them! AND! I CAN see why! They've been NOTHING but Wonderful to me! I purchased a jacket last yr. Well the zipper got stuck and thus the jacket got Stuck on me and I couldn't get it off w/out cutting the jacket! I called LLB and Immediately was told to cut it off LOL and return it. I did and they gave me my FULL REFUND back! AND NOT just a credit but a REAL CHECK so I Could shop elsewhere! I opted of course to get another jacket from them! I returned some stuff I hadn't worn in AGES! They gave me a refund for that as well. I now Won't put this stuff into Good Will... LOL I keep it and when I have a box of it, I return it to get a credit or a check back. ONLY my last purchase did I need to wait for over 3 wk. To get it., Otherwise I got Every purchase VERY Rapidly! NO complaints w/LLB! Their stuff is Wonderful and I LOVE it!

Bought a lunch box and had it monogrammed. The monogram was so small! The L L Bean logo was bigger than the initials on the bag, for costing $8 just for the monogram (which was all of 3 letters) and taking 7 days just for the monogram not even shipping it, will not purchase again.
Tried for 5 months to obtain an item which was on back-order. Told me it would be delivered a certain date, it never came. Kept blaming their new system. Could not tell me when my item would be shipped or even if it was in stock. Have ordered item from another company. Had purchased occasionally from LLBean over the years, but never again. Their customer service is a joke.
I have purchased from LL Bean for years. One of the phone orders I made, I was talked into opening a credit card. I subsequently shopped at LL Bean either directly or online, frequently forgetting about the card. I went to make a purchase for my daughter and when I went to use the card, I noticed it was expired. When I called I was informed my account was closed due to inactivity. I explained that was really unfortunate and can have a negative effect on ones credit. Their response was "sorry you feel that way" My credit is exceptional, and I guess inadvertently they have done me a favor, as I needed to open another credit card for a trip overseas. I've had other cards for years and have gone long periods of time without using them. I like to pay with a debit when I can. This has never been a problem elsewhere. I will no longer purchase goods from LL bean, and either will the rest of my family
They products are phenomenal if you can afford them. If you need something that is going to last then save up your money and shop there. However, unless you are well off you aren't going to make that your go-to store.
I use the service direct message recently. But I already had time to evaluate it at the highest level. A large number of prompts allows you to configure the service without any problems. A lot of tips. The necessary messages are automatically generated along with the sending. Over a short period of time, the conversion increased by 36%. This is very cool really!

Answer: If you don't get results from one customer service representative, ask to speak to a supervisor. I emailed my question in and had a quick response and exceptional service. Had I not, I certainty would have gone up the chain of command.
