This Company is Super Easy to Deal with. Returns are a snap and their stuff is very high quality. I get a little tired of their constant marketing, but their sales a certainly worth it.
I bought a cute toy moose for my puppy at the LL Bean inn Freehold, NJ. It was just under $10. It broke at the ear in only SIX days. My puppy didn't eat it; it came apart. LL Bean claims they are UNABLE to send a replacement moose to me in Scotland and they won't even give me a refund. So all their bragging about their service is one big lie.
They constantly brag about their service. What a joke.
Quality of their merchandise isn't as good as it used to be. The majority of their stuff is now made in China. If I wanted this kind of quality, I'd shop at Walmart, where, at least, I wouldn't pay as much for it. My experience is that after a couple of washes, little holes start to appear in t-shirts; and zippers on sleeping bags either stick, or break.
Don't even think of trying to get what you want during one of their sales. There's a 90% chance that the item you're shopping for will be "sold out", and the only choice left will be the really ugly colors they can't sell during the year.
Shipping used to be excellent, but in the last couple of years, it has gone downhill. The same stuff I bought a few years ago would be shipped to me overnight... two days at most. Now it can take up to a couple of weeks to get out of the warehouse.
I used to buy a lot of my clothing and equipment at Bean, but no more. Ever since the company started expanding, it has really gone downhill in my opinion. There are too many other companies which still sell good quality merchandise, and I buy from those companies now.
May not be the cheapest place to shop but you really get what you pay for. I have purchased multiple sweaters in classic never go out of style cuts and colors and they all wash and wear wonderfully! Interested in trying out their shoes, they will probably last 10 years!
Purchased numerous items from them over the last 10 years. The quality of the merchandise is outstanding. Have never had to return anything from clothes to household items.

I married into a New England family and everybody reveres L. L. Bean, almost like a cult :) But once I started to go in pilgrimage to their Freeport, ME store I got hooked. Good quality product, best refunds policy, very helpful staff.
If you have kids L. L. Bean is a must for school supplies and living in the north it's gets COLD! The clothes and outwear are top notch! I've had my rain coat for 12 years and it looks new!

I got my daughter the backpack on wheels and it is still is great shape after 2 years. She uses it for school, over night sleep overs, and girl scouts events and not any damage.

Everything I've ever purchased from L. L. Bean has been top quality. From boots to backpacks, whether it's for hiking or back-to-school, the products are made to last. The backpack I got my daughter in the 4th grade lasted through high school, it was used daily and carried some very heavy loads. I still use it for travel and day trips, straps and zippers in good shape after all this time. My husband's snow boots lasted 15 years before they needed to be replaced. Good, quality items.
I purchased three shirts from LLBean. Two of the items were exactly the same except for color. I was allowed to exchange the shirt with very tight sleeves at no charge. When I received the replacement it fit like a tent. I ordered a small, I am not tiny, about perfect size for my weight and height. The material is fine but size is not correct. I returned the shirt, I paid the postage but LLBean still deducted $6.95 for returning it. I would not buy from this company again

Bought clothing and waterhog mats over at least 20 years. Virtually every purchase was perfect. One purchase wasn't (size grossly off despite phone consultation) which they took back without a question.
Never, ever a bad experience with this decades old company. They never leave me hanging, accept all returns and give full compensation even if it's not new anymore.
You can never go wrong with LL Bean. Their clothes are a little pricey but they lost forever. And I mostly love the fact that they sell classic Styles not trendy will outfits.

Ordering from LL Bean is painless because the merchandise is usually well-made, it arrives quickly, and the customer service is fantastic. I've ordered from them for years, and, when I lived on the East coast, shopped at their store many, many times. Every time I have spoken to customer service, I'm dealing with an American, and I appreciate that fact. A solid, old-fashioned, American-style store. Nice.
I bought a backpack here October 9th and its expectwd shipping date was the 13th, by the thirteenth it still was not sayin shipped so I would call the number and the people on the phone would transfer you to a customer service rep but it sounds very sketchy. I had the person tell me on the phone it prob got lost in the warehouse and will be here within a week. A called a couple other times and got it should be shipped today or tomr its in the process of being picked if you want we can cancel this order and buy a new one from the store. The whole thing was sketchy and frustrating
Fast foward to the 18th and I see the order status says COMPLETED, what? So I call again and tell them it says completed but I dont have the bag what does that mean? So the first person sounds hesitant and nervous and puts me on hold for a couple minutes when she gets back she tells me shell send me to customer service representative, I ask is everything okay and she said theyll talk to you. The woman who I was transferred to tells me that my backpack is not in stock and the order was cancelled the day before. Was once again told that I could order a backpack from the store in a separate purchase but what Im not getting is why cant they do that.
I never received a cancel confirmation or any reason why. I will never ever order from them and I hope you dont either. Still afraid that they will be charging me by other reviews.

Answer: If you don't get results from one customer service representative, ask to speak to a supervisor. I emailed my question in and had a quick response and exceptional service. Had I not, I certainty would have gone up the chain of command.
