I bought six metal halide light bulbs

I bought six metal halide light bulbs. One of them had a manufacturing defect. The bulb works, but I suspect its lifetime will be shortened due to the defect. I spotted the defect as I was unpacking the box. Surely, your people should have noticed it as well and returned it to the manufacturer rather than sending it out to a customer.
