The films I sent came back on a thumb drive and looks as if they projected them onto a wall copied them on a thumb drive less the audio. Really need to beware of this group. They are a total rip off.

My wife has been in Florida for 5 weeks now with her father, who is dying. We had three old 8mm films from his honeymoon, and of his three children when they were young. I had them converted so he could see them before he passes on. He was very appreciative. He said to my wife... "Look how beautiful your mother was!" We also had some old Digital 8 videos of our daughter when she was little. Many firsts... steps, birthday, haircut, Disney, preschool graduation. The camcorder broke long ago so it was a joy to see them again. Also, our wedding video on VHS. VHS player broke years ago and cannot be replaced. I told MY daughter, "Look how beautiful your mother was!"

Legacybox was unable to convert about 30% of the Digital8 videotapes that I sent them. They provided an excuse that the tapes were damaged however they play perfect on my home device. In addition, the quality (resolution) of the digital video files that they did convert is not nearly as good as the original tape.

The process was fast and easy. I did not have any issues with the service itself, just the quality of the product.

I originally rated this with 1 star however they have since then, and with multiple back and forth with them, they have refunded my money for the tapes that didn't convert. I am still not 100% happy with the quality however the service was fast and easy and they did correct the issues that I had with a refund.

My daughter died a year ago from breast cancer and she left behind a husband and two boys ages 8 and 11. I am writing my daughter's biography and I am including websites that the boys can click on to see their mother in action at various stages of her life. Slides, 8mm film, and video tape of her has been expertly converted over to a thumbdrive and CDs. Thank you Legacy for helping me turn this project into reality.

My father took many home movies of family over the years that got stuffed away and basically forgotten. After his death, I held on to these canisters for ages, wondering where I could entrust them for digitization at a reasonable cost. After reading all the positive reviews, and calling to ask our many questions (which were answered kindly and professionally), we decided to risk our memories to Legacy Box. I could not be happier with the result! Images from as long ago as 1959 were once again brought to life. Moments that I had forgotten, or had no idea my father was recording, came flooding back. Pictures of people long gone are there for me to share. My children and grandchildren are receiving a priceless gift this Christmas, that would not have been thinkable without LegacyBox. Thank you!

I had some old slides and home movies from when I was a kid, with no projector(s) so they were useless. I sent them all in to Legacy Box, and they put them on DVDs and a thumb drive. The company was easy to work with, and everything came back sooner than expected! Very pleased with their service. :)

This summer, my niece got married, and as I had previously recorded the weddings of two of her siblings, I was asked if I could do so for her wedding as well. Now I no longer have state-of-the-art equipment, but I do have a digital DV camcorder, so I agreed to film her wedding. The DV recording went off without a hitch, but unfortunately the "backup" recording in HD on a new Samsung note phone had problems and was not usable.

Therefore after attempting to copy the recording to a new computer which I frequently use to edit videos, I gave up and sent two dv tapes to Legacybox to be converted to DVDs.

The results were less than satisfactory. One of the two DVDs was unplayable (naturally it was the wedding recording) and I contacted LegacyBox to (a) get the URL where I could download a digital copy of the wedding, and (b) to have a PLAYABLE version of the bad DVD sent to me. There must have been some confusion because even though I said that if the download copy was usable I would not need the replacement, the woman who took the call (and emailed me the URL for both recordings) said that LegacyBox would send the DVD anyway. That replacement copy has never arrived and I finally gave up waiting for it.

The above is the good news.

The copy that LegacyBox sent to me contains the first 6 minutes (+/-) of the tape which (a) is just over 30 mintues long, and (b) plays perfectly on two different DV camcorders.

I finally tried an inexpensive over-the-counter video capture program, Nero, and the disk copied flawlessly, so I now (FINALLY!) have the video in a playable format.

I AM THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED. I would demand a refund for the inept, shoddy, and incomplete job which LB (Legacybox) did, and I would demand my money back except that even if LB were willing to give me a refund, I doubt that they are sufficiently efficient that I would ever receive it.

I CANNOT recommend their service to anyone. I am sure that many people are satisfied with such service, but having paid a not-inconsiderable sum to have 2 DV tapes copied and never having received a playable copy of one of them, I am MOST DEFINITELY NOT HAPPY and I will be warning my friends and relatives to avoid LB.

So worth it!

I was nervous about the cost, when I had no way to view the home movies taken by my parents and didn't know what was on each reel. The cost was so worth the rush of nostalgia that washed over me at the sight of friends and family members long passed and others looking 50 years younger! So many things I had forgotten about, but memories came rushing back. I was amazed at how steady and clear nearly all of the 24 reels sent in were. All on a single flash drive. Living in rural California means I have a "go box" during fire season. This flash drive means my family's memories will fit in my purse rather than in one more heavy suitcase to be packed in a hurry. I will definitely be sending the rest of my movies and slides as I can afford it.

Beware - this outfit will upsell you like crazy and have a nice front end process to get your tapes and money, but they have yet to deliver any product. They sent my tapes back in a very indescrete box but they never sent me a USB with the records nor a link to any files. Contacting customer service they say "oh we must have forgotten the usb... we'll send it back to production" and then you never hear from them again. I would NOT recommend this service.

I highly recommend Legacy Box for preserving all your favorite moments. The process was seamless. And customer support was superior. Ask for Marisa. You will not be disappointed. She is wonderfula very caring and efficient staff member. She was patient, kind, and helpful throughout the process and everything turned out perfectly.

Memories!

I have loved this product! It has been priceless to watch my old VHS tapes. I had over 30 tapes of 3 different sizes. Getting the thumb drive was like Christmas! We were able to watch our wedding video which we hadn't watched for over 30 years. So many memories! I'm sending off another order with slides from my late father from 1958. What amazing technology. This order will probably be pictures I've probably never seen!

I had several different formats of tapes from when my children were growing up that we not watchable as we didn't have the devices anymore. They were all converted to a thumb drive by legacy box and I can now watch them anytime on my computer. Furthermore I sent the clips to my grown children and they could watch themselves in childhood interactions that they had never seen before.

I bought package of 40 and spent the last six months going through albums and picking out 25 pictures for each of the labeled bags as instructed. I constructed each of the 40 packages of 25 according to theme. For example, one bag had 25 pictures of one sons birthday parties over the years, another of their best friends over the year, another of family trips. BUT, when I went to label each bag I discovered that the bags of 25 are only for THEIR convenience. IN fact, they will process my 1000 pictures and put them on the cloud or on a CD in random order. UGH! No hint of the website that all pictures would be placed on disc, essentially at random!

Their site is misleading - for the starter kit which is $72, the picture shows dvd's, thumb drive, a nice box, welcome guide, etc. I assumed you are paying for the 3 little DVDs in that price, so I ordered it and paid the extra $9.99 for the thumb drive. In order to get the DVD's you have to pay another $9.99 extra which I did not see. All I got back was the the box, my original tapes with my identifying labels missing, and a tiny little thumb drive. I haven't even checked yet to see if all the tapes were copied correctly onto thumb drive. So far, it does not appear so. Last year I used Legacy Box, and they messed up on that order by not copying 3 of the 25 or so tapes I had sent them, so I had to send them back to be copied. I'm pretty much done using them.
