Easy to use
December 11, 2020

When the box arrived I packed my VHS tapes and received the CD's much quicker than anticipated. Quality was good considering tapes were over 30 years old.

Don't waste your money
December 22, 2020

I sent about 25/30 vhs & vhs-c tapes that were from 1995 to 2006 (not old at all). Thanks to covid I had time to watch them all before I sent them to be sure they were in good working order & had content that was going to be worth the money I was spending to have them digitized. The ones I chose to send worked as good as the day we had recorded them, no sound or tracking issues. I got 3 thumb drives back with my tapes (many of the tapes were marked "tracking issues".), two of the thumb drives worked in the tv & one didn't, I contacted customer service & they gave me generic answers as if I wasn't tech savvy & disappeared. We watched some of the videos right away & were instantly disappointed with the quality... hardly any sound, many tracking issues, blue screens, dead space, hours of blank screens, some were out of order, started from the middle, parts missing, duplicates, 2003 somehow turned into 1999 in the middle like it had been recorded over, there were none of these issues with my tapes before I sent them, I know because I had watched them. Life happened & I put everything away until this week I wanted to watch them & organize them on the drives & once again more disappointment. I was so excited to get this done & now I'm sick that I spent that much money & received back what I did. Do not waste your time or money.

Hi A I, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I understand your frustration and apologize that your expectations were not met. We advertise that we perform a one-to-one transfer of everything that we receive. If there is an issue with the original, those issues will translate over to the digital copies.
We cannot restore, edit or improve the quality of tapes. Due to the age and natural deterioration of tapes, sometimes quality issues may occur during the digitization process. If you are certain that your original items are in better condition than the digital version you received back, we would be happy to set up a return for those items to be reprocessed. Please note that again, we do not offer editing services, so if there are blank spaces on your tape they will show as blue screen on the digital format. The files are free from any copyrights so you are more than welcome to edit the footage you received back. I apologize that all of your thumb drives did not work on your TV. Our thumb drives, as advertised are designed for computer use. While they will sometimes work on TV's they are designed solely for the computer. Please reach out to our customer service team at [email protected] so we can come to a resolution for you!

So easy!
December 11, 2020

I received my box and labels a week after I placed my order. Instructions were very easy to understand and follow. Actually I went to UPS and mailed the box with videos back today for processing. Now anxiously await their return along with the dvds. Hope and pray my investment is well worth it. Looking forward to the final results!

They did deliver the digitized results as promised. However, they failed to put our apartment number on the box of originals that was shipped back (photos and VHS tapes). Our precious mementos could easily have been lost or stolen. When I complained about this, they were flippant, and tried to blame it on UPS. But UPS told me that Legacy Box did not give them an apartment number. For a supposedly high-end service that brags about their careful quality control, this is unacceptable.

Hi Joseph, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We do apologize that there was an error in shipment. What you were previously told is correct, while we do not edit the address you provided from the time you placed your order, there was an issue with UPS shipping labels not including apartment numbers. Our team worked hard to correct this issue with UPS and safely directed packages back to our facility to have the issue corrected. We do apologize that this caused a delay in receiving your final shipment.

Met expectations
December 3, 2020

We took advantage of an offer thru a third party. We got busy and needed to contact LegacyBox after we waited too long. They continued to honor the original order and all we had to pay for was the UPS shipping as that had expired. Most items copied well although some videos were very grainy.

The 30 movies I sent (from 1938 through 1973) were converted to DVDs and digital uploads. The results were as good as the originals, and in some cases better because the speed was slowed a bit to make the images clearer. I have just sent in three more batches of old 8mm and Super8mm movies for conversion during the special half price sale. I originally used code RUSH (Limbaugh) for 40% discount. Great service!

I was given a Legacy Box as a gift from my wife. I decided to use it for the conversion of slides taken on trips when I was a teenager in the 1960's. The cost covered 10 sets of 25 slides each. The preparation took the better part of four days of carefully going through each trip and choosing the best and most important slides for preservation. I organized each trip, mostly 25 slides each; however, the longest trip to Europe took up about half of the allotment. After waiting over two months, the slides were returned with the flash drive. When I loaded it, my disappointment was profound. Although I had put the slides in order for each trip, labeled them, and put rubber bands around each of the 10 sets to keep them in the exact order, the result was a total mess. Yes, I had been told that they could not guarantee keeping them in the exact order but at least each set would be chronologically correct. What I got was a 1962 trip before a 1960 and 1961 trip. And within each, the slides might as well have been shuffled like a deck of cards or scattered and picked up in no rational order. The flash drive is useless to me and I would not ever show it to another person because the disorder would make no sense. For example, the Europe trip itinerary went from Germany to Switzerland to Italy, yet the order of the slides had it starting in Switzerland and pictures of various countries mixed together. Also, the quality of the slides was poor in terms of coloration, accentuating particles of lint... When I spoke with Legacy Box, they would not acknowledge that anything was wrong and, only after a long debate, agreed to provide a refund. But my time was wasted and I'm left with nothing in the way of memories that can be displayed or shown to anyone.

Hi Roger, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We wholeheartedly apologize you were not completely satisfied with your order. As you mentioned we cannot guarantee the order of slides within a set of 25 but if you sent in each set of 25 in their own separate bag each labeled with one barcode sticker, your order would be processed in order of your barcodes, starting with -01, followed by -02, -03 etc. Again, We apologize for any mixups or confusion. I see your refund was already processed but please feel free to reach out to our customer service team if there is anything else we can help you with.

Disappointing
December 22, 2020

I ordered the 40 tape package. Many were returned with a sticker claiming their damaged. Yet when I played in my camera they didn't look so bad. I'm terribly disappointed with the quality of your product I would never recommend legacy box to anyone.

Hi Elliot, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I do apologize that we were not able to process some of your tapes. Over time tapes will "mold" to their original players so while you may have played ok in your camera, they may not have looked so great on different equipment. It is fully up to the technicians discretion on whether or not they are able to transfer all of your items. If the technicians feels that transferring the tape would cause any damage to your original, they are unwilling to take that risk. If tapes were returned with stickers concerning the quality, this is just a complimentary "heads-up" to let you know that while they were in fact able to transfer your tapes, it did not meet the technicians requirements of being a perfect transfer so they just like you to be aware. Please reach out to our customer service team at [email protected] if there is anything else we can help you with.

Not what I expected
November 24, 2020

I had read great things of LegacyBox and sent in 8 8mm tapes that have been kept in boxes. No email was sent about issues but received digital download and cds with only 20 minutes of memories. Paid over 200 for less than 20 minutes of memories was not worth the time. Very disappointed

Hi Kathleen, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I do apologize if you did not receive email correspondence regarding your order. Sometimes they are filtered into Spam or Promotional folders depending on your email settings. If there were items that were unable to be transferred, you certainly would not be expected to pay for them. If you can please reach out to our customer service team via email at [email protected] and provide your order number, we would be happy to look into this for you!

Hi Tierra, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I'm do apologize, without further context I am unable to verify the contents of your order. If you ordered DVD's we absolutely want to ensure that you receive them! If you ordered a digtial download, the files would be uploaded to Google Drive and emailed to you. Your photos would appear in a folder above your video files. We are a 1:1 transfer company meaning that the digital files should match your original content. If you have reviewed your original items and can confirm that your video files were longer than what you received digitally, please reach out to our customer service team at [email protected] along with your order number so we can look into this further for you!

We sent in 10 units to be copied onto CD's. When they returned the copied CD's Legacybox had only copied 4 of the video units we sent (we viewed all the CD they copied). One of the units was copied twice so we only really received 3 of the 10 units sent. They did send us our original video files back. There was no explanation included in the returned package, nor a refund. When we called, the representative could not give us an explanation and suggested we go to Office Depot as they do a good job converting our video files to CDs. Today in the mail we received a box from Legacybox about the size of two shoe boxes, inside was one CD which was a third copy of a CD we already had two copies. No refund as of this date. I do not recommend Legacybox.

Hi Dale, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. Without your order number I am unable to say for certain but it seems like you may have sent in film reels for out team to process for you. I do apologize for any misunderstanding on the conversion process! Film reels are consolidated onto as few discs as possible and will play from one to the next seamlessly in the order in which you labeled them with your provided barcodes. If you can please reach out to customer service via an email to [email protected] with the attention of a supervisor, We would be happy to further look into why you may not have received some of your items on the discs and get this corrected for you.

What a disappointment. I got better results with a cheap scanner I bought from Amazon. On the one hand, they did digitize some old video recordings. On the other hand, almost all the scans of my slides and 35 mm negative were out of focus and nothing was color corrected. I took about 10 weeks to receive my stuff back after sending it and the communication about the process was scant -- though I got plenty of marketing texts and e-mails.

LegacyBox is a complete waste of money. I'll either do the rest of my stuff on my own or use a different service.

It's disheartening to convey that we are extremely disappointed- the quality was dark and grainy for all the VHS and 8mm video cassettes. The output quality on our VHS machine and camera to TV are far clearer that what was converted. I wish I would have ordered a smaller kit to review the quality of work prior to purchasing a larger conversion kit.
Extremely disappointed!

HP review
November 1, 2020

I had 8mm movies, my order was to have them put on thumb drives and CD's I also ordered the CD's to have the titles of the movies printed on the, after shipping I received an email telling me they were received and that the process took 6-8 weeks, I was emailed every step that was taken for the process and to my surprise I received all my movies in less than 10 days, they were perfect I didn't think they were going to be clear and crisp as they were, I sent the CD's to family gathering, they played them and there wasn't a dry eye in the house, they saw people they hadn't seen in years and loved ones that had passed on, these make a very good gift, and the choice of formats you can choose from makes it easy for anyone from the person that's tech savvy to a grandparent who doesn't like technology, the only thing wrong on my order was the DD's came in with no title on them that I ordered, but I was able to fix that with a good sharpie.

Thanks so much for the memories Legacy Box

Legacybox Scam
October 30, 2020

I ordered service on Legacybox to convert some VHS tapes, after hearing it on a radio show, and it is a SCAM. I waited two weeks and never did receive the package to ship my tapes to them for conversion, & paid $82.50 for the two tape box. When it did not arrive I sent multiple emails about it, which NO response, until I demanded a full refund. All I am getting is a partial refund, for $72.35 from them.
