My order was received on January 3 it is now April 27 and no direct answer on when my order will be completed. I reached out to the company and the basic answer was "sorry we are in our peak digitizing season".

I found Legacy Box through a Facebook ad after I quit trying to digitize the videos myself. I submitted 29 tapes, arriving to their warehouse on December 29th. I know the website says 8-10 weeks for busy season - AKA when I sent them in after Christmas - but I could've climbed Mt. Everest and back before the tapes would arrive. Here is the timeline of updates I got:
12/29 - We've received your order
1/25 - Order has been barcoded (what?)
2/1 - Order has been reviewed/inspected (again - what?)
2/8 - Order in line to be processed
2/15 - Order close to being processed
2/22 - Order in line to be transferred
3/1 - About to enter digitizing process!
4/18 - Order has been shipped!
4/21 - Order has been delivered!
Throughout March, I contacted them every week for a real time update on my order. They would always respond in a timely manner which was helpful, but still didn't assure me that my tapes would arrive soon. When the tapes arrived, all the DVD's worked except the VHS tapes that were converted to DVD's appeared in that fuzzy black and white obnoxious noise with no film playing.
Overall, I'm super happy with almost all of my new DVD's! I gave 3 stars due to the time it took and the VHS tape errors. I'd assume they are short staffed which is understandable, but they should change their estimated time on the website.

I sent in two video reels of some activities that happened almost 50 years ago. I wanted them for an event scheduled for 2 April. When I sent them in, the lead time estimate told me that I should have them back by mid-March. I had received no updates for several weeks, so I called the help line. I was told that they had a large number of videos which had been sent in after the holiday season. After I explained the need for getting these videos done, and that I had sent them in expecting them to be complete by mid-March, they moved the work up and had them done a week ahead of the event. They even made them available online, a service I didn't pay for, so that I would definitely have them on time, regardless of the speed of USPS.
I'm very grateful for their efforts, especially their customer service. And by the way, the videos look great!

I sent in 1o VHS tapes of precious family videos with stated 6-8 weeks processing. I didn't receive them back for 20 weeks which made me extremely nervous. The results are TERRIBLE. I would classify a great many videos as unwatchable. On some, the audio is does not match the video? How can that be? I basically have to take my original tape and copy it off myself to use it. Thank God I received the originals back. I will NEVER think about using Legacy Box ever. How they are in business is a mystery.

I took them up on a 20 item deal. I sent them a combination of 8mm video tapes. All were in excellent condition. It ended up costing around $500. I opted for the digital downloads. I started watching them as they became available. I'm shocked at how bad they look. Some are unwatchable. A lot of them have have just blue screen. I know a lot about video and it appears to me they just put the tapes in the machines and just hit play. They paid no attention to them as they played. They didn't bother to adjust the tracking on any of them. I consider my efforts a waste of time and my money wasted. My efforts to get them to fix this have gone unanswered. I got my tapes back and I have no way to check their condition since those camcorders of mine are long gone. My advice - don't use LegacyBox!

I only WISH they were ultimately able to provide me with digital files. That wasn't even an option. There weren't any options. My (annoyingly) numerous attempts to get a digital file or any kind of file was met with, "Sorry". Customer service was of no help. Rebekah P. We were excited to have our family films all together. It took four months, not in sequence, lots of bad film added and lighting was extremely dark. Not worth the money.

Can't tell you about how the actual product comes out. You wait and then you wait some more. If you ask me they spend way too much energy on sending out adds and getting folks to take phone calls. I sent it in December and May is almost here. Maybe for Christmas it will come back. I CAN say they take your money extremely efficiently. RUN fast from this crappy company!

I had mini video cassettes of some shows performances that I wanted converted to dvds. I got a Groupon for Legacy. The quality was great! It was worth the wait. I appreciated the Legacy updates on the progress. The bonus was a digital copy too! So happy with Legacy!

Sent in 20 items right before Christmas. Got an email saying they received my data. Got two more emails, one in Jan and one at the end of February, the last one saying my items were being sent for digitization. Nothing since then. I can understand being a little backlogged after Christmas but 16 weeks is ridiculous! Every day I get legacy box emails about sales and promotions, but nothing about my order. I have email proof of their receipt. It would not save in your required format

It took 16 weeks to get my Legacyboxes. I sent in 6 VHS tapes. I got 12 CDs back. 4 were identical copies of 1/2 of one tape and 3 were identical copies of a second tape. All had the audio off track. The other 5 were blank and scrambled. What a waste of money. I will have to get all of the tapes redone somewhere else. Very disappointed.

If I could give them ZERO STARS, I would! I placed my order and paid at the end of November. I did not receive my box to ship my tapes back to them until after Christmas. They say they receive them on January 11. I had planned for them to be a birthday surprise for my husband on February 23. That did not happen. The last update they sent me was on March 10 saying that my tapes were being digitized. I received no other updates & was getting worried about my tapes. I called them today and they could give me no further updates, so I asked for a full refund and my tapes back. The refund has already been issued, but I'm really stressed out that I won't get my tapes back. They're very valuable to me. I would definitely not recommend this company at all.

I've sent my stuff back in Nov of 2021. I've tried contacting them and no one is reaching back to me. This is either a scam or they lost my memories from when I was a kid! I want my tapes back!

I choose this company because I saw it on TV and Facebook ads. I placed my order when it was 50% off. (I've since seen it offered for 60% off.) I wanted all my videos digitalized and had a few photos to fill the package I chose. It said 6-8 weeks so I thought I had plenty of time. I did received updates through the process on where my photos and videos were at. Then we scheduled my dad's memorial service. I got an email udating me on the order, but I wanted more clarification. Seth was the senior customer service rep who responded. I got a canned response that included this was their busiest time of year. I pushed him for more than the standard response which I got. I explained that they had 50 photos I needed. He ended up putting a rush on it and I got my materials on Thursday night before my dad's service on Saturday. I appreciated all Seth did to help me. The rush was done at no charge.
I will say that I think the cost is high. I know some of my videos had less than 15 minutes on them. I wish there was a way for them to give you a ballpark cost, review the materials, then adjust the cost when you only have a few minutes of video on a tape.
After waiting more than 8 weeks and continuing monitoring legacybox webpage for updates on my orders without any decent progress, I decided to contact them, and all I was given were excuses and apologies. After talking to them for more than 20 minutes, they finally decided to give me some priority on my order. Which I was good with. 3 days later their webpage posted my order was completed and shipped out. Great I said, but what a nice surprise, all I received back were the same 2 VHS, s and one 8 mm cassette. Immediately I call them, and they initially said my order was completed and was on m way. When I told them I already received the box with no digitalized item, they gave me the excuse my cassettes have some mold or were with some kind of damage. I asked them why their webpage said the order was completed, they had no answer. They promised to send me a full refund,, and again, they did no sent a full refund, giving the excuse they need to cover the shipping charges, "for a service not completed". I wasted 3 months waiting for them and nothing, and at the end they kept some money from me. LEGACYBOX IS A FRAUD!

Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Just put a note in your box if you have a PAL tape. *Film: 8mm, Super8,16mm, and Super16 A note on sound: Since sound on film is so rare, and to ensure we're providing the highest quality transfers, it is not our standard process to digitize film with sound. *Photos: 35mm Slides, Photo Prints (up to 8.5 x 11"), and 35mm Negatives A note on photo packaging: When sending in your photos, slides, or negatives, we ask that you remove them from any extraneous container, group them in bundles of 25 and place them in clear plastic ziplock bags or envelopes. *Audio: Standard Audio Cassette Tapes, Mini Cassettes, Micro Cassettes, and 1/4" Reel-to-Reel Audio If you have any more questions, let me know. Answer: Nope. They took 3 months to tell me an item was "damaged" and then told me their refund policy was 20% or more of the media damaged to give any refund.
Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back!
