I agree with a previous dissatisfied customer, I would leave a zero rating if it were possible. The crew that showed up mowed only one small section of the property and completely ignored the other larger section of the property which had the tall weeds and grass the City was going to fine me for. I ended up begging the City for more time and having to hire another company to do the job Lawnstarter was hired to do but didn't. Now I am stuck with two more service visits by Lawnstarter where they will bill me for doing nothing since I am having the property maintained by a true landscaping company.
We scheduled for one of the lawn starter "pros" to come and mow, edge, and blow off our front and back yard. For starters, the back yard was untouched. The front yard is a terrible disaster. There are spots that were completely missed, all the yard is uneven, and the edging, what edging? The edging they did do is uneven and sloppy. There is now trash all over my yard. Not sure where that came from either. I would never recommend this company. Save yourself time and find a real professional. I could have done this job better myself, blind folded.
Used this service for roughly 2 months on a bi-weekly basis. The first two mows were okay and reliable. After that they would mark my yard as compete and not show up. This went on for 4 times in a row and would not refund the non-mowed yard. Switched companies to GreenPal and they are a much better service. Buyers beware.
I would leave a zero rating if I could. I cancelled one mow because the previous time they came out they cut my grass too close to where you could actually see dirt. The next time they came out again they charged me double to recoup the previous cancellation siting long grass as the reason. Total BS! Bad business. The BBB has this company listed as an "F" rating. Hire them at your own risk. They will not only ruin your yard but will charge you double for it!

We've used Lawnstarter for over a year. I was satisfied with the regular service we received. As of late, however, the mower has been late by days. We were just charged on June 21 when the mower didn't even show. That mower even damaged our grill cover but we said nothing. The incident that finally got to us is when that same mower caused a rock to fly into our window and cracked it. We made a damage report but Lawnstarter said they won't pay for the damages. We're not looking to scam them, we just want them to take responsibility for the damage their mower caused. Also, don't charge us when your mower doesn't show. We're not ones to write online bad reviews, but this is unacceptable. Picture of damaged window posted below.
VERY DISSATISFIED! Poor service worker damaged my yard, cut my grass uneven and way too low. Cut flowers from my flowerbed. I filed a property damaged claim and got an email back from Jessica stating she is sorry for the poor service and damaged but she will not reimburse or replace and suggest I buy grass seeds and continue to water my grass! My grass wasn't dead or damaged until their "pro" mowed it

Second time you guys left my gate open in the backyard! I specifically asked to shut the gate as we have a dog... two times now.
Also, the grass in the backyard was not even mowed today. I am canceling your service because your staff can't follow simple basic instructions and courtesy to close a gate after service which I don't even know why they were in backyard if they didnt mow it?
LawnStarter sent out a crew that was trying to poach their business, demanding payment separate from what we pay LawnStarter after they mowed the lawn. We did not pay them and the poaching crew sent out a person a couple days after to intimidate us at our front door into paying in which my partner was luckily home to send away as I was afraid. They later came at night and shot my car windshield with a bibi gun a day later which the glass repairman confirmed the impact point reflected it was shot by something small and round. We contacted LawnStarter who has been running us in circles and not responding for a month now. Every time we call they tell us a manager or damage team will call us back which they never do. They obviously don't care to speak on behalf of the crews they send out or care about their customer service, it's total garbage. So if you want to have people who destroy your property show up to your house to intimidate you and be out of $400 to replace damages, then go with LawnStarter.
Beware! I had scheduled lawn mowing services weeks in advance for a time when I would be away/traveling for over a month. On the day of the service, they wrote cancelling my service - with no backup date planned. Just a pure cancellation. So I had to scramble to find another solve with a company that is reliable - all while on the road, and in the middle of prime lawn care season. Thanks for nothing! Do not recommend.
They came over as far as I know but did not cut my grass. They said that my yard was not accessible, which is not true!

Totally dissatisfied with the work and the contractor was fraudulent. Pretended not to receive the approved order and I still got charged after he got paid cash. Work not completed as planned. Everyone blamed someone else and no one could come up with an option to rectify it. They could not get in touch with the crew was their excuse. All I can say is I learned my lesson. STAY AWAY!
We used this company last year and didn't seem to have any problems. Service was prompt and accurate. This year however it's been a complete nightmare. We have our lawn scheduled to be cut every couple of weeks. So far it's been almost a month with them pushing back the service date every single day. We see a constantly changing merry go round of who is supposed to be servicing our lawn in our app with constantly changing dates. At this point our yard is completely overgrown with patches dying because the grass is to long for the sprinklers. Customer service sends out an email every few days thanking us for our patience and assuring us that they will make it right yet they have done nothing to fix it. They are also impossible to get a hold of over the phone and the hotline just records your number and hangs up after a certain amount of time has passed.

Do not use! Horrible experience. First time around they wouldn't let me remove my credit card and cancel services. After figuring I was stuck using them they assigned me three different crews and each crew never showed up. Excuses like you wouldn't believe. One crew had their lawnmower stop working and called to cancel within 1 hour from time of service. The next crew accepted service and on the way decided they do not push mow so I got canceled. Third crew (which I do not even think I was assigned a third one) LawnStarter emailed me the morning of service saying they had finally canceled my subscription for me! However, I still can't remove my credit card on file and they will not do it for me.

The lawn service showed up in my gated community at 8 at night to cut my grass. Needless to say there were turned around at the gate because it is against Community policy. When I told the guy that we have strict rules in this community about lawn services including no grass cutting on Sunday he rudely told me that I could find someone else. I've been trying to call customer service all day to which I have no answers. I left a message by email and I did get a response back that said that I have to get a 3 cut minimum despite having told them then I refuse to have the guy come out who disrespected me. I don't know who these people are that they obviously do not vet their contractors. I would not recommend them to anyone.
Has been an easy painless experience thus far. Definitely recommend them for all the lawn mowing needs around the home
I have been waiting over 2 weeks for someone to mow my lawn. No communication to the customer, they don't even try to make it right. Don't even deserve a star. Don't use them you will be sorry
The crew never showed up, didn't let me know and kept changing the date of service without my acknowledgement. Customer service couldn't see the changes and always thought they were coming out the next day.
I was a customer of LawnStarter for over a year when during spring cleanup the crew cut down my raspberry and blackberry vines. I contacted the crew directly, Terjuan apologized and offered to replace the plants. When he did not follow through, 7 days later, I contacted LawnStarter directly. I provided pictures as well as the text messages showing that the crew admitted to damaging my property. Both Jessica and Abbigail were very difficult and LawnStarter refused to cover the damages stating that my claim was filed outside of their 5 day window.
The claim having been filed only 2 days outside their window, providing proof that the crew admitted to the damages, and LawnStarter's complete unwillingness to try to resolve the issue made it very clear how little they appreciate their customers.

Answer: LawnStarter.com does not employ lawn guys. They use contractors that might be in the area and willing to do the work. Neither are responsible for property damages like sprinklers, shattered windows, etc.
