I wanted to give everyone a fair warning of how this company works. I booked a mowing with them based on reviews that I had seen on Nextdoor. It seemed easy enough – you just schedule online anytime you need some type of lawn care done. Our grass was definitely in need of a mowing and so I scheduled the next available appointment. That got rescheduled due to a little rain, so it ended up being about a week before someone could come out. Since our grass was on the longer side (probably close to 9 inches), I expected to have to pay a little extra. Their long grass fee states that you'll pay 50% extra if you grass is 6-9 inches, and 100% extra if your grass is 9-12 inches. So here's how it then works... Someone shows up and takes a picture of your lawn. Based off of that picture, they determine how overgrown it is and what they are going to charge you. Initially my custom rate was $46. Guess what I was billed? 5X that! $226. Yes, $226 for a one-time lawn mowing. I called to clear things up and experienced some of the worst customer support. I did at one point speak with someone who was very helpful and agreed that I was overcharged, but then when I was put on the phone with another manager to approve a partial deduction, they disagreed. What a mess. Just know that there are honest companies out there that actually have their act together and care about you. Go find them. Support your local community. But I urge you – do not put yourself through the chaos and sh*tstorm of LawnStarter.

On one of my last mows the provider blew all of the grass into the planter area and left it. I messaged Lawnstarter and they sent the same man, as "new providers" out multiple times where instead of cleaning out the bed he blew the mulch first into the yard then into the drainage ditch and storm drains destroying several plants in the process. All of the work I'd put into the planting area was ruined and Lawnstarter decided, even after 4 revisits and multiple reports of damage, the issue was preexisting, despite photos showing otherwise.

Instead of paying me for the damage, replacement plants and mulch, and my time they finally said to buy it all and they would determine IF they would pay for it. This is simply unacceptable as it will cost over $150 to undo the mess and damage caused by their contractor and I don't even know IF it will be reimbursed.

I started my service with lawn starters on September 17th 2020. It is now Oct 17th 2020 and I the company has rescheduled me and changed cancelled the day of 16 times! It took almost 2 weeks for my first cut to actually happen and the guy didn't even do a proper job. He said his trimmer wasn't working so he couldn't edge the property. I understand that things like that happen but it just added to the already incompetent job that lawn starters had done. They don't give you any notice that they aren't showing up. I would leave my gate open for them as I'm the type to want to greet people if they are coming on to my property. I changed my daily activities and errands around the times lawn starters was suppose to arrive and 16 times I was cancelled without a notice. I only found out from going on to the app after they constantly no showed. When you first sign up they give you a $20 free credit if you write a review for them but you have to copy and paste the pre written perfect score review to get it. Of course everyone does that because who doesn't want a free $20 right, but looking back on it this is just another sleezy tactic to boost their reviews. Please don't trust this company if your life depended on it. Due to this company I recieved a fine from the city for unkept lawn as I was relying on them to fulfill the promise of actually cutting my grass. Iv attached pictures of my rescheduling as I know some folks can exaggerate but this is no exaggeration folks stay away!

My mom bought this service for me as a gift since I'm very pregnant and can't do it myself. The first service was scheduled for 09/23/20, but had to be rescheduled because of inclement weather. It was rescheduled between 09/26-09/28, which any of those days would have worked. On 09/26 we got notification they were coming, and then right after got another notification that it was rescheduled again for 09/30 due to inclement weather, which the weather had been fine. My mom messaged and asked about it and the person said they'd come out the next day, Sunday 09/27. That didn't happen so she messaged again on Monday when they still hadn't come and they said they'd come Tuesday 09/29... they still didn't show. They finally did show on Wed 09/30, which the grass was so long and out of control by then. When she originally set up the service she requested service to be done on 10/09 since we had something going on at my house on 10/10, but they came on Tuesday 10/06, less than a week after the first service and the grass did not need to be mowed at all. So she ended up paying for a service that wasn't necessary. In addition she requested at the beginning that they only do service in the afternoon as I work nights and on 10/06 they came at 9:30 in the AM waking me up... again I'm very pregnant and work nights. The communication and the way they schedule is terrible.

I used this company for years. When I first started to use them the team they hired stole my husband's tools. They did not take ownership but did replace the original team with a new team. The next mow the damaged all my yard lights! I had to submit them photo and tell them where they were purchased. In less then 24 I had all lights replaced plus extra. I was grateful! However the next mow (my third required) and we were in the same boat! The lady on the phone advised they will get a new team and to give them one more shot. My husband was in a wheelchair and I worked full time so I told her ok. For us to try and do it ourselves was hard. The next team was amazing! They stuck with me for years. Then on the last week of August I called to advise we are moving. I will need my mowing to end on the 18th of September! The next mow i received a message saying they need to reschedule. It was from a different team! I said ok and then 5vdays go by and then they show up advising they can't mow unless inpay the over grown lawn fee! Absolutely not! You rescheduled not me and I'm in the middle of a move. It took days before I got a response. Finally they agreed to have someone come out and mow and not charge the over grown lawn fee. Great. Thank you for owning your companies mistake. Whelp they got me back. They left my account open sent mowers again! Charged me again on a home I no longer own! This is beyond ridiculous. I would never recommend this service to anyone.

Let me first say that this has been the worst experience with a lawn care service ever! I'm a single mother who is in need of lawn care. Currently on bedrest and unable to take care of my lawn I reached out to Lawn Starter and created an account through the app. On September 14,2020. My first service was supposed to take place between September 18-19th 2020. However no one showed up, after checking the app I see that my service was canceled. I reached out through email and was told that the crew was removed from my account. Once my next service appointment is scheduled that was canceled too. I have spoken with numerous customer service reps through email who all state they apologize for the inconvenience and if they will schedule a new crew to service my lawn. It's been three weeks now and I still have not received service. Last night I received a text message asking me how my lawn looked. I thought it was extremely funny because I was home all day due to the fact that I'm on bedrest. No one came and cut my grass so of course I reached out again through email because that seems to be the only way that you can contact LawnStarter. I was told that due to the COVID-19 training the crew did not show up. However they will be here today Friday, October 2,2020 between the hours of 7 AM and 12 noon. I also received an email stating something completely different. I am extremely unsatisfied lawn starter and I want my account canceled however they say give us a try and commit to three lawn services. How can I commit to some thing if the service is not being provided. By the time I grass gets cut it'll be winter time. I do not recommend LawnStarter they are very unprofessional.

Don't waste your time.

Don't waste your time with this company. I submitted for a one time lawn mowing and only after they signed me up and took my CC did they tell me they don't offer one time services and that they only do a minimum of 3 services. I thought that should've been something they say upfront but i was already this far so agreed to the 3x services. They told me they could come by Friday and no one showed. I called but they use google numbers with no voicemail. The weekend passed and the next Wednesday they arrive only to leave and later tell me it was because my grass was too long? I measured it being 6" in the longest area and that was only after they were almost a week late to arrive with no call or message? Even after emailing customer service they offered no solution other than coming out again in another week. What a joke. I found another company "sky high landscaping" that is local and took care of me right away by scheduling me for the next day.

Horrible Customer Service

Because LawnStarter unable to cut my yard due poor weather, I hired another company. A couple days later, LawnStarter shows up (after I had cancelled) and takes pictures of my nicely mowed lawn and trimmed bushes - and claims they provided the service! Charged me for work they never did, and refuse to even discuss. Very disappointing.

Detachment of wages

I'm a 5 star provider for lawnstarter I spend 3 hours on each of their jobs and what willnhaplenbto any provider someone will simply break something behind u take pics and they will remove your money out of your account they will say they tried to reach u but they didn't and when u call them u can't talk to anyone in charge just a bunch of people that act like robots want to work to hard for to little and be treated like a liar lawnstarter may be for u

I was looking for a full service yard company. I was assured these guys could do the job. What I didn't realize that EVERYTHING is a-la-carte you get mowing edging and cleanup for one price. Everything else is individual bids. Not the way I want to do business. I don't want to have to get a bid for fireant removal, or bushes trimmed and get a different guy out each time.

Seems like all their bids are based on what they see on google maps. I wanted to talk to a person and walk my yard and have them make a list and get me a bid for items on the list. Nope. Just how much it cost to mow a lawn by looking at google is pretty silly if you ask me.

Originally I asked for a single mow so I just judge their competence but nope have to sign up for 3. They missed the first date and then gave me a 2 day window for the first mow. I have a locked gate not going to leave it unlocked for two days not knowing when they would be there.

To be fair to the guy that actually cut my yard he did a credible job so this review is no reflection on him.

The last straw was I got a text saying my payment (they charge your credit card and I have reviewed my statement and there is not a single invoice there) was declined. I notified them that my card had been used fraudulently and ask that they give it a couple of days since I asked my credit card company to honor that charge since it was legit. The next day I get an email saying they were suspending my service due to non payment so I again sent them notification about the problem with my card and telling to cancel the service immediately. I will take care of the charge if it still exists when I get my new card.

Bottom line I would not recommend this company for lawn service. Too much trouble to get anything done and they are NOT a full service yard company. They are an a-la-cart service with no attention paid to what else the yard needs unless you tell them. And then they bid it sight unseen. (google does not count).

I am not attaching photos because the job done was credible and I have no real complaints about the actual job.
