The overall reputation of LawnStarter is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from unreliable service, communication failures, and inadequate customer support. Many reviews highlight issues such as missed appointments, unexpected charges, and poor handling of service-related damages. While some customers report positive experiences with specific lawn care professionals, these instances are overshadowed by the company's inconsistent service and lack of accountability. The recurring themes of frustration and disappointment suggest a pressing need for LawnStarter to improve its operational transparency and responsiveness to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.

After an initial unhappiness with the service I had to cancel the service. Email specifically stated I would have no further issues, no further billing, service was cancelled. 5 months later I get a text about the service and then a few days later was billed again. I have called support and supposedly a supervisor wasn't available ( really?) so they would call me back, also sent an email reply to the initial response, still waiting, tried calling again today, still waiting, no contact, still out my money, may have to dispute the charge, ugh. Buyer beware.
When we started using lawn starter, things were fine. They came on time and did the job. However, we ending the service due to buying our own lawn equipment so we could work on our lawn ourselves. In early March, a man cam with his equipment and my husband pulled up just as he did. He asked if we had ordered lawn service and my husband told him we hadn't and he left. However, he claimed (lied) to the company that he had partially mowed our lawn and they charged us full price. It was a whole process to prove he lied. We had to send pictures and email back and forth over the course of a couple days. In the end, they believed us, but I am not pleased with their cancellation system nor their hiring dishonest employees.
I do not recommend lawnstarter at all. I contacted them on Saturday for immediate service. They told me they could get someone to one of my properties on Monday/Tuesday windows and I agreed. They asked for my card info to book the service. Unfortunately, I was driving and unable to get the card number safely and told them to call me back. They did call me back later but I was in a business meeting so I asked them to call me Sunday. When Sunday comes, I get a text in the morning from them saying they were going to call, but never did. I missed a call from them this morning, so I returned their call. They are now telling me they are still looking for a provider and they are not able to get someone to our property as promised. They then brought up an issue that they are given each customer 5 days instead of the actual appointment date. So if you set up an appointment with lawnstarter, they may not make the appointment and will not call you. Their excuse is there is a "5-day window" for services...
So you have an entire work week they might randomly come to your house from when you set your appointments. If you are looking for quick service, I highly suggest looking elsewhere.
This company wanted me to pay $88 for one mow, during which their mower only trimmed the perimeter of the property and then damaged my property. Specifically, he flipped over my Husqvarna mower ($1800 investment) - which automatically mows my lawn and replaces the need for this overpriced business anyway. Well, he snapped and broke the wires and now it won't run. I have to pay to get the Husqvarna folks out so they can repair the damage. What really bothers me is that we were at the property and the worker never asked us or called Lawn Starter about how to proceed - he just kept going while my husband and I looked on in disbelief. What a disappointment. I won't be working with them - ever again. AND I STILL only got them to drop the price to $47.75. But yes, I paid $47.75 for Lawn Starter to damage my property. What a good deal?
I've been work with LawnStarter for 2years now. It's has it's good a terrible properties an clients! Some clients are just plain old CHEAP! They want something for nothing...
I moved here to Austin from New Orleans and this was my first time dealing with a house with a lawn. It was a nightmare finding a place and when we FINALLY moved in the grass was atrocious. I mean totally overgrown, you may have had snakes and rats in it. And Lawnstarter was the first website I visited and it could NOT have been easier. They followed up right away and even did my job the day before it was supposed to be scheduled, bagged everything up and made my lawn look respectable. I've attached the after photo but if you had seen the before you would be impressed. You can even see the start of stripe patterns! I can't thank this app enough and recommend to anyone!
First they came down with no acknowledgement they were coming down. I have a small patch of grass, really weeds. I asked for cleanup in backyard as well as bring the weeds down to look normal. After 30 seconds of weed wacking he was done and no where to be found. Didn't return calls.
Bad way to start
I just started using LawnStarter and they did an excellent job. I will continue to use them and recommend LawnStarter. Thank you.
Michael was rude smelled of alcohol an hes a registered sex offender... I never want to use lawn starter again.
I had bought a new property that had not gotten a mow in 3 months! LawnStarter gave me a good quote and they came out for the service. They did an outstanding job.
My neighbors asked me about my lawn crew today because it looks so good. I'll be continuing to use LawnStarter for all my future mows
I had enough from this company for just using them once. I ordered the clean up of the front yard and the quote was 90 USD. They had canceled/rescheduled me at least 4 or 5 times, even on a sunny day without a drop of rain; eventually they send me another quote for 300 USD (including the back yard pictures) for full yard clean up. After finishing just the front yard charged me for full price. I had a couple of days discussion with their poor-attitude customer service, they didn't accept that on their last quote "full yard" is written. Just be careful what you are singing for!
Really great job. Grass is looking good. Nice edging. Looking forward to continuing service with the crew I got.
Had used them for most of the summer to mow my lawn. They did an OK job, though they never trimmed the grass next to the fence. However, when I went and signed up for leaf removal it was a disaster.
First their website spit out a quote of about $100, which I knew had to be way too low, but the site didn't give a lot of options to push it higher and more accurate. A week later, when they were scheduled to come I get a message "Needs reqoute" in the evening. No offer to give me a new quote but the system automatically rescheduled them to come back, so I figured they would give me a quote then. Nope. Same message that evening a week later, so I finally asked the guy to give me one and if he could come back sooner than when the system had rescheduled as it had been two weeks by that point. He said it would be no problem, but never did. In fact, they evidently came again almost a week later as I got another message of "Reqoute" on the automatic reschedule day. Three weeks of a yard full of leaves, I canceled all services and moved on.
I rehab properties so I am not always there. I had mowing at a property which I paused in Oct. I saw a $91.00 charge in late November for a clean up at this property, I did not ask for. They refused to help. I have used several of these services. Their app is bad, you can't see pictures of work
I was given a quote of $42. I approved this. They then charged my account over $168. They stole money out of my account, I didn't approve of this or agree to pay that amount. Also they did a horrible job, I can do a better job myself.
Omar and his crew removed leafs from my yard for way less than what it should have been. Definitely no complaints here.
I may be a small homeowner with rental property but I can tell you that lawn starters have always showing up on time their prices are within reason I have had other person's from Craigslist and referrals and they all start out with a good price and then escalate the price and I understand theylhave bigger fish to fry I'm a small-time operator. Lawnstarters are consistence they always show up on time their price is always the same I don't have to call and find out where they're at I highly recommend them especially if you have smaller rental properties they obviously do a good enough business so they can string all the small accounts together
Answer: This company is a scam, they get your credit card and charge for "extra services you did not request.
Answer: I have spent nearly $200 and my yard still looks like trash. Find someone else to do your yard. These people charge for work they never complete!
Answer: LawnStarter.com does not employ lawn guys. They use contractors that might be in the area and willing to do the work. Neither are responsible for property damages like sprinklers, shattered windows, etc.
