The overall reputation of LawnStarter is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from unreliable service, communication failures, and inadequate customer support. Many reviews highlight issues such as missed appointments, unexpected charges, and poor handling of service-related damages. While some customers report positive experiences with specific lawn care professionals, these instances are overshadowed by the company's inconsistent service and lack of accountability. The recurring themes of frustration and disappointment suggest a pressing need for LawnStarter to improve its operational transparency and responsiveness to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.

They are the worst when it comes lawn care. I specifically asked not to cut my lawn low and they did anyway. They don't speak English or understand anything your saying. The crew used a mower with a dull blade which damaged my grass and left patches everywhere. You must agree to 3 cuts before you can cancel your order which is outrageous! I canceled my contract with this ridiculous company.
The first time, they only did half the job, then I had to have them come back to mow the back yard. For the next appointment, they never showed. I messaged the crew and they said they were on their way. I was still waiting for them to show up 3 to 4 days later and the crew was still saying they were on their way. At that point I told them not to bother coming and they haven't. Bit they billed me $48 on June 15 for a service they did not do. I ended up cutting my own grass. I would not recommend this company.
The person showed up a day late, only mowed back yard, He did not follow directions left in app that included speak to owner when you arrive. He showed and did not notify me he was on property. I spoke to customer service rep. To order/start service. Ordered weekly mow service for entire yard. Some how it changed to back yard, and all notes about property disappeared from app. I called customer service to report and was on hold for over a hour the 1st time, second time i pushed button for them to call me back instead of holding on phone. I also put message in app to call me and called and spoke to department you place order with, who was not helpful. Transferred me to another dept. who did not answer phone. Getting service is easy. Getting help with service problems, good luck! They do not answer phone. I canceled service. Buyer beware, bad service and bad customer service.
Showed up and did a great job the first time. 2nd time mowed the front yard, edged half of the back yard and then left. Got a text message that he couldn't access the back yard even though he had been back there and weedeated half the lawn. Then got another message that they would find another crew to finish within 48 hours. 2 days later another message that they couldn't find another crew and were unable to finish what they started. NEVER AGAIN!
I signed up with LawnStarters the beginning of May to have my 2 flower beds weeded. It's now the middle of June and they have never showed up to do the work. All they do is reschedule. As a result it's gotten over grown now. Don't waste your time with these people. They are completely unreliable
I gave two stars because my last mover was alright but other than that they deserve none! They are literal crooks and have taken money from my account base on a lie that they fabricated. No one in the world would pay $93.99 each time to have their grass mowed on a small lot! Than no one ever came to mow the grass and money was taken from my account of which they will not return. May God handle this situation and give them what they have given everyone else. How do you still from people during a pandemic - GREED! You cannot get through to a human unless you are a new customer. They were charging me for service that did not exist!
I had experiences with lawn crews that either kept messing up my yard or were not coming back at all period. I started using lawnstarter and I seriously doubted that the job would be done. And I seriously doubted it would be done this beautifully, and like clock work every two weeks they come out and take care of it without me having to call and remind them. Wow.
He did not complete the mowing or weed eating and failed to blow the clippings and leaves off the back deck. And have now charged my account again for mowing... which I did not request. Will discontinue use of them.
Two years and four crews later they've all been consistent in not keeping schedule and unprofessional.
I pay for this service for my Mom in College Station, Tx. She was overwhelmed with how kind the people were that mowed her lawn and trimmed her bushes! (I was overwhelmed with how cheap it was!) The bushes look FANTASTIC from what they did! Thank yall so much for providing such a fantastic gift to my Mom! Saves her time for more precious things!
I have been a customer since May 11th. I signed up for biweekly cuts. Crew came a day earlier then they were supposed to and left me with a yard that was 1/4 cut due to dog poop. Had they told me then obviously the yard would have been cleaned up. So they assigned me a new crew. No one has been out to cut my grass since. They told me they can't find a crew. The whole purpose of this company is to assign crews to properties! This is a terrible company!
Advertised a $19 intro offer so I scheduled the service for June 1 (4 days notice). On May 31 they emailed me saying "due to high service demand in your area we can't find a crew fit for your needs". I don't know what type of "fit" is required other than a lawn mower and people operating the mower. Never contacted me for alternate dates. If they had I would've gladly paid the going rate of $60-70 instead of the $19 offer which was clearly bogus. Curious how many of those $19 services they've completed.
They havent been here in two weeks, I've canceled my service, and they just charged my card 20 $#*!ing more dollars. My first mow was supposed to be 19 bucks. They charged me almost 60 because of additional fees. I was willing to accept that my grass was pretty long so sure.
But the next two times they were supposed to be there THEY rescheduled. So why am I being charged for the grass being long? This is a scam. They pushed my service dates back till my grass was too long and charged me 65 dollars. $#*! this company, this isnt the price I agreed to.
They lock you into 3 mows with the promise of low prices, and then overcharge you everytime. Not acceptable.
I used this service for about 4 years while I'm lived out of state and was generally satisfied with the service until the crew changed. The new crew damaged my electrical pipe that protected my cable wires and mowed down a newly planted bush (they ignored the notes in the app to mowed over my plant). I ended up just buying a weed eater and started doing my own lawn. My weed eater cost as much as one mow of the service. I moved back to my primary residence so there's no need for a landscaper now. I started mowing and edging my lawn again.
Horrible horrible service. Long story short they hire contractors, I had 4 out of 4 they told me would be coming not show up! Total scam!
When you ask a lawn service company to begin mowing your lawn the week of April 26 you expect that it will happen sometime that week. Next I get a communication that says they will be there May 3 or 4. But because of a deluge of rain on May 3 (less than. 10 of an inch) they had to delay that service until May 8 or 10. They arrived about 8:30 PM on May 10 (two weeks late) and mowed the lawn, not entirely successfully until total darkness. I cancelled our service and hired another company that week. The following Monday a crew showed up and said they would be in trouble if we didn't let them mow our lawn. Lawnstarters uses GPS to track the whereabouts of their crews.
Apparently Lawnstarters has a policy that you can't cancel your contract unless they have serviced you at least 3 times. Even if they have broken the agreement with no or delayed service. Sounds like the American way.
My tiny yard takes half hour to mow. They didn't blow off driveway after mowing a yard that had just been done (they change times and days of mow due to weather), but use your common sense! If you hire them to mow, that's all you get. I asked for weeds to be removed in the under the chainlink fence, an extra charge. They cut some twigs from a stump and charged. The driveway and side walks were not blown off. These things are what I would expect included.
I called lawnstarters because i was in need of having my yard serviced and they told me they would be able to come out and service my area they waited to the last minute and sent me a email stating that they could not service the area because it was not a high demand area. That's why I called this company to come out because I was off work this weekend and I got this email from them as to what they can't do at the last minute. Be careful with this company they will tell u one thing and at the last minute send u a email telling u something they can't do this is something they suppose to know for sure because they take your debit information if they can't service the area and I could have found someone else.
Been a member for a little while. Getting them to answer the phone is a TRUE HASSLE for existing customers, yet they answer for potential customers. I have been overcharged 3 TIMES! And have yet to be reimbursed or called back. It takes a week for them to call you back. The lawn care providers are subpar, or at least the several that I've gotten. When one decides your lawn doesn't fit their schedule, they don't find a replacement, you have to complain to get them replaced. They're losing a customer with me.

Answer: LawnStarter.com does not employ lawn guys. They use contractors that might be in the area and willing to do the work. Neither are responsible for property damages like sprinklers, shattered windows, etc.
