Beware! I've used Lawn Starter for about a year in Tampa, FL. Everything was great until the last few months. The crew destroyed 3 sprinklers; customer service only agreed to cover a part of my $164 bill to replace them. A couple months later, they damaged 2 more sprinklers. This time customer service rep, Kylie, wrote to me that it was my fault and refused to assist and reimburse me for yet another fix. They even refused to reimburse $$ for the service that caused the damage. Unacceptable and disappointing treatment of their customers. Will never use LS services again.

Pushy Call Center

The only thing I dislike more than those who never call back is those who are pushy…and even more so when they continue to call after you have told them not to. These people have people on their phones who refuse to leave you alone. One of them spoke with such a thick foreign accent that I could not understand her.

My wife and I relocated to Augusta, GA in 2021. I quickly discovered that I was not physically up to mowing a 1/4 acre lawn. So I called Lawnstarters for a quote. They promptly provided a reasonable quote for weekly mowing and proceeded to do an excellent job. Our front lawn never looked better! This year, after spending a few weeks cleaning the backyard, I added the back yard to the service order. They did a terrific job for us. They have also performing tree and bush pruning -- both of which were excellent.

William and his team are hard-working, professional, and friendly. They do a wonderful job on our lawns helping to make sure they look as good or even better than our neighbor's lawns! I can highly recommend LawnStarters!

Someone says they mowed my lawn in December, but it was 37° outside. No one mows the lawn in this area after early to mid October. Because of cold winters, grass just doesn't grow until the spring. Then last month in January, again someone said they showed up to mow, but this time we had a foot of snow! That would be impossible to mow with a foot of snow on the ground. Then later in January, they also said they showed up, but there was still a good 6" of snow on the ground.
I reached out to Lawn Starter, and they promised to correct it. They have not, so I filed a BBB report. Someone is lying and saying that they're mowing lawns when they're not. And I'm sure that I am not the only person they are doing this to!
Regardless, this was supposed to be taken care of in December, only to find my bank being charged on January 9 for $48.75, again, when we had a foot of snow on the ground. I have spent hours trying to get this taken care of and have emails showing that I have reached out to LawnStarter more than once. I didn't know where else to go but to file a complaint with BBB. A contractor is lying and thieving, thinking they won't get caught. If I have to go to court, I will - out of principle. I have spent hours trying to resolve this, but to date, I have not received the refund, and the complaint has not been resolved.

This company has been billing me biweekly during the winter season when my grass has been completely dead. They don't even show up to the property, but send a message stating that they came including tonight. I cancelled my service, they skipped the typical day, but then showed that they came Sunday. I have not left my home all day, my grass is dead, yet still sending a bill for $40 dollars. Do not use this service! If I could give zero stars I would.

We had a crew cutting our lawn that was decent until they hit the water inlet pipe going into the house with their mower. The crew left without saying anything. I found out about the pipe when my son went into the bathroom and it was flooded. I had to have the water shut off and call a plumber to replace the pipe. The plumber had to make a hole in our wall to replace the pipe. I made a claim providing pictures of the damage along with a picture of the receipt from the plumber. They tell me that my claim is denied. I'm very disappointed with the way it was handled.

After breaking my 2 gate on one side of the house I called in for a complaint and to file a claim. You can never ever talk to the claims department only reach them by email. They told me I need to ask for bids and quotes then submit. I would then pay and they send in for "possible" reimbursement. I responded no. I will not waste my time to fix an issue I did not cause. It's up to them to have someone evaluate my claim and get it corrected and resolved. After calling and and waiting I had them nailed my fence shut. This not only helped so my pup didn't get out but so it would not have a chance to open again, being we have 2 side gates and they went through the front right the first 2 times I'd assume they would not use that entry again because CLEARLY it was broken. They had then- used the gate again. They moved 2 bricks, opened a metal gate and then broke open a wooden gate THAT WAS NAILED SHUT! I am not even joking. Called fussed, emailed and cursed. A month goes by and again. After finding temporary remedies to our broken gate issue and having a pup trying to escape- we just borded the side and placed what we could to block until november 22 Kimberly gray had once again used there brilliant brains and broke open the stupid effing gate. My dog got out and got hit by a car. My $1500 family member. I am cancelling and submitting all my documents to small claims court. Do yourself a favor and don't use them.

Overcharged me $230 and refusing to refund my money. Instead gave me a credit that I can't even use because they suspended my account and when attempting to sign in, it says service is not available in my area. This company is trash! Keep my change. You're welcome.

Great

Great experience so far! Quick service and easy use of app. Super convenient to request any service and get quotes. I was able to resolve issues that had been left for months with my previous lawn care apps. Much better and more reliable than other apps. Better quality contractors as well. LawnGuru was AWFUL! And Greenpal was ok. It looked like I did the lawn work myself with LawnGuru and I'm from the city with approximately 5 days of total life experience with yard work (and cheap equipment). The services are also well priced on LawnStarter, so I also enjoy (and frequently take advantage) of the opportunity to leave tips after service.

Dreadful service

Crew came out, mowed the front yard and left the backyard untouched. I called and was told that the gate was locked, I said 1. The gate can't be locked 2. I was home and the crew didn't ring the doorbell or text. I was told that the crew would come back, again instead of doing anything but glance at the gate, they took off again, again I was home. Third time I called I said that my dog who doesn't have opposable thumbs can open the gate, why can't the crew? Last time I literally opened both gates wide open, this time no crew arrived. Finally, I was told that they were very sorry and I wouldn't be charged for their "service". I checked my bank account and I have been charged full price.

Don't even waste your time

Don't waste your time with this company. Workers were very inconsistent, half of the time they no showed and we ended up having to get another company to mow. The people they hire also don't know how to assess the lawn. They ended up coming at an unscheduled time a day after we had a private company mow our lawn since we could not rely on lawnstarter to come ever and they made our well manicured lawn look like total crap. What a waste of time and money. We called the company to complain and they were very unreasonable. My advice is find a reliable company... not lawnstarter.

LawnStarter set the expectations for my experience and failed to meet them in all respects. Imagine ordering a ride through Uber and the driver not showing up. Ok, sometimes things happen. So you might contact support and they assure you a new driver will be on its way. And then that driver doesn't show up. Would you trust that service if they said they will send a third driver? I couldn't. I tried. Now my lawn is two weeks past when it needed to be mowed and I've got to go do instead of spending time with my newborn son, completely defeating the whole purpose of my having signed up in the first place. Very disappointed. Turns out the marketing was just hype.

Awesome crews

Kudos to the gentleman who comes to my home to mow my tricky lawn. I have some flowerbeds that I don't want disturbed by mowing and they do a commendable job at keeping them in tact. The mower always does a great job. I'm always quite pleased with the results because they do a near, competent job. The first time I used the service I was so surprised they completed the grass cutting in about the third of the time it usually took me to do it. I guess that's the difference between me cutting the grass myself or hiring a real pro who takes pride in his work to do the job for me.

On August 15 my crew cancelled so the scheduled someone else.
Talked to Maria on August 24 who rescheduled my service.
Talked to Reagan on August 30 who rescheduled me again.
Talked to Sarah on September 1 who rescheduled again.
Talked to Andre on September 2 who rescheduled me again.
Talked to Sophia on September 7 am. Donnie is supposed to come today.
Spoke to Karla on Sept 07 pm. Donnie is not coming. She will see who can come tomorrow.
Talked to Roxanne on Sept 8 am. Someone is coming today.
Talked to Rachel on Sept 8 pm. They are still supposed to come today. No one came.
Talked to Enrique on Sept 9. He rescheduled me with some one else in 24-48 hrs.
Talked to Julia on Sept 10 and cancelled all further services and hired someone else...

TOTALLY UNSATISFIED

RUN, DONT WALK, RUN! WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER USED FOR ANY REASON. SERVICE WAS SET FOR 9/3. GOT A MESSAGE FROM THE CONTRACTOR SAYING HE COULDNT DO IT FIR 2 WEEKS. I CALLED AND WAS TOLD "NO PROBLEM, WE'LL GET SOMEONE THERE BETWEEN FRIDAY AND MONDAY" OF COURES NO ONE SHOWED UP SO I CALLED AND WAS TOLD I WAS ON THE SCHEDULE FOR THE 29TH! NO ONE EVEN LET ME KNOW. NO MESSAGE, NO PHONE CALL, NOTHING. DEFINATELY NO HELP AT ALL WHEN I CALLED, JUST EXCUSES. DON'T TRUST THIS SCAM! ONLY GOT ONE STAR BECAUSE I CANT GIVE ZERO!

My son contacted this company on a Monday to mow my lawn. Everything was supposedly set and they were going to come out that Wednesday or Thursday. They never showed and all attempts to reach them have been ignored. Two weeks later my grass is even higher. No customer service whatsoever!
