The overall reputation of LawnStarter is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from unreliable service, communication failures, and inadequate customer support. Many reviews highlight issues such as missed appointments, unexpected charges, and poor handling of service-related damages. While some customers report positive experiences with specific lawn care professionals, these instances are overshadowed by the company's inconsistent service and lack of accountability. The recurring themes of frustration and disappointment suggest a pressing need for LawnStarter to improve its operational transparency and responsiveness to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.

I've been extremely satisfied since I found Lawn starter. My lawn has not looked this amazing. Gregory is incredible and always does a great job. Today he stayed in the rain to complete his work. Finally, great service, beautiful lawn, convenient, great pricing. I'm a very happy client!
I requested a quote via their website, and the second I gave them my email address I started getting 100 spam emails a day where I previously received none. They also require your phone number to request a quote, and they will absolute HOUND you until you block their numbers. Multiple texts and phone calls a day for several days.
Do not give this company your personal information for any reason. I'm thankful I never gave them my credit card info. Stay far away.
I would give this NO stars if possible. The app does not notify you of anything! My crew did not show up and then was canceled altogether with no notifications being sent. Support staff can't help you and do not document anything. There is no history of your calls, so don't try calling. Chat in the app does nothing. This could be a fraudulent business, they have very suspicious business practices and no escalation policy. I never got help and it's been 10 days since I was sold the service. BEWARE. Update: Just told there are no mowers in my area after wasting all this time.
We had the nicest lawn on our block…until I hired Lawn Starter. We had an excellent person that mowed our lawn better than anyone had before. He moved so I set up lawn starter—bad mistake. They cut the back lawn I would qualify as fair. But they butchered the front lawn by scalping about 7 Areas. Apparently with their riding mower. My lawn is standard size so it was overkill with that mower. Then wanted to leave even though a large section of lawn was cut higher than the rest. When I said I would finish it, they took out their push mower and finished the mowing. I immediately canceled the service and will never again use Lawn Starter!
Lawnstarter.com has been for the most part very helpful in finding good lawn care workers who come to your house and home to do the job of taking care of your lawn needs. They will do their best to find the best person to do the work you need done. To be truthful, it may take a while sometimes to find that perfect fit (and sometimes it may not happen for you). However, when they do, it is a really great thing and you appreciate the effort they went to in finding the right lawn crew.
They just assign the independent provider and never follow up the service. Lawn mowing is time sensitive seasonal duty but I have experienced 6+ no show, even after schedule confirmation on the phone call. Crew told me that they could not come assigned date due to the low price from Lawnstarter, thus you will be the last service only after they finished all other job just incase they can. This company keep saying sorry we will reschedule your service, nothing else we could do saying sorry to you (every 6 no show). I believe that even someone got service on time luckily ( like the chance that you got free ticket by other cancelation), constant service would be difficult unless they have minimal ethical responsibility to the customer. They won't change this irresponsible policy since someone will get service paying benefits to this company anyway.
Arranged for them to cut a half acre vacant lot for $19 first cut and $61 for two more. Their guy showed up and refused to cut unless I agreed to pay him $121 saying the grass was too high. I feel swindled. I cancelled the service and if they charge my credit card will dispute tge charge. Stay away from thus listing service. They have no quality control.
Had first cut of cutting grass at $19. The only thing done was cutting grass with no edging. My garage pole was knocked down. I communicated with servicer and was told I had to use app, which I did but before that I talked directly to servicer and had agreed on $19 first cut and $40 biweekly and cutting alley grass behind garage. After going back and forth with servicer, I decided to look elsewhere. This was a bad experience and my pole is still on the ground.
After numerous scheduling problems and multiple assigned crews I had to mow my own lawn. Then one crew sent a message that they had mowed my lawn without any warning they were coming. I had just mowed it a day earlier and they did nothing but reported they had mowed it and charged my account.
Trying to get someone to respond is impossible. Avoid and save yourself great frustration.
This is the worst lawn care experience I have had in over 30 years. First I was given a start date that was changed, then rescheduled, then the crew was changed. Then over a week after it was to be mowed someone showed up without a mower and used a weed eater for the entire lawn. A few days later I mowed it myself.
Then the crew was changed again and the next guy showed up with a broken mower and was to come back the next day. He never showed up and 5 days later I mowed it myself.
The next day I get notice that my lawn had been mowed and my account was charged. However, no one came and mowed my lawn. So I am now the victim of a fraudulent charge.
Now I see that the crew has been changed again and they are supposed to come out in the next couple of days, even though I have tried to cancel.
Absolute garbage, do NOT use. They quoted me $20 for my first mow, showed up with a giant riding lawn mower that wouldn't fit through my gate (and yes, they asked gate dimensions when I signed up, it's a normal gate, just not riding-lawnmower-sized), cut my small front yard and left. Said they couldn't complete the mow, so sorry, here's $10 back and we'll see you in two weeks... BTW your mow was $80 cuz long grass and other reasons, lul. Had to write angry messages to support for them to even send someone back out to do the back. Insane.
But it doesn't end there. They came back again two weeks later, mowed again... just checked my account, and they're hitting me with *another* long grass fee. Total mow $88 this time, for a regular mow of a smallish yard, with recently cut grass. Insane.
I'm locked in to one more mow before I can cancel services or they'll fine me who knows how much more (probably at *least* another $80). Oh, and the cut was $#*! and they left clippings sprayed all over my patio and furniture.
I reached out to this company in good faith a couple weeks before Memorial Day and they promised that I would have my lawn for $19 first off and then someone hit me up and said they were coming that day and they never showed up a couple days later I received another message saying another company was going to come and they never showed up or Memorial Day I received a message from a company saying that he was going to showed up and at this point I'm fed up the guy I talked to me so recklessly and I cancelled my services never have I had anyone mow my lawn from this company but yet their study asking me to update my payment information even after I have canceled and today I see that they actually debited my account for $28.99 what I need to know is is that the charge for downloading the app because that is the only thing that I did and I actually talk to someone verbally on the phone from customer service so is that your charge $28.99 to actually talk to of person verbally over the phone because I had no service done I actually received a fine from my county refert of $75 because my grass had grown too tall and no one's still came out to mow the lawn very very disappointed with this company and would like to be refunded my $28.99 back thank you very much
These people have rescheduled multiple times. No one has shown up. Customer service is pointless. They simply don't care except to tell me I have to use them three times before I can cancel I can't even get their unprofessional, sending texts at 4:30 am people to show up. You think I'll give them three mows when they can't get it together to do one? People are given $20 to leave a positive review on NextDoor. Pay attention to the common theme here and on other places like Facebook. It's a scam at worst and unprofessional and disorganized at best. Do you want either around your home? BBB gives them an F.
They advertise a 1 time cut but will not do a single cut and certainly not for the advertised $19 for your first cut.
Absolutely ran horribly. 10 times I gave them the correct address and they were sending a crew somewhere else. Then for the correct address want to charge more, yet the backyard has zero grass
Due to health issues, I was unable to mow, and the grass was getting too high. Lawnstarter seemed like a simple online solution, but for three weeks the crews they've contracted have repeatedly rescheduled/canceled, without warning. I was finally assessed a steep fee as the grass was so high, and I still have no idea if the landscaper will actually show up. Meanwhile the city has cited me for my grass being too high, and the deadline to have it cut is fast approaching.
There seems to be no number I can call to work this out, and their online customer service has yet to respond. I genuinely regret not doing the legwork myself to call independent landscapers, which I would highly recommend you do instead of going through Lawnstarter.
This was my first time to use lawn starter, I rescheduled for a closer time and date due to the Rain. This was confirmed your many me emails and phone calls oh, I was told emails were not received but Irish kept all of them. I informed them I did not do the job myself for I have suffered a stroke recently and one was unable, I am at my wit's end I feel like I am being taken advantage of. The next rescheduling was supposed to be for June 2nd and was even told no matter what it was fit into this date and nobody showed and nobody responded. By the time I could point this out the business was closed for the day. How does that sound
Contacted this company 2 start lawn service. Was supposed 2 show up May 26th or 27th. I called Friday was told they were coming. No show, no calls!
Dishonest and unreliable … charging a weekly fee but failing to come and do the job. They hire unreliable people who often do not show up
They lawn mow someother address and took my money and won't refund it. And blame me for putting a different address. Y would I put someone's address to pay for it. When my home needs the help. Karma goes to this company.
I had lawn moving scheduled for May 11th. It is currently May 26th and the lawn isn't mowed. About half a dozen cancellations/reschedules, three different service providers, one service that did maybe a quarter of the lawn, and several phone calls/emails to Lawnstarter. I gave up and asked for a refund after the website stopped even updating my scheduled service. Now I need to pay another company for a long grass fee.
Answer: This company is a scam, they get your credit card and charge for "extra services you did not request.
Answer: I have spent nearly $200 and my yard still looks like trash. Find someone else to do your yard. These people charge for work they never complete!
Answer: LawnStarter.com does not employ lawn guys. They use contractors that might be in the area and willing to do the work. Neither are responsible for property damages like sprinklers, shattered windows, etc.
