I started lawn starters two years ago and they only had one thing that was consistent, excuses why they couldn't come and charges die to grass not being mowed as promised. Your assigned crew? Only if you're willing to wait for mows about a month but wait there is more! You too can be charged an additional fee because your grass in now too long cause we don't keep our promised dates to you. 70 degrees with cool breeze and the excuse is "in climate weather"? Hmmm, I decided to end this and canceled my service just for them to reply back that they plan to charge me a fee cause they were in the schedule, yes you know, the one they make and don't keep.
Oh fyi, they are not BBB affiliated and have years of negative reviews.
LawnStarter.com is the biggest ripoff I've come by lately. STAY AWAY. I signed up with them because their rep said they could start on a certain date. I immediately got a notification from them wanting to move the date. Great, I've been a client for hours and they're already jerking me around. So I told them to cancel the account. And appropriately no one ever showed up. But guess what? My credit card gets charged. I was a little busy so I couldn't deal with these guys right away. Guess a second time what happened? Yes, I was charged a second time. So, I call them today. I stupidly choose billing problem when prompted. On hold over 20 minutes. Hang up. Call back and select new customer. And wouldn't you know it, a real person answers in 30 seconds. Funny how that works. Tells you all you need to know about this dishonest company. STAY AWAY. Of course this person can't help me and transfers me to "support." On hold for 60 minutes this time and nothing. Not even any terrible muzak to enjoy. Looks like I'm going to have to go through my credit card company to get the charges for services never rendered removed. Did I mention to STAY AWAY from this disreputable sham of a company?

I want to start off with I have never left a bad review on any service only good! I hired this company for my airbnb and they were suppose to go Monday. I received a message about an emergency that they reschedule for Wednesday. I got a call from a guest that grass was horrible. I called the company thinking they went and NO ONE went! No one called me to let me know! And after being on the phone for 35 min supervisor said sorry no one can go until next Monday! So my guest have to stay with ugly grass and no one ever even called me so that I could at least hire someone else. At least get some one there right away for the HUGE mistake they made. UNRELIABLE place!

UPDATE: I turned 1 star into 3 because the problems were resolved as per the information at the bottom of the review.
I signed up for this service and chose Tues-Wed as my mow day. Once I signed up and paid the intro rate, my mow was scheduled for Fri-Sat without my consent.
Once I was assigned a mower, I contacted them through the portal about property lines and requested services.
No answer.
Tried again, no answer.
I called LS about the date and the mower not responding. They said they'd contact them and tell them to respond.
No answer.
Thursday the mower arrives even though our range was Fri-Sat. He said his route put him in my area Thursdays.
He didn't head my instructions on property lines, skipped spots, and didn't bother edging.
He also did not follow instructions on closing the gate. I made it enormously clear because our dog is deaf and blind and will escape.
After the mow I get a notification from her GPS collar that she's outside perimeter. I freak out, run around the neighborhood to find her across the road and near the lake. Keep in mind she can't hear and can barely see. The gate was wide open.
I text the mower about it and the spots his skipped. He says he did close it, but not in the way I explained.
He comes back on a different day than Thurs even though that's what he said he'd be arriving. He hits most of the spots but neglects one.
I text him to correct it. No answer.
I text him that Wed to ask about trimming. He says he's busy and would call that night.
Never called.
I wake up to an email that says my next mow was rescheduled for Mon-Tues for an unknown reason.
I emailed support. They say I can't cancel this close to a scheduled mow even though they rescheduled to a sooner date! I complain about the mower not edging, and as a response they remind me what services are included.
I research the FAQ. Edging *is* included. I complain about this to LS.
No answer.
I call LS Tues to cancel even though the mower is scheduled to come that day. They convince me to stay on & promise to replace the mower to someone who will come Thurs.
No one comes Thurs of Fri like promised.
I call LS. They say a new mower was never scheduled! So they *promise* me a new mower by Mon-Tues.
I leave scathing reviews. Megan from LS calls me, apologizes profusely, gives me a bunch of credits and refunds, guarantees better service.
New mower comes and follows instructions with no issue.
Megan is my savior.
They've asked me to update my review, so I am. Megan's miraculous help does not erase the past, but she made my life infinitely easier, and now I don't have to find a new mower myself.
Thank you Megan. You saved the day and you should seriously get a raise. You turned everything around.

First pro denied service after rescheduling. Second pro rescheduled me 6 times and then showed up without a lawn mower only a weed eater and wasn't able to even start on the fire pit. Didn't do any edging at all! And the grass around the house and edges of the property aren't cut. Also damaged siding on my house and garden decorations. Very disappointed I want to immediately cancel. No more services! Completely horrible service and tried to charge me extra at every turn even though I was already quoted over $200. I don't want these people to touch my yard! I tried to cancel and the app wont let me. Honestly I wouldn't have minded keeping it for the 3 minimum but this is just a rip off and so disappointing!
Updating my review: I have heard from the company and submitted for damages to be compensated for for both holes in the siding on my home and damaged garden items. LawnStarter has closed my case without reimbursement or repairs offered and stated that the lawn guy denied doing anything and is saying it was damaged before. This is completely untrue. Had I known this was what would happen by signing up for lawn care with them I would never have done it.
Update: Ms Megan with customer service has reached out to me and has corrected the issue. She was very kind and patient and helped me through this whole thing. I appreciate it. 5 stars for Ms Megan

Abel has done a very great job on my lawn. My dog is happy again because the yard is well maintained; so we get to play outside more without him worrying about weeds. Thank you Abel so much! Highly recommend him!

I was a customer but there was only one service on time. I initiated service May 4 then was emailed when the next service would be however no one came out and I was charged for both services prior to completion. I will report this to the better business bureau. I would like a refund. I got so tired of the lies that I canceled the service. I am tired of paying for services not recieved.

After reading reviews I booked LawnStarter services, that was a mistake. A crew came a day early without notice and only did 1/3 of the job. I contacted the provider and they said they would come back and complete the job but had to pay cash. I contacted customer support, wasted over 40 minutes and I was assured a manager would contact me and correct the issue. Instead, I received another email saying another crew was coming out. Shortly after, I was messaged and told that the provider didn't feel that my lawn needed to be mowed and left. I contact s the provider and she said they rescheduled to June 9th… I did not ask for the service to be postponed, I have an event next weekend and now have to spend god know how much longer on the phone to get money back, cancel this contract and ensure others do not have to go through this horrible experience. Shame on customer service for making this process so difficult and not correcting the shortcomings of their vendors. Avoid at all cost!

They cane two weeks then didn't show up the third week. I hired another company which is when I found out they were not mowing the back lawn. What a fraud since they charged me for the whole lawn.

Hired these people to take over my lawn. The first crew they sent didn't do a good job of mowing, triggering and edging. I complained and they keep my $62.59. They then assigned another provider. They decided to not show up and committing to the job. When I called to cancel the entire service and get my refund of $115.00, they only wanted to give me $34.26. What scrum. Run from these people.

Lawnstarter helped me get quality lawn care right when I needed it. I am allergic to grass, and family would usually assist with lawn care but things happen. I appreciate this service and the crew that came out yesterday was top notch and efficient.

I wanted to try them out- since we cut our own grass and my husband is healing from an injury.
AWFUL- the first service was $19.99 and then a min 2 more services afterward. For 70+ dollars each- I said ok thats reasonable considering they are professional and come out as schedualed and the sales rep seemed to be logging what I needed done.
NO. They came the first time and did a half job- missing multiple spots and leaving weeds not weed eaten, grass clumps and rocks flying into my house and windows. I was trying to give them another chance. Because for $19 i figured maybe they where rushing or something. And I can KIND OF understand not being invested as much if your not being paid well... I left a $12 tip I would have left more if I where happy.
The next mow- They delayed by several days for a personal reason ( Ok no problem im not that picky), so $70 + tip ( I still was not happy but understood so I left another small tip to show some kind of appreciation) THEN lawnstarter CHARGED ME $171 DOLLARS! To mow a lawn that is half moss and weeds and partial grass. We had trees cut down so the lawn is still growing back... lawnstarter AUTOMATICALLY CHARGES "tall grass fee" after not showing up when they said they would due to a "personal issues" and missing multiple spots the first time... I was trying to be nice and give them a chance but I would not suggest anyone use this service at this time. Its called FRAUD and I am contacting my Bank about this and would suggest anyone else who has had issues being deceived and overcharged for "nonexistent" 6 inch grass please work with your bank to bring an end to this scam. I know the company actually OVERCHARGES automatically the Long grass fee thinking people wont push back. I feel deceived Im so confused as to what is actually happening.
Im just going to hire someone local from Nextdoor or Thumbtack where I wont have hidden things

Answer: This company is a scam, they get your credit card and charge for "extra services you did not request.
Answer: I have spent nearly $200 and my yard still looks like trash. Find someone else to do your yard. These people charge for work they never complete!
