We contacted this company hoping to hire lawn care services based on reviews which I can no longer trust. They texted they will call me back from their office. Their office number is a local number however the person on the other line is actually calling from another country as evident by the heavy Filipino accent and consistent line disconnect. Also, it seems they sell your personal information because we have been getting a lot of SCAM phone calls since contacting this company!

Don't show up on time!

Lawn Starter passed my job to three separate crews who all cancelled within the time frame requested. I cancelled any future services and hired another vendor. They showed up a week late and charged me for a service that wasn't requested. There is no customer service number and I have gone back and forth multiple times through email to only get the same response. I would encourage shoppers to find independent crews who are reliable. They will also the entire payment rather than Lawn Starter taking a significant portion!

Scam

Scam! Beware of awful and subpar service. The provider cut twice my lawn and twice he damaged my property. There is no customer support and I was overcharged despite the property damages. This is a joke and a scam. Avoid hiring at all costs.

I had so many issues with this company, from billing to customer service to damaged property. Initial service was suppose to be $18. Not only was I charged the full standard fee but also added a "long grass fee". I had to challenge it and after a couple of correspondences they did remove the long grass fee but still paid the full fee. Also, the first crew damaged my wooden fence gate and scalped part of my lawn. They requested I send them an appraisal for the fence repair but then canceled my complaint because I did not get the appraisal to them in time. They never addressed the scalping of the lawn. I was required to have 3 mowings for the $18 special introductory offer (which I never received). The third mowing was done by a different crew for some reason who used equipment that looked and sounded barely capable of even starting. I sent a second complaint about the scalping but have yet to hear back from them. I would NOT recommend this company.

Upon returning home from vacation I saw my gate/fence had been damaged. I called a fence repair company to do the repair. They looked at where the damage was and said this was definitely done by a mower type machine. I immediately called lawn guru and told any damage had to be reported within 48 hour,.tough to do when not home.
The lawn was mowed twice while we were gone. The second mow showed a photo that was not even my street and the lawn guru app showed the mower arrived then left within two minutes. But, they paid him. I called to let them know a payment had been made for work not done.
I contacted the better business bureau in Michigan which is their home base to get help with the cost of gate repair. Received email today saying lawn guru would not respond. They will be posting that on the BBB website.
Good luck if you deal with this company. I wish I would have read the massive number of reviews that warned using this company.

Horrible

We paied them to weed and take care of the area in front of our house where there's a few bushes for the season (spring summer fall). We paied after agreeing to the quote. They only weeded it once it was highly overgrown over a month later and now won't do it again. We tried to contact them but they after sending us in circles, suggested us to resubmit the work request and have a new quote made. We already paied for this work that they were paied to do, but isn't being done, we are not paying again! Even when weeks later people from their company said they wanted to help it was always the same run around with nothing being resolved and them outright lying in the end or saying the contract said it wasn't for a year when it said EXACTLY that, in print, on the quote in plain English. They never did resolve it. Horrible company stay away!l

Super unreliable. It took multiple reschedules and cancellations just to get my first lawn mow. Then the person showed up and their lawn mower broke partway through so didn't finish. Didn't even have the equipment to edge, which was included in my service. Then to get to the second crew there were again more reschedules and cancellations, then they told me my lawn was too long to mow and gave me a $180 bill because it was too long. I've spent more time arguing with them on the phone and dealing with their incompetence than if I had just mowed myself.

Trying to cancel and it keeps going to voicemail, which they don't respond to.

Terrible company. Do not use.terrible company. Do not use.

Don't do it

If you looking for a lawn service that does your yard on time, this is not the place. They going keep rescheduling you or they going do the job on the last day. And don't let it be a little rain or they going use that as an excuse to come later or reschedule. Get yourself I trusted lawn service in your area, this just ppl that cut grass with no company or care in the world when they come smh

I used LawnStarter this summer season on a weekly schedule in Oklahoma City. Over 25 weeks we had 8 cancellations, 5 reschedules, 1 skip and 1 half completed job. YES! Half the yard cut, the other half left untouched. LawnStarter does not source consistent providers, their scheduling in unreliable and the customer support is non-existent. I do not recommend using this service. Save yourself the time and hassle. Absolutely UNRELIABLE.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. Renting a townhome and figured it would be easier to utilize this company than purchasing a lawnmower and trimmer. In hindsight I could have saved a lot of money had I just made the investment in my own equipment. I had my regular mower quit immediately when he broke my neighbors front glass door with a rock, his replacement half cut my grass, and when they sent out a replacement for that team, they charged me a long grass fee because of the previous poor job. Even if you think in the short term this company is good, they will disappoint you.

Convenient and Timely

LawnStarter came through for me after I had hurt my knee and my other lawncare provider had also hurt his knee. I wasn't sure where to turn to for help. LawnStarter was fast, fair, and caring. Other people finding themselves in a bind or who want consistent reliable help should seek LawnStarter for help.

Stay away rip off

They will send scammers to you. They screwed me around for a week and a half then the idiot showed up telling me my lawn was overgrown and it would be 6 times what was quoted.

Seriously the worst company. The lawn guy assigned to me charged me but never came to cut my grass last Friday. I left last Sunday in the beginning of the week for the keys for mini season, however kept checking my backyard camera to see if the guy came. The gate was not even locked but because it was closed Kirk decided not to even try to open it. Instead he stated the job was done and they charged me. Now that it is over 5 days and I returned from the keys… they won't refund me although Kirk admitted he didn't cut my grass in the chat. The worst service. On top of it all, after the first cut he left my gate wide open and I'm on a corner lot off a main road!

What a waste of time! I scheduled the first mowing with them. They didn't do it; instead they sent me another quote of $211. I called their number twice this morning and twice they put me on hold for an infinity of time. This forces everyone to abandon!

Bad cut yard.

LawnStarter is absolute trash do not use them. Three mows with them, Three different crews every one was a nightmare. The guy that came yesterday mowed half my yard and left. They sent a new crew today with a giant commercial stand on mower and broke my fence gate forcing it thru. It's nearly impossible to talk to these people except via the app. The refuse to let you talk to supervisor… terrible customer service. Save yourself the headache. Use a reputable local mowing service!

Update: After placing my review on sitejabber I was contacted by Meghan at LawnStarter corporate. She was extremely courteous, professional, and sympathetic. She refunded my money and apologized. While I'm still extremely dissatisfied with the overall experience Meghan resolved my issue. I have updated my overall review to 2 stars because of her (she personally deserves 5 stars). If everyone at LawnStarter had her professionalism they would be much better off.
