This is a terrible company. AVOID

I am a "pro" the highest rating offered for this service. This company is horrible. I have had three leaf jobs deducted from my account in the last month because the customer wanted free services like lawns mowed and bushes trimmed. In turn, I go and blow the leaves and complete the scheduled services. Lawnstarter deducted in the last three weeks over $700.00 from my account because the services were not complete by two customers. These were huge jobs that took 5 hours per property.

Lawn starter just told me on the phone that sometimes it is easier to complete the extra services just to get paid, so I asked if I should be working for free, and I was told YES. I articulated to lawn starter that I have employees that I also have to pay. The agent's answer was "we know"

I have a 4.9 rating. Top tier, 97 properties a week, and at best I am profiting $1300.00 a week after costs. And that is working 7 days a week.

I was within this company for two years, but it is getting really bad. I had to quit today. As of late I can no longer afford to take the losses. Customer service does not care, were just another spoke in the wheel. It's terrible when someone works so hard and no one at this company gives a damn.

Consistently bad

The first crew that lawnStarter sent to my address could not read the street signs or house numbers correctly. She ended up moving a neighbor's yard-- the neighbors did not appreciate this as their grass is always very short to begin with and they were alarmed to see this crew trespassing on their ring doorbell. I texted the crew chief and she was rude to me and never apologized for mowing the wrong yard and upsetting my neighbors. A new crew was arranged to go to my house. I saw everything on my security camera. The crew arrived and decided to ask my neighbor what they should mow. They didn't text or call me. On my neighbor's advice they only mowed half of my front yard. Literally they divided it down the middle and did just half. They did not quit early because of rain or other problems. They mowed half because that is what my neighbor told them to do. They should have called or texted me to ask me questions. I was available. Why ask a neighbor instead of the homeowner who has paid for the mowing contract? These people cannot be trusted to do anything correctly. They have no oversight.

Not appreciated

Very disappointed with LS because I am Deaf asked to make an appointment with my lawns therefore I many times told them to text me when they arrive. They did not let me know when they arrived. Plus what's more they arrived my house to mowed and they left with unfinished work on my lawns. They are discriminating Deaf community. Lack of communication and lacking respect! Shame on them.

I stopped cutting my grass so I decided to try lawn starter. I should have read some reviews before, big mistake. Lawn Starter charged me $45 for my yard plus a $2.99 safety fee. They also charge a long grass fee if it's longer than 6 inches. Long grass fee is another $45 dollars. I paid the long grass fee the first time. My grass hadn't been cut in 4 weeks so honestly it wasn't that long, but whatever. They came back exactly 2 weeks later after the first cut and guess what? Through my cameras while at work I see them with a tape measure measuring my grass and you guessed it, they charged me for another long grass fee! Literally after two weeks of cutting my grass! The most pathetic and most ridiculous "fee". They're robbing customers and their customer service sucks. Stay away I promise you'll thank me. Peace out everyone.

I booked mowing service with lawnstarter and the first mow went well. I had requested photos of work done but they did not send. The next time the provider no showed, no call and I got a message from the lawnstarter system saying the work was done. I complained about the service provider who gave me a follow up date. On the day they promised again they did not do the work. This happened one more time and I requested a change of provider. I got a new provider they did a good job on the front yard but did not do the back. My fault that I had not told the provider there are stairs to the back so they were not prepared for the stairs. Also they did not take pictures and trimming wasn't done. I had assumed because I had indicated there is a back yard and stairs in the lawnstarter system that the information is stored but it seems it has to be communicated directly to the provider. So not only did they not mow the back yard the trimming was not done either. I was charged for both and the work was incomplete. The customer service at lawnstarter has been pleasant and I felt bad that I called each time with a compliant about the provider. Lastly their lawnstarter system needs to mark the work done when it is actually completed, as a client I had to keep calling back to dispute the work done. I have since cancelled my service, I got 50% a refund for the back yard not done but none for trimming because I called after 10 days. I got a referral from a friend who is working out beautifully does mowing both front and back and trimming for a more reasonable costs plus he sends photos of his work. My recommendations to lawnstarter the vetting system for their vendors needs to be reviewed; integrity for starters. Vendors need to take photos of their work and share with the client, sometimes we travel and want to see the work completed. Make life easier for your clients. Thank you.

Everything was great until the day the service was supposed to happen and no one showed up and I'm still waiting on a response I spoke with what they called the support group and all I heard was I'm sorry I'm sorry but no one could confirm a time or that the person was even going to show up I told them to stop the service and I did not care to do business at all and I still have not heard from anyone

Scam artists

I had service with them for a few months, they did a good job. I tipped 25% on a monthly service, and had no problems. One day they told me I had to have my lawn cut every two weeks now, but I could skip a mow to make it monthly. Even though it was a pain I kept my service, until the last mow. There was a 3 foot by 3 foot area where the weeds had grown to about 8 inches, and even though the rest of the yard was normal the charged me 48.00 for a long grass fee. Don't believe the positive reviews you read they pay customers to write those.

I've used LawnStarter for over a year, and it's been the best experience. My lawn guy, Victor, is kind, diligent, and is flexible. My yard is always perfect, and Victor goes above and beyond. My customer service experience when I've needed help in the past has been smooth and efficient, and each representative I've worked with in the past has gone above and beyond to meet my needs. Regarding affordability to services, LawnStarter has the most competitive prices in town! Thanks for everything, LS. And especially Victor, he comes in and does his best even in 108-degree weather!

I have waited over two weeks for them to cut my lawn. They cancel on me the day of, no warning, and then assure me they will show up next time for multiple times. Guess what they don't. I have emailed and called their support and NOTHING CHANGES. USE ANOTHER SERVICE

Just ok

In the past I had some pretty good people but last season I had some terrible lawn people. Two cancelled and stopped cutting my lawn. One person half cut it and let it on even and another person just cut it very sloppy not cutting in a straight line, just chris crossing back and forth across the lawn. They don't bag the grass that is being cut which once it dries out turns brown and just looks bad.

The Worst Service
August 26, 2023

I placed an order to have service done on August 16th. On August 17th I received an email my scheduled cut would be done on August 21st. On August 21st I received an email that says they couldn't cut my lawn due to the police shutting down my road. Little do they know, I contacted my local police department and my road was not closed for and reason from midnight August 20th until 1159pm August 21st. I just looked and they will not be at my house for 2 more weeks. The time frame I requested. However, they are now going to charge a high grass fee when they come. I also just checked and LawnStarter would schedule a time for Monday or Tuesday this week. Why couldn't they cut my lawn on the 22nd, 23rd, 24th? Oh well, I'll cancel them and find someone on Craigslist. Thanks for nothing.

Lawnstarter charges for services 1-2 weeks before providing them, if they provide them at all!
Terrible service and worse support!
Reached out a week after paying since lawn wasn't mowed yet, they claim the payment was for services already rendered, but this was not true. Support help tech belittled and condescended to me, and provided no help at all. This company is terrible and I cannot recommend them.

Cheapskate customers.

This app is for cheapskate customers. Customers want something for nothing and do the most complaining. $19 for a huge sized yard is unacceptable. And wonder why there are tons of cancellations and no show! I'm not wasting my time cutting grass in 107 degree heat all day for $100-$150 a day. That is crackhead pay honestly. If you want to deal with cheapskates all day then by all means this app is for you. I have better quality customers by listing my business on Google maps
