We teach a large number of dog owners every year on the very best ways to train their dogs based on our own research on animal behavior.
We are especially passionate about training rescued dogs and giving them a second chance at finding a loving and caring family.

The training methods, emphasizing operant conditioning and practical strategies, resonate well with users, fostering a sense of joy in the training process. Although I would like to subscribe to your class my budget is beyond reach. I have thoroughly enjoyed the free training program and I felt you have a good thing coming with more outreach programs maybe a little less costly. Thks again for the free book if I am going to get it after this review.
Clear and understandable instructions for improving my dogs reaction to training
I found the video very good. I trained working sheep dogs for fifty years and would have loved to have this information, it would have helped a lot. Also, all dogs wore collars and were tied up when not working, if they weren't they would wander and some even killed the sheep in their spare time. But I have found with my little jack russell the new type of harness is so less stressful for her that I am amazed.
Dear Dr Alexa,
Thank you so much for your tips and free training. I live in South Africa and to get products and services from the US is very costly for us and with both us and our pets going through lock down we have both (pets and owners) forgotten some of the basics when it comes to walking and socialising our pets.
Using body language is something we do but not in a mindful way so that is a big help and how to change behaviour in a calm way is better for the pet and the (mom) owner.
Thank you so much
Susan
The video helped me realize how unknowingly I was giving our dog the wrong rewards for good behavior! It reminded me of horse training! Give your horse or dog the way to the right behavior and they learn to choose it! Thank you!
Mary Jane has been doing a lot better at not barking at people when they come through the door and a lot more. It's good to know that I'm able to see tips and ways I can do better to help my dog.
Very impressed on the way the video was presented and when I applied it to my dog he was very receptive all
Great in-site into helping Bailey become a calm and respectful service dog. Good reminder on does and don'ts for us.
A lot of filler, but the meat was worth it! I actually took notes and put the things I learned into practice immediately. The results have been remarkable! I wish I could afford the whole course!
I watched the video and the instructor was very informed about her job and she explained so much in such a short time that amazed me. I will be signing up to go further
I found the info very informative and have used some of the items I learned. I am really surprised that these things are working in training my dog to behave better. With not knowing my husband and I had already done parts of the training. It is nice to know that the non verbal training we had already done, due to my husbands illness, is part of the training in this free class. It is so unbelievable that my dog has already started to look at me for direction and barking at people and animals has almost stopped.
Loved this information! It would be amazing to have my new puppy be this well behaved!
I watch this video and found it very helpful. I have used it with a 5 yr old lab mix, and with repetition he is beginning to respond to body language. We are moving from a home he can come and go with the invisible fence to a smaller home he will be walked on a leash. We needed help with our dog because he would become anxious on a leash, pulling us and trying to go back to the car when we first started using the leash
I watched the training video and I got so much out of it. My daughter is a trained Vet Nurse and she runs a Puppy School for her clients. To be able to show her some far better techniques and to explain why that is and then to implement that on our own dogs with amazing results is incredible and totally unexpected. I am so glad I watched the video and so grateful that it was available. Thank you.
Very good advice clear easy to follow instructions
I enjoyed the free dog training workshop immensely. I got several very good points that will be very helpful to me when my new little girl comes home in 2 weeks. I really appreciate your sharing that info with me. My dog and I will definitely be the better for learning it.
I found this website and began participating in the canine training institute the information was very eye-opening very helpful and I will continue to use it recommend everybody else to use it as well.
I'm only giving 4 stars at the moment because we've only just begun with an 8 week old puppy. I will say I was at my wits end. I was sleep deprived, my clean house was no longer "feeling or smelling" clean, can't say I've got that caught up yet but at least I am finding more time to work on getting it back.
When I broke down and bought this program I was 3 nights sleep deprived, so exhausted, frustrated and felt completely hopeless. Our puppy just wasn't getting it…or I wasn't getting it.
I purchased some gates to gate him a play space in the kitchen, got him a harness, and partitioned off his crate to only allow him room to lay down in. Then every 20-30 minutes…yes really, I took him out often and excitedly praised him and gave him a little treat when he went outside. And within a couple of hours doing this I could see the lightbulb go on. It is also about learning their cues. Then if he starts pottying inside I immediately picked him up saying no firmly, but not yelling, and carried him outside to finish then praised him outside.
That was 3 days ago and we've nine had 3 fully dry nights in the kennel and one night with no potty breaks all night, though I wouldn't recommend that at this early stage because it could possibly lead to UTI. He has a baby bladder and the training is teaching him to hold it all night but I think for now every 3-4 hours is about as long as you want to go with that.
Our puppy isn't super vocal so he isn't letting us know vocally that he needs to go out so we are working on the bell system. We ring the bell every time it's potty time and I say "potty?". Now we have it hanging on the gate encouraging him to shake the bells when he needs to go.
The other thing I've learned is that he needs a job. I haven't figured that out completely yet but I'm looking forward to this next step. We just want him to be a well balanced dog that can be trusted with anyone, to listen to our commands and understand what they mean. I want to be able to walk with him without fear of confrontation with another dog. I need to learn these techniques and I feel this program has the tools for me to learn them.
Their video was most helpful in providing tips on how to deal with some common pet behaviour problems.
