Cashier could not locate a SKU for a floral " bush". Although she sent another employee to try and find a SKU ( unsuccessful); she did not contact a manager to create a way for me to buy the item. Instead, she said," the managers are busy", without attempting to contact anyone. This is the headquarters store in Hudson, Ohio. Seriously? A complete waste of my time. They lost my business.
Joann lists items that they don't have. They sold me yards of fabric, then 18 days later cancelled it because the items were out of stock. Yet online they still list the items. I called customer service and the items online really are out of stock- but are still listed! I emailed again and was basically told "too bad". Joann does not care at all about customers.
I have no idea why this store is still open in Naperville, IL. I have yet to have a positive experience at this particular store in the past 10-years (and that's a long time to have crappy service). I only go in there when I 'really' need something and can't find it elsewhere. The associates are never around to help customers, the cashiers and fabric cutters are rude and disrespectful to customers. During a recent visit, I asked an associate if she could help me reach a product on a high shelf and one of the women behind the cutting counter told the associate NOT to help me and then instructed me to go stand in a fabric cutting line of about 15 people in order to have someone get something off a high shelf for me. Absolutely ridiculous. Another customer offered to help me and the two of us were able to push the product off the shelf and down into my arms. On another occasion, I purchased a sewing machine that wasn't working properly.
I returned it less than 24-hours later for a refund and even though the store has a policy of giving a refund for returns, the manager refused to take it back and opted to disassemble the machine to try to repair it. This place should be CLOSED.
I'm unsure if this is a chain issue or the Madison store in particular but I have yet to experience a time that the service was good. Truly, it is nonexistent. It seems there are never enough employees to conduct business. The only reason I go here is because I had my son's first football photo custom framed and in order to have the frames match, I sadly and begrudgingly go back every year. Boy do I wish I chose a different store.
Online order for pick up in store. No indication one item was not in store and was going to be shipped until after order placed and money paid. Joann's refuses to let you immediately cancel items to be shipped, forcing you to pay the ship fee AND not reimburse you this cost when you return the item unopened. I spent $5.99 for horrible customer service experience and to drive out of my way to get only a partial refund. A full refund would give me back the forced shipping fee. I tried to cancel before that item ever processed for shipping. NEVER shopping here again.
Was going to purchase a Bowdabra at walmart for $9.99, but would be several days to ship to store. JoAnn's had 6 of them in-stock for $14.99, but I had a 40% on one item coupon! So decided to make the 50 minute drive. I also bought 6 packs of novelty buttons and some Dritz brass pins that I needed.
At checkout - 2 cashiers and a long line of customers... I asked the cashier about price matching, to which she said she had not heard anything about it. I showed her the BIG sign above her head that said PRICE MATCHING. She had to call someone, who stated that for price matching they needed a printed paper, and could not a competitor's website on my phone. Well o. K... I had 3 JoAnn app coupons that I could use - The 40% coupon was used on $3 buttons, not the Darice Bowdabra (most expensive item). Had a 50% of one Dritz sewing notions coupon that did not work for my Dritz brass sewing pins. Cashier said that coupons would not work on Darice or Dritz because the manufacturer doesn't allow it... Huh? The one coupon was specifically for Dritz brand sewing notions!
So I returned Bowdabra and called customer service. After 25 minutes on hold I explained to them what happened. I asked her why wasn't the 40% used on most expensive items, or why I couldn't pick which item. Was told that the computer just picks which items it wants to use. I guess I should have checked out each item separately. Next time I am in town I will be returning all items and NEVER shopping at JoAnn again.
I have them 2 stars because after 2 sales people not knowing what a Bowdabra was or where it might be, they did actually have 1 in stock.
Placed an order for one item online 11/1/18. Today is the 13th and it has yet to arrive. Track Order says delivery on 11/15 which is technically within 6-10 business days but I live in a metropolitan area and this is ridiculous. Reluctant to order through Amazon because of how employees are reportedly treated but may have to change my mind.
I placed a order for store pick up and they canceled my order and did not bother to email me to let me know. Then I ordered again and did shipping they canceled my order again with out sending me a email I will never order from this store again!
I found fabric in their last chance file, 4 items, that were 4.99. When I went to order them, the price jumped to 8.99 a yard. I contacted them, told the what I had found. Their reply was oh, that was a mistake, it shouldn't have been there. I replied that I felt they should have sold me at the lower price (it certainly wasn't my error). Their reply was they would send the feedback on. A couple days later, I again was in last chance items - and found 10 more items with the same issue! I wrote them again, listing the item numbers, and telling them how disappointed I was to find this. Their reply was a standard one, we apologize and will send the information on. Two days later, on my news feed, here was the same items, at the lower price in an ad! I again wrote, this time including a screenshot, in case they thought I was making it up. Again, a standard answer and they would send the information on. I told them my decision was to discontinue ordering from them online. I would either drive the hour to the closest store or I would shop at another online retailer. Just terrible customer service. How many people ordered without noticing the price jump? In the brick and mortar stores, they could be reported to the government - and they would definitely give me the lower price as it was their fault. Many stores have that written guarantee, but apparently online doesn't have a regulations like that, nor does Joann feel the need to guarantee their pricing is correct. I didn't purchase any of these items, thankfully.
I placed an order online and received partial shipment. I waited over a week for the rest of the shipment to arrive. It never arrived so I called customer service, they then informed me the place that was fulfilling my order cancelled the rest of my order. They never even notified me that they were cancelling the rest of my order. I was relying on those items to arrive. If they cancel an order they should at least have the decency to call the consumer or even an email would have been better than nothing. I will never place another online order with Joann's. This company is VERY inconsiderate to it's consumers who shop online.
I was ready to call my credit card company to cancel this order because it was not showing up. It was just one pattern and the website said it wasn't available at the store which it was.
Spent 20 minutes on the phone with a scratchy noisy background sound. Wanted to order two drawstring threaders. IWeb site said four available, this transpoaing words.web site keeps
I have been to several Joann's stores. I had an especially bad experience at the Knoxville store. I needed 1/3 yard cuts of fleece for a project. The girl started to cut, and I could tell she was cutting in a curve. I told her I wanted a 1/3 yard at the fold and selvage edge. A more experienced lady next to her told her how to cut it, and acted like I had ruined everyone's day. Well, as usual I didn't get a straight cut, and was short on the selvage edge. I bought extra to get the 10 inches I need. I hope I can get it straightened up, and get the 10 inches. If I pay for a 1/3 yard I want a 1/3 yard. They charge for 1 inch over, but don't allow for bad cutting. This happens very frequently.
The first of October marks the beginning of my preparations for my favorite seasonal holiday, Halloween. Despite my October obsessions, I have remained loyal to online shops; buying cheap, itchy costumes that have always ended up falling to pieces by the end of the night. It's not as if I lack the creativity to create my own costumes; I spend most of my free time drawing for hours on end. Generally, I do most of my shopping online, everything is just a click away. A store must have great atmosphere, be well organized, and above all have accommodating customer service to get me off the couch. I decided to give JoAnn Fabrics a fighting chance if I ever wanted to go down in the DIY hall of fame.
At first glance, the outside of JoAnn Fabrics resembled that of a Staples, bland and lacking in any artistic promise. One would think that a craft store would have added some eye-catching decorations for the festive season, or at least put up signs advertising the wonders found inside. Boy, was I wrong to judge a book by its cover.
Taking my first steps through the sliding doors was like stepping into Narnia. I was now standing in a new world, filled with rows stocked full with paints, fabrics, and craft supplies as far as the eye could see. The aisles were so well labeled and neatly arranged that it makes locating items a breeze, perfect for those who are in a time crunch. I was greeted with delightful scents of apples and cinnamon that were so tantalizing, I had to stop myself from taking a bite out of the air in front of me. I stood in awe. Finally, a store accurately reflected my true passion for Halloween and art.
I had been so distracted by all the dazzling arrays of festive décor that I almost forgot the reason why I had entered in the first place: to find the perfect materials to conceive my own Wonder Woman costume. Admittedly, I had no clue what I needed to even begin my super-sized project, and clearly, I looked like a JoAnn's rookie, because before I had even begun searching, an employee approached me asking if needed any assistance. After explaining my costume crisis, she offered her own personal advice on some of the best ways to create my costume. Instead of simply pointing to some random aisle, she had taken the time to put herself in my shoes and she ended up assisting me with things I hadn't even considered.
Overall, my experience at JoAnn Fabrics was nothing short of wonderful and had stemmed far beyond my expectations. Although I was disappointed by the outward appearance of the store, my hesitations immediately subsided the moment I walked in. The atmosphere was captivating and the effective organization of the merchandise made the aisles easy to navigate. Most notably, JoAnn Fabrics hands down has the most exceptional customer service I have ever had the fortune of encountering. With shopping bag in hand, I triumphantly made my way back into the world with a new sense of artistic authority, all thanks to my trusty sidekick JoAnn.
I placed an order 12 days ago, they canceled 2 items and now the order is just sitting as "processing". They haven't shipped anything and it's been 2 weeks. You can't CALL anyone, you can't cancel your order, you just have to wait until maybe they respond to one of your complaint emails. Unreal. Super frustrated.
I ordered through Joann's new app. After not getting an email response to the order I contacted customer service to find out the status of my order. Turns out they have no record of it. Some how they managed to charge my card for the order, but have no record of the order. This is my last time shopping with Joanns. There is something seriously off with this company.
Placed an order for pellon perfect loft filler (for Octos for a Preemie program) on Oct 4th, promised by Oct 6th, now Oct 7th. Spent an hour live chatting and calling customer service - it hasn't even left the warehouse! No reason why - just an "I'm sorry" and a $10 coupon code - woohoo! Nice job Joann Fabrics - won't be using you again! And yes, I cancelled more order and told them to stuff the $10. Extremely poor experience - use Amazon - they're actually reliable.
I have ordered fabric 4 times from JoAnn's and each time the wait gets longer. I have now been waiting for fabric ordered last Labor Day for over 1 month. So while I am still waiting for the last fabric I ordered from JoAnns I realized that I needed even more fabric so I found the same fabric online. I ordered it and received it in 3 days! Don't special order from JoAnns.
HORRIBLE experience. Went in on a Thursday afternoon because I had an hour to kill before my doctor's appointment. I ended up spending MOST of that time in line, both at the cutting counter and the check-out. Why are there not more employees at Both counters? At the cutting counter, I was 5th in line. There were 2 ladies cutting, so the line should have moved a little bit. But then one of the ladies (I think her name tag said Bobbi) decided that now would be a good time to put bolts of fabric away, instead of just pushing them aside and helping the 10+ people that were in line (and the line was growing). She proceeded to put away not 1, not 2, not 3, but 5 or 6 piles of fabric bolts, taking her time in doing so. Then she came back to the counter and one would assume she would start cutting for the huge line; nope, she decided to fiddle around on some electronic device, ignoring those in line. She didn't even acknowledge us to tell us she was helping the other cutter (she could have easier been texting on her personal phone; I was too far back in line to see). Then a male employee came over and he started cutting fabric for online orders. I'm sorry, but why is someone cutting fabric in front of all of us for Online Orders? That employee could EASILY cut somewhere Out of Sight and then the line wouldn't have gotten so restless at seeing Yet Another employee NOT HELPING US. After a good 5 minutes of this (I have now been in line over 15 minutes and I'm getting closer and closer to my doctor's appointment now; this was SUPPOSED to be a quick trip), I finally say, "Excuse me sir, can you help someone in line?" He said something about cutting online orders and then went back to it. Then, FINALLY, Bobbi started to cut, then the male employee (Sean, maybe?) started to cut too. When it was Finally my turn, the girl cutting for me (Loki) felt it was appropriate to butt in to my personal phone conversation, since I was telling my fiancee about the terrible expierence I was currently gonig through. She said something like, "Oh, he's not allowed to cut for customers, so he's breaking the rules right now". A.) I did not say anything about that to Her and B.) why is she telling me this? It's none of my business. I don't care what he is and is not allowed to do. If he's CUTTING FABRIC at the CUTTING COUNTER and there's a HUGE line then why Wouldn't we (the customers) feel like we are being neglected? He should NOT have been out on the floor if that was the case. Or he should be allowed to cut for in-store customers. Then I FINALLY got out of the cutting line, making it to the register with 15 minutes to spare. Or so I thought. Of course, they only have 2 cashiers and one of them is far too chatty with her customer. I say customer, because while she cashed out one person the other cashier (Shannon, maybe? Shorter girl with brown hair; very nice) was able to get 3 or 4 through her line. After 15 minutes in line (I'm not LATE to my appointment), a 3rd cashier finally wanders over and starts cashing out. The total time I spent at both counters (when I was actually at them completing a transaction) was maybe 3 minutes. 3 MINUTES! And I spent OVER AND HOUR in lines because of the complete lack of competence and planning on the part of the store and its manager. The staff are lazy and disrespectful for the most part, aside from the girl at the front, who is always very nice. I will be going to WalMart now instead of this place...
I went to Joannes to buy a stamp to finish my Christmas cards. When I got home I opened up the box set of stamps and found that the stamp that says Merry Christmas was the branch stamp. The branch stamp was a branch also. So I turned around and drove for 25 minutes back to the Joanns to exchange the box set of stamps. When I got to Joanns the young lady told me I needed to go get the stamps I needed and get in line. I was very confused because this counter was the customer service counter. I found the stamps and I got in line and I was number 25 with only two registers open. By the time I finally get up to be next in line a third register open. I walked up to the lady and I asked her what happened to the customer service counter. She informed me that every register that is open is the customer service. I told her that Joanns has completely lost all of their customer service for their customers. As I was waiting in line it amazed me how many customers were complaining about the customer service at Joanns having a line down the aisle and only two registers open. I will not be surprise when hobby lobby runs Joann fabrics out of town.
