I wasn't going to leave a negative review until I received a request to review based on the purchase I never ended up with. It seems my experience is not unique, but I will write it anyway.
I ordered one item which showed it was in stock at the store I selected for curbside pick-up. After 9 days, I still had no email to say it was ready and because I needed it sooner, I purchased it elsewhere and cancelled my order. Immediately (within seconds), I magically received the email to say the order was ready for pick-up.
I received three subsequent emails reminding me to pick up the order I'd already cancelled, then one to say it had been returned to stock.
After all of that, I received another email to say my order had been cancelled as the item was no longer available and my card had not been charged (which it had been).
There is nothing I need at JoAnn Fabrics badly enough to go through this headache again.
Ordered items online on the JOANN, pay close attention to which store would have the items 'in store'. Received a reply on the next day, that some items that were in store were not available anymore, but that the rest of my order was ready for pick-up. When I checked the store that had the items (28 miles from my house, as opposed to my usual store that is only 3 miles from my house), the store would be open on Saturday. After I drive to the store I notice signs on the door stating that 'curb side pick up not available'. I double check the app to see that the stores hours have changed to only being open a couple of days per week, with very limited hours.
Additionally, if I do not pick up my order in three days, it will be automatically cancelled, I am a nurse, and am not off until late next week, so I guess my order will now be cancelled because I will not be able to pick it up tomorrow or the day after; a. Because the store is not open and b, when the store is open, I am scheduled to work. Poor, very poor customer service and follow through.
I ordered some fabric online from one of their locations where they are offering curbside pick up. I have been waiting for over a week for the email alerting me that it is ready for pick up. Nothing. I have written to Joann's twice and still nothing.
I understand that things are delayed, but they have not given me an estimate of time or any information. Just to wait.
The store is not taking calls.
I placed an order in april. Every time I check my email something from my order was canceled. One item said it was delivered but as the tracking information it was delivered in texas and I'm in pa. I emailed the company 3 times and it is now almost 2 weeks since my first email and no answer yet. Not even looking into it. Nothing at all. I paid for items that I have never received and cant get ahold of anyone because you cant call the number. Very frustrated and only half of what I originally ordered I actually got from all the cancellations and miss delivery of items.
During this virus time, I decided to order some fabric to pick up, first order. I ordered 7 days ahead of when I was to be in town so could pick it up (45 min drive). I got there and no fabric anywhere, I asked the gal who cuts it, I called ahead to see the process and when I got to the register I asked them also, nope no order for me, mine was given to someone else who ordered the same thing and none in stock. This is on a Thursday. SAT I get an email to pick it up so I was thinking - REALLY? I ask my husband to stop on TUE because email says I have 3 days to pick it up. Tue I call and speak with the mgr. He won't even take my order# to go see if it is really there. He asks when I ordered and tells me too late 10 days and it is cancelled. Why? When I get an email that says it is ready? I have 3 days to pick it up so I don't get it! He tells me you have 10 days from date of order and it's over 10 days so it gets cancelled. I look at my email and one says pick up Tue May 5th and next says it is cancelled on May 6th - so if I was coming on May 5th why wasn't it there? Also, mgr tells me he has to go so he can answer another call ma'am! What? I'm not a customer with questions? So... NO so sorry, we could cut it and get it ready for your husband to pick up or I could call the Elk River Store and see if they have it, this would be closer for you to come to pick it up. NOTHING. So guess ordering does not make any sense then, if the mgr of the store tells me I can come to the store and pick it out myself! Where is the customer service. I did give them grace the first time because I understand they are probably understaffed and busy at this time, not a very good system with orders being given to all stores but the 2nd time trying to pick it up and getting put off is where I think it was time for customer service. Really not very happy. I have spent LOTS of money at this store.
I placed an online order a month ago for 3 lengths of fabric and some interfacing by the bolts. One of the pieces of fabric was cancelled within the week. The other 2 took 3 weeks to get (NOT exotic-- FLANNELS!). Still don't have the interfacing. I've messaged thru their site, emailed and tried to call only to hear the recording that they are not answering the phone. All I want is the rest of the order cancelled and a refund of my gift card balances that they are holding hostage. DO NOT BOTHER ORDERING RIGHT NOW if you actually want/need your items.
I will be writing several reviews since I've had many experiences online and in person. I'd like to start off with the worst experiences first. I've purchased things from the Cockeysville and Parkville Maryland stores. Cockeysville's customers service was BEYOND POOR! They way their curbside delivery was set up was POOR! The woman they had bringing packages out was RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, and UNPROFESSIONAL! I WILL NEVER BUY PRODUCTS FROM THERE AGAIN! Second runner up is Parkville. I ordered oil for my sewing machine. Money was taken from my account but my order to tell me to pick it up was NEVER sent to me. After 3 days, I called the store. An associate asked me for my order number and said she would print the paper out and have someone to pull it. After waiting an additional 2 days I called to cancel the order but she says, "No, you can pick it up today or tomorrow. Whatever works best for you." So I went to pick it up a few minutes later. While picking it up I asked the guy who brought the bags out did they have sewing machine and he answered yes. So I decided to go in to see them. He had already had models at the cash register to choose from. Models I hadn't seen while doing research online (as I am a new sewer). There were 3 Singers (all different models), and 2 Brothers St371HD. I explained want I was doing, what I needed, and my future plans. Initially, I was unaware that the bag guy was the manager of the store until he said he was going to call his associate to help me with my decision as the store was already closed. My best friend was there with me and telling me REPEATEDLY to not choose the Brother and one of the Singers because the ratings were very low online. But NOOOO I went against what he told me and trusted the advice of the well trained LYING ASSOCIATE! Then THEY ALL had the audacity, to read me and guess what I could or couldn't afford! Once I started talking about the thousands of dollars I've sent online at their store and others, the manager then says, "I have a machine in the back for what you're looking for for $1200. By then I'm annoyed so NO. Every instinct screamed to leave and just buy my new machine online... but I didn't listen! My smaller Brother machine's speed is 850, and the one just purchased is 800! No speeds being posted on the box like others should've been a red flag! But the associate RAVED about this machine and how she has one and LOVES IT! LIES! And because of this virus, I'm in able to return it right, so I have TONS of orders that will still be delayed with slow producing machines! The online warehouse is next inline for my fury! They will send piece by piece out for delivery and take from your account while doing so. I expect for the money to go out when I place my order... If the product isn't there and has to be canceled THEN RETURN THE FUNDS! I think that easier to let the customers know what's taking place with their orders since NO ONE is EVER available to answer the phones on the customer hotline or by email! My ONE GREAT INITIAL experience was with the store in Frederick on St. Patrick Street! It was % but they were damn close! I really enjoyed getting my curbside purchased from them! IF and that's a big if atp, I decide to shop at Joann Fabrics in the future, it will ONLY be from the Frederick MD location! But for now I'm extremely discussed with my overall experience with this company. And I'm a postal worker just in case someone from the HORRIBLE stores read this! I'm good in my finances... smh Not sure of why my photos uploaded wrong but every gets the picture.
Put in an order for curbside pickup a week ago. Was told two days and then four day waiting time. Called today to check and they couldn't even tell me a time frame... One more week, two? I cancelled my order and placed an order for the same items at Michael's. Cheaper and within two hours the order was filled and waiting for pickup. Won't make that mistake again. I understand that these are rough and unusual times and don't blame the employees at all. But if a company want to offer a service and still earn money, they need to be able to fulfill basic expectations or communication needs.
Joanns online order with shipping took three weeks to ship. During that time I received two emails cancelling part of my order. Unfortunately for me one of the fabrics coordinated with another fabric which is supposed to be shipping. I don't have it yet.
Tried an online curbside order. Placed the order and received a response stating I'd be able to pick up in two days. On the second day I received an email stating that the order was delayed due to the pandemic. The next day unfortunately they had to cancel part of the order because the buttons were now out of stock. The rest of the buttons are finally ready for pick up today, five days later.
And I thought shopping in the store was bad. Too bad there aren't any other store options.
Cost of shipping paired with the slowness of delivery add up to an extremely disappointing experience. I am a fan of Joann retail stores but would not recommend Joann online services to anyone
People who are making masks for the COVID 19 pandemic are trying very hard to find the needed materials. Joann's has the materials available on its website, but try to order them... impossible! You order, get the message item has been sent, and then the dreaded order has been canceled. People are losing their lives while this horrible company is trying to figure out online ordering. They should turn their essential materials over to another company that knows what they are doing.
Stay clear of this website. They have canceled 4 out of 6 items on my order. As I was shopping 2 of the fabrics became unavailable so I left the site. They must have seen I left the site as I received an email saying to finish my order, and lo and behold, those fabrics became miracoulsy available. So I went back to their website and saw that indeed those fabrics are AVAILABLE back again. I thought it might have been that they restocked again, no surprise there yet. With excitement I added a few more items and pressed "order", with flat standard shipping cost being $7.99.(!) A few minutes after making an order I received an email saying that 4 out of 6 items in my order have been canceled. So I was left with 2 small items for which I have to pay $7.99 shipping costs!
To make things worse, though they cancel your items from your order, you CANNOT CANCEL YOUR ORDER at all, they say it is impossible to cancel but you may return any unwanted items. And guess what - return is $7.99 as well, to be paid out of your pocket!
These kind of bait and switch practices are criminal and should be prosecuted.
Hudson Ohio has this $#*!y $#*! manager when I started she talks $#*! about everyone mean as $#*! fake as $#*! employees constantly went to the hire up manager about her or whatever all the manager could say was sorry and feed us bull$#*! but she's a bully and I'm pretty sure bullying is not In the companies policy so this $#*! gets in trouble manager asked to speak to her or whatever then then $#*! decided to take a leave and the hire up manager was talking all this $#*! about her saying when she comes back there has to be a change in her she gets another chance you know why she gets a second chance because she's a white woman you should never get a second chance if your being a bully that $#*! needs to be fired no second chances
I ordered 12 yards of fabric and some sewing needles. All the fabric was cancelled but they will not let me cancel the rest of my order just so they can charge me full shipping on sewing needles I can go to the store and get. The customer service is useless and a waste of time. DO NOT order online from Joann's unless you're are picking up at the store. This is the WORST company for online orders ever. Don't do it.
I ordered on April 20th. My items are being cancelled one at a time every 3 or 4 days. I only have one item left in stock, but I don't need if I can't have everything else too! They're not responding to emails so I'm left in limbo. I need to the items, but I'm afraid that if I order it from somewhere else, they'll finally ship it out!
Pickup orders advertised and email after email begging for online purchases but they never process the order. I completely understand the situation we are in. But if you cant deliver on what your advertise and promote simply stop saying that you will do it. No response to order for two days. Then is was delayed. Now it says "home delivery" is delayed. It was not a home delivery order. Joanns Fabric is a joke. I am finished with this franchise.
Joanne's is now pet friendly. I sneezed my way through bv the store due to the dogs in the store and the hair on the fabric!
I ordered a sewing machine, 4 yards of fabric, two bobbins of thread, over $400 worth of product. They took my order, took my money, cancelled the fabric, and gave me no options to cancel the rest of the order. I accepted that and inquired about getting the money for the canceled items returned. No response was ever received, yet they accessed my bank account adjusted the balance for just the sewing machine and shipped it to me. Then they went in my account a second time, took over 20.00 for the thread + shipping. Again no communication. The thread was due for delivery last week and it never arrived. Guess what, no communication! I have emailed for status several times; nothing, no response. I will never purchase from this company again. They aren't even attempting to even respond that they are trying to track the product down. Really poor customer service and yet, they have my money and I have no product.
I've ordered wood crates online for curbside pickup. Both times website said there were plenty in stock (11 or 19) depending on order date. Both. CANCELLED! My disappointment is real and will likely going to Michael's moving forward!
Stood in line for over an hour. Finally got to the front of the line only to be told I couldn't enter the store without a mask. The reason I was in line was to purchase fabric to make masks. Then the store employee proceeded to show me the sign posted on the window of the store. Other signs by JoAnns were posted to where they are able to be read while in line. However the sign about the mask is only on the window of the store and only viewable once you get to the front of the line. This is a sign that should be posted throughout the line like the other to save customers the time.
