Shipping took two weeks to get the item
March 13, 2021

And after 4 days "processing not yet mailed" they refused to cancel the order. I will never shop here again, the prices are stupid high and they have subrate products. Fabric dot com is much better and can ship my stuff like i am not in china. Two weeks for an order to arrive is unacceptable. So no more of this store EVER.

Go to the physical store
March 8, 2021

The one I go to has very knowledgeable people and, for the most part, everyone seems happy to help. I've never had issues with curbside pickup. I will say pictures of the fabric online can be misleading with the color and size, and their inventory system is wonky, but I'm surprised to see so much hate here. I will always support Joanns, they are introducing pronoun stickers for their employees and they have great deals on remnants. They are pretty progressive, especially compared to Hobby Lobby. They also have tattoo based fabrics and a fabric that depicts heavier set women in a positive, attractive light.

Rude
February 27, 2021

Just took my daughter to Joanne Fabrics in Tyngsboro, MA to buy fleece for a service project. The store was empty, but the woman directed us toward the fleece with a flick of her chin. They seemed annoyed that we needed it cut a certain size and said they could not guarantee that. They suggested we buy fragments of fleece in the marked down bin, but were sarcastic explaining to us where that was. The cashier suggested instead of Facebook tonight I download their app instead. When we left, I commented to my 14 year old daughter how rude and unhelpful everyone was. She said, "Mom, I texted my student council group and told them I was buying the fleece and that the sales people seemed mad at me." It seemed like no one enjoyed their job or helping customers at this store.

Made an order with an authorized credit card, same billing and shipping address, phone number to verify and follow up with emails to request confirmation of a cancelled order and still unable to complete order. Waste of time, I will find the items elsewhere.

Don't state you have it and then tell me you don't!
February 16, 2021

Ordered online, site showed multiple stock of my items, get an email next day that two items are no longer available. Did someone come in overnite and buy them up? First and last time ordering from Joann Fabrics. Very disappointing.

Beware of the signage, bring an attorney!
February 14, 2021

Twice in three days, I've been tricked by the signage. "Buy 1, get 2 free," is absolutely false. Twice I bought three items that appeared to qualify and was charged full price for all three. Twice I returned to the store to be told that the items purchased "don't qualify." (!)
I can read, I'm educated, I've shopped successfully for 50 years. Even though the brand is the same, the items are shelved together, and they are the same item (fabric flowers) they "don't qualify."
I've never before felt that I had to be in guard to shop at Joann's. I won't go back. There's too much competition that respects the customer.
It has the feel of desperation. Bye-bye, Joann.

Bait & Switch
February 11, 2021

I was issued two refunds for corporate refund checks on January 10,2021 to be sent to me. I had been in communication with the Store manager and Asst. Store manager who actually assisted me with three previous returns (signing them) on my recently deceased mothers un-used new material as l etc. Each received a corporate check for dates of January 3,2021 & December 20,2020 & and a cash refund of $ 120.00 on December 18,2020. All without receipts but luckily still in the original packaging, mfg boxes, and Joann bags. My January 10th refunds never arrived so I reached out to returns customer service for status. I was than told to pick up the fabric or take a store credit? A day later I received a email from customer service asking for detailed information on my return, email, original dates of purchase, which I quickly replied with and asked why they are asking for all this additional information... No one could tell me why? The store manager said the store policy was changed, inwhich I was bring penalized for their policy change after my transactions were done? Basically I was being called a thief and they were trying to imply that 3 bolts of unbleached muslin were stolen? Funny how when I returned it the sales associate was able to scan the bolts and the bolts were identified in the Joanne SKU files in their computer system? Absurd! I was given the choice to pick up the bolts of muslin or a useless store credit. I than took the store credit as they threatened that if I did not come in soon I would be forced to forfeit my merchandise/store credit! What a way to treat someone who's late mother taught all the quilting, cake decorating, needlework adult education classes in Bellevue, Ne. My late mother bought all her needs at this Joann store in Bellevue, ne. She also encouraged all her students to buy all their needs for class and leisure at this store. Pathetic way of biting the hand that keeps your sad little store open in Bellevue, Ne! Talk about Bait & Switch on an honest customer! No wonder this store is so empty. I have/will notify all local contacts of this horrible experience with trying to defame my character without any grounds, basis, or reasonable explanation. Even the supervisor at the returns customer service did not have the courage to call me and explain why the 30 day runaround? Cowards and shady business practice!

Poorly Run Buisness.
February 5, 2021

My wife had a horrible time with this company. She ordered a sewing machine. And then never heard back from them for many days. She never could find anyone to take to. I got involved and found out that the sewing machine was not in stock... they held on to her money for more than a week before the finally gave in and reimbursed her the money she paid. Shabby business. I would not recommend this company for any reason. Buyer beware. I wish there was a way to give a negative star review.

Poor Management terrible workers
January 27, 2021

Your store in Fremont Ohio needs an upgrade in manners and how to treat customers and each other. Was back where the pins and needles are and two employees were back there talking about another employee and did not care I was there listening. Where is management during this why aren't those two helping customers instead of talking bad about one another. They are also very rude to their older customers senior citizens. Shame on you.

Deceptive marketing
January 22, 2021

I called customer service to inquire why my flier's online promo code said it wasn't valid even though the date and Online requirement was correct. They gave me a completely different and apparantely secret code which went through, but did not take anything off my total. I was then told to complete the purchase at regular price, then call them back for a refund for the difference. Why are they posting invalid codes and expecting we would trust them to issue a refund after we pay full price? Something is very fishy with this company. Their online service is no better than in store and that is worse than anywhere I have ever shopped. Constant waiting with a skeleton crew to handle customers. The employees seem to be trying. This is a corporate problem. C'mon Joann... get it together!

Anita was outstanding in helping me with my order!
January 20, 2021

Anita, who works at the Prescott, Az. Outlet is a 10 star employee! I have never had such a caring and considerate experience with an employee. She works at the fabric cutting counter and I found a perfect fabric for my curtain project. The problem was that there was not enough fabric for me to complete my curtains. She cared sooo much and preceded to call over 10 Joann stores to try and get me more of this fabric. I waited while she did this and during this time she helped at least 10 other customers, cut their fabric and cared for every one of them and their needs and nobody waited at all while she assisted me in finding the store that had the fabric which I needed. Her multitasking skills are incredible! I owned a floral shop for 30 years and my husband was the president of 3 hospitals before we retired, recognizing such a special employee we wanted to let you know! Anita is a true gem! Oh and she found enough of the fabric that I needed at another store for me and notified me that it came in today. I so appreciate her and wanted to let you know! Do not have orders shipped.
January 15, 2021

I tried to order yarn online, but the system would not accept my address. I called the help number and a nice person assisted me with placing an order. He verified that everything was in-stock and updated my account information, including deleting an old address and updating to my current address.
Then after a few days I received an order that only a part of the order was instock. Then I received an email saying they'd be delivering it in two parts. Then I received an email saying part 1 of my order was delivered to an old address in another town.
Then I called the help line and they told me my issue was accelerated to shipping who would email me in 3-5 days. After ending the call and checking online, I realized that the second half of my order was in KS, while I'm in OR, so I called back so they could contact Fedex and correct the address immediately. They told me that they could not do that, that an investigation has been started into my order and could not explain why they would not contact the shipper proactively re part 2. Until I asked where they are located and she said Panama which is why she cannot contact Fedex.
I previously ordered online for store pick-up, and received an alert my order was ready but, it was not ready until I came to the store and the clerk went back to cut the fabric.
Bad service through the online system.

I've given up
January 9, 2021

As an interior designer I'm in search for fabrics every week. I've been going to Joann's for many, many years. It use to be such a joy to go in and see the selection of wonderful fabrics, with the many textures and colors. Truly great EYE candy! Over the years I've seen many changes in the stores and according to the employee's the management. NONE of it for the better! The fabrics mimic the feeling of the over all stores DISMAL! The employees seem so unhappy, uncaring and really quite rude at times. The stores look, empty and uncared for. The home fabric selection has gone from amazing to barley existing, and now doesn't even carry samples for selections. BUT... best of all is now for them to give you a 2x2 sample of the fabrics that they have in store you have to pay for it! I think that will be the last straw for me giving them business. Joann's I think someone needs to step up and figure what's wrong with the way your being operated before your one of the unfortunate business that have shuttered there doors! WAKEUP

Poor Online Experience
January 8, 2021

Ordered an item online on 12-31-20. Was informed 5 days later that my order was cancelled due to unavailability of item. Item's price was now $70 more. I called CS and they said the item was out and would honor original price and order when available. Item appeared as available a few days later. Called customer service again and they stated that item was available in a couple of colors. When they learned that the item was needed to fulfill cancelled order at original price, I was placed on a long hold. The item was instantly unavailable again. Sounds dishonest.

Terrible customer service
January 6, 2021

Ranks top 3 of my worst customer service experiences, along with Target and Lane Bryant.

Ordered fabric on 12/28. Realized there would likely be a delay due to the holidays. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I got a shipping notice the SAME DAY. The day after, I got another notification that there was a second shipment. That's fine. Until the warehouse never actually shipped it, just made the label. A small delay was fine, but I sent an email letting them know it was sitting around in a warehouse and I expected the item to go out promptly. No response.

Even if you also count NYE as a holiday (most retailers don't) today would be the 4TH BUSINESS DAY that my order has just SIT IN A WAREHOUSE FOR NO REASON.

I finally got an email reply; basically stating "it's not our fault, fedex hasn't updated yadda yadda, if you don't get it by 1/11 contact us then". See attached. As you can imagine, that made me irate. So I called.

I let the service agent know what was going on, the email I had gotten, and that under no circumstances was that acceptable. She went on hold to look at the issue, then came back on the line to tell me she passed it off to someone to "investigate" and that I should get a response in 3 days.

Well, that made me even angrier. I let her know that I wasn't here to put up with her passing the buck, or them making me wait another 3 days to actually ship an order they'd made a label for. She kept trying to talk over me, and when I wouldn't let her, decided she wasn't going to say anything at all. Fed up with her attitude problem, I asked for a supervisor.

The "supervisor" I got was a lying piece of work. She tried to tell me FedEx was having up to 2 week delays in their pickups. When I told her I worked direct customer service for a retail company, our company uses exclusively FedEx for standard shipments, and that there is no delay at all right now, she was a stuttering mess. Had no explanation other than "it can take so and so business days" with no explanation for the fact the order was processed already. When I told her about the inept customer service agents I'd talked to, she said they would "look into it" again (referring to the order) with no indication of a timely follow up.

I let her know if I had done such a terrible CS job, I'd be written up and fired - and it must be nice to work somewhere, when you don't have to do your job to get paid. I guess I'd have to just call in and scream some more when nobody could be bothered to tell the warehouse to ship my order. After some more stuttering, along with another half baked lie of an excuse and her trying desperately to start ending the call, I hung up on her.

Later tonight, I get a message from FedEx that the package is on the way.

Would it not be easier to have your customer service agents actually do their jobs, so that people don't have to be nasty and yell to get their issue resolved? I work customer service. I know the job sucks, but if you do your job, decent people don't have to act like an $#*! to get anywhere. Unfortunately for them, me being a CS agent means I don't have any tolerance for terrible CS agents who can't be bothered to do their jobs, causing me inconvenience.

I made a purchase for $241 not only did they not have my complete order but they charge me another $182 for a partial order but kept the $241 hold on my account which basically made a total hold/withdraw of $423 out of my account. Which lead to bounced checks and over draft fees just the biggest headache ever. I had to jump through hoops to get stuff straightened out at my bank all because of Joann fabrics.

Buy online for pickup ALWAYS gets canceled
December 25, 2020

It's shameful that they only allow certain coupons for "buy online and pick up in store" because you will literally never get what you want when you order this way. Apparently their staff can't be bothered to fulfill online orders. One time, it had been almost two days, so I thought I would call and inquire when it might be ready... and no kidding the associate said all of their product is "in the back and it's really hard to get back there to find it." Seriously? I have ordered FOUR separate times, and every single time the order got canceled. I learned my lesson, but God forbid you aren't able to go into the store to pick it out yourself and you have to do curbside, you are better off sending someone on your behalf or have it shipped to you directly if you have time for all of that. The worst of my experience with buy online and pick up in store, was one time I ordered it online, only for it to get canceled instead of fulfilled bc it was "no longer available"... so I went to the store to find something comparable and found my "unavailable" product with plenty in stock. When this is how they choose to do business, they should really offer those great buy online for pickup coupons in-store as a courtesy to their customers who get the shaft when they buy online for pickup because their staff is too busy/lazy/understaffed (or whatever their problem is) to fill an order.

Beware
December 24, 2020

Beware, when you order online with a debit card, they will charge you twice. One is for the authorization and the other is the actual charge. So if you order $75.00 worth, $150.00 is out of your account for 5 days. They don't credit the authorization until your items have been delivered. I haven't noticed any other company doing this. I'm going to use a gift card from now on.
