In the 1990s, I bought most of my clothing at J. Jill. It was artistic and of high quality, an it fit me well. I still have a skirt and a cashmere sweater from that era, and they both look almost never worn. Desperate find decent petite clothing, I went back recently. Like so much other clothing these days, it's crap. I have never had a piece of clothing go bad after one washing. The shirt from the Wherever collection did just that. The inside material is white, while the outside is a pattern on black. The white from the underside bled through onto the front, so that the front is covered in something like lint, and the shirt looks like it's been washed 50 times. I do have one other shell from J. Jill and that seems fine, but you have to be very careful there. The original price of the shirt was $59 and then they marked it down, which so many retailers these days do. The prices as marked are always fake. The shirt is probably only worth $12 if that. Too bad.
JJill tall women's clothes are better quality fabric and manufacture than most. The fit is pretty good except they sometimes do not add extra torso length, so you end up with an "empire" waist dress you weren't expecting. Their styles are all very casual like you plan to walk on a beach all day, with breaks for yoga and pottery class.
I used to be able to get a decent shirt or substantial pima t-shirt from J Jill, but they have redesigned everything to be "flowy" flimsy and shapeless. Every single top is a long baggy tunic, even the basic t shirts. There is nothing I want at this store anymore. They are designing for 70 year olds. Very frumpy.
The clothing "style" at JJill has been gradually changing; it is now frumpy, boxy, grandma and lacks stylish appeal. And to add to the lack of stylish appeal their shipping costs is outrageous and takes forever to receive; and then they also charge the customer again to return. Forget you JJill. There are a million other places to shop.
We are sorry to hear our recent styles have not caught your eye. We appreciate your feedback regarding our shipping process and fees, they have been forwarded to our management team for review. Hearing from our customers allows us to know what we are doing right and what we need to work on to better service you. Thanks again!
J Jill has been going down hill overall.
Their clothing quality is has been consistently on a decline.
Their buyers keep missing the mark.
Their stores don't stock what they used to stock: size and variety-wise
Shipping: $17 to ship 4 items that arrive in 7 - 10 days? What?
Their "New Talent" in stores don't know me, they've taken away many of the sales staff that knew me, and that were close to my age, replacing with younger people that don't even want to wear J Jill clothing. (why put Millenials in a store key holder position when they don't know anything about what my needs, wants, desires are!)
Their new website is horrible; slow to respond, no multiple promo codes allowed on checkout (and YES, they previously allowed for it--whether intentional or not... it's a take away now). I would love to speak with whomever authorized this horrible experience to launch.
Bye bye J. Jill-it was a nice experience before making all of these changes. Maybe you should have asked some of your customers about their needs.
Thanks for getting back to us via private message. We will be in touch soon!
Why did I used to get beautiful velvet and embroidered linen from J. Jill and now it's all dowdy stretch fabrics for people who work in conservative offices?
Hi Kyri, we are sorry to hear you haven't liked our recent collections. We appreciate your feedback and assure you it has been forwarded. Hopefully something in our upcoming collection will catch your eye! -Bridgett
I tried to order a pair of shoes online and struggled with their system. Today, I called and spoke to a extremely rude customer service individual to ask why my order was an issue only to find out that they don't give discounts on name brand shoes. I've ordered many, many things over the years from J. Jill and have recently notice that the items I receive are no longer of good quality. J. Jill doesn't reward long time loyal customers with discounts. I will no longer do business with them. Their styles are the same and lack originality. Poor customer service! I'll take my business elsewhere thank you.
Hello- We have sent you a private message regarding this.
BEWARE! JJILL ALLOWED SOMEONE THEY KNEW TO USE A STOLEN CREDIT CARD. THEY CLAIM SHE IS A GOOD CUSTOMER AND 81YEARS OLD AND WOULDNT DO THAT. THEY REFUSE TO EVEN REPORT THIS TO THE POLICE. PERHAPS AND INSIDE JOB OR A FAMILY MEMBER THEY ARE PROTECTING. STAY AWAY!
JJill decided to eliminate product reviews comments. They were very important to the shopping experience. I no longer purchase because of this.
Very disappointed to see that all customer reviews of JJill clothing have disappeared from their site, overnight, it seems. Those used to be deal makers or deal breakers for me when deciding on an item, especially when it came to sizing. This decision by JJill to remove them makes one suspicious of their real motives.
As their customer of 20 years I continue to consider them quite unique, but I have to agree with other customers who complain about their brand slowly eroding. I also used to be very fond of their jackets - anything from linen to silk, to tweed - but now they hardly ever offer any of those.
I have been a huge fan of J Jill for years but it seems J Jill is beginning to struggle to keep up with competitors. Recently the customer reviews of clothing has disappeared from its website (odd). In addition, it appears the quality of the clothes has deteriorated and the sizing of the clothes seems to have changed. More of the clothes seem boxy and oversized. In addition, J Jill is one of the last retailers to not adjust their shipping and return policies. Many competitors offer free shipping... but not J Jill.
Not happy with rude and incompetent sales staff and manager will never shop at that store again. Love their clothes so will only shop on line. If you want a credit card from them they want name address email phone dob and ssi number I refuse to give out all that information to a retail store or anyone else for that matter.
Why did your company remove customer reviews from each piece of clothing? I enjoyed reading them especially from people my age and body type.
After encountering the problems noted above with Comenity Bank, the bank handling the J. Jill credit card, I contacted J. Jill customer service to make them aware of the issue. They graciously volunteered to intervene with the bank and helped me to resolve the situation by having the late charges dismissed. As a result, although I will never again do business with Comenity Bank, I will continue to patronize J. Jill.
This store's credit card is handled by Comenity Bank which is a bank guilty of fraudulent and unethical business practices. Stay far away unless you want to have delayed posting of your payments to generate additional late fees and interest for the bank.
Why do they have a problem with understanding the instruction UNSUBSCRIBE?
Since purchasing one dress, which was nothing like as advertised and for which I paid hefty sum in tax because I do not live in the USA - J.Jill.com have pestered me on a daily basis with at least one email (a day) and they refuse to remove my email address from their database.
I have asked them many times to take my name and address off their database and they just ignore me and they also ignore the simply link on the email to unsubscribe.
Because I am with gmail - there is not the facility to actually block these cowboys - for that is what they are - or should I say - cowgirls.
Do not waste your money on purchasing any item of clothing from J.Jill.com
Go to a shop - go anywhere - preferably avoid all online sales pitch.
I have been a customer for over 20 years up until today. I've finally decided they are not up to date in quality nor style selection in merchandise. Shipping is slow (compared to competitors) and Customer Service is very poor, they will not accommodate you in any way.
You pay a lot of money for cheap clothing and the cost and wait for shipping is crazy. I am no longer a customer. For petite' and online shopping I recommend Macy's, Nordstrom, and Ann Taylor, they're great all around. NOT J. JILL
Somedays ago, I bought a sofa set from 1stopbedrooms and it is totally good one and i feel good by using this. This is nice design and good quality. I think this is best e-commerce shop. I purchased some furniture from 1stopbedrooms and I was satisfied. Customer service was good and they deliver very quickly without any problems. Stuff are so helpful. The furniture designs and colors are awesome.
I am a frequent online shopper and like most, don't care to pay for shipping. While some retailers do charge if under a certain amt. The best ones simply offer free shipping, period.
Well, then there's J. Jill... which has an interesting and punitive concept...
I've discovered that the more you spend at J. Jill the more you are charged for shipping.
I called them to express my opinion but was told nothing could be done except bring my concerns to the marketing department.
So, I promptly emptied my cart of over $250 worth of merchandise and asked to be removed from their mailing list.
I'll stick w/Bloomingdales, RL, LLBean, and Nordstroms from now on. Each one of these merchants really understands customer service.
JJill just isn't worth it.
J. Jill's steady decline continues. Every piece of overpriced clothing I've purchased from them after 2000 has fallen apart rapidly. Anything knit is full of holes within 5 washes. Their prices are obscene, their shipping and handling fees are among the highest you'll ever find, and their return policy is pretty much nonexistent: You can return something that you don't like, but only if it's "unworn, unwashed, and still has the tags attached." Because that's how you find out if you like a piece of clothing--don't wear it, don't wash it, and never take the tags off. They will not take anything back that disintegrates, which is damn near everything. I remember back in the 1990s they had some lovely, feminine pieces in velvet, gorgeous embroidered blouses, and sweet homegoods. Take a look at their clothing line now. Sixty cardigans that are based on the exact same shapeless-sack pattern; horrible prints; t-shirts that (sorry to beat a dead horse here) just FALL APART.
How do they stay in business?
I recommend Jjill for the comfort and design of their clothes. I've had no problem with shipping, the fit or the prices. They represent their company well. Go shopping and enjoy.
Answer: That is not a question, just a rant. This is Q&A only.
