The 24/7 support they love to advertise is just the tier 1 reset-your-password type of staff. Tier 2 is not available on the weekends (they say they are, but when you need to be escalated, it's a 1-3 day wait for a call-back.) We're just building our site, we are a very busy small business and asked six times (with six different chat reps) if tier 2 was available on the weekends because that is when we would be working on our site, and we were answered yes, (which we have in writing.) However we tried to get our site up this weekend and it was not possible because tier 1 said their site builder was "broken" so we could not finish building our site this weekend and there was no tier 2 support available. The tier 1 guy said he thinks the web site builder (their version of drag-and-drop is broken but there is nobody available to fix it on the weekend. He said they'd call back in a couple days.)We had set aside the entire day to get the site up and running. If they hadn't literally promised tier 2 on weekends, it wouldn't be so egregious.
I have been using their products for years and without any problem, until yesterday, I bought some domains and today I have not received any answer, but they do deduct the money from the bank. Since this order is through a new account, I have no way to contact them, basically because they didn't assign me an account and I don't even have a phone number since I don't have the contact PIN.
Very bad experience use Google workspace products via IONOS. Call center in the Philippines will always give you a different explanation to what they say in the UK. Avoid this firm if you can help it. Plus if your debit debt does not go through IONOS blocks your email service instantly including rejecting emails to your account. No grace period is provided.
Be aware that Ionos can trap you into buying something you don't want.
I had been a customer for years and had approximately 150 registered domains. I was gradually transferring them to a new registrar as Ionos prices were no longer competitive.
There user interface is slow and clumsy and perhaps intentionally so. It takes navigating seven pages to cancel a contract. If you have a significant number, canceling becomes a Herculean task.
I *thought* I had turned off all auto-renew, but apparently there were two that I hadn't. Well, shouldn't matter because I had no valid payment methods.
Turns out, Ionos, will charge you in this circumstance, even if you've transferred the domains to a different registrar. They will extend you "credit," I guess to do this? Then they'll come after you for payment and eventually sell your "debt" to a collection agency.
Further, they refused to help me cancel my domains with them. I was required to do it all manually which, since I had about 150 domains, took over five hours.
Yeah. I am not a fan of these people. :(
I have never had a website through ionos, and i looked at my card to find a 77$ charge.
Called them up and because i have no account with them they couldn't do anything.
So you will still get scammed from them even if you have never used them.
So at first I liked it then I realize the amount they charge for contracts it's like you're making a payment constantly you might as well be with the competitors for better service! So I decided to switch back to go daddy it stated in the email once I transferred my contract would be canceled! Once I transferred everything they have been trying to charge me $125 a years worth of a domain I won't be using! Why give them money for something I'm not using! FREE MONEY I think not! Won't be getting a dime outta me! I contacted my "consultant" Jennifer! Have I heard from her? Of course not! Had no issues until now they want money now I can't talk to her to get it resolved -5 stars!

They charge you heavily and do not deliver any services and domains as well, also they catch your card details for misuse, so stay away from them..
Used them years ago -useless -tie you into contract and their web services expensive and not fit for purpose
IONOS is a horrible company to deal with, and their design programs are useless to say the least. A word document has more design abilities than their word press and jetpac bull$#*!. Even after you pay for their packages its pathetic. I hope they close down, they do not deserve to be in business.
As with other negative reviews on here the main problem with IONOS is they don't have a clear & transparent pricing system. They only invoice once a contract is unbreakably agreed. Only then will see the renewal charges. Without doubt its practises do not meet UK regulations in terms of allowing a "cooling off" period to backtrack and cancel contract. Everything about the dashboard interface is to hoodwink clients into unwittingly clicking on contacts, extensions, renewals without recourse. I'm surprised how they've managed to evade regulators so long.
I bought a domain 2 months ago, they have already canceled my login and user details, they don't even answer phones, nor their IT support is null..
They will nickel and dime you and charge you hidden fees. Their company sucks. Do NOT use them. You have been WARNED. There are better alternatives.
Very poor service. They didn't register my domain. They claim I have an outstanding balance from a previous purchase. They are a liar.
I signed up for IONOS just to get email service domain and maybe a website builder. They were supposed to charge my account 2 dollars for the first month. I had 23 dollars in my account left to last me 4 days til I got paid. They took ALL of it. I called the next day could not talk to anyone that spoke English I could understand got hung up on asking for a manager. I call back was not rude at all asked for a manager again was hung up on again. That 20 bucks was my gas money for work the next few days. I called back a 3rd time was told no manager on site and they would call me back never did. So I ended up not going to work over my gas money they took. I cancelled everything the day after I signed up was told money would be back on my account within hours by customer service rep. Almost a week later and I still have not got the money back they took. I would never ever advice anyone doing business with this company it is a complete rip off and I regret ever trying the service. Very unprofessional very rude people. From now on I'm only doing business with companies that provide American based customer service. Lesson learned.
Worst and most unreliable hosting company ever!
I bought a hosting plan 1 year ago and everything was good. 2 days before the renewal date i canceled the subscription. I got automated message that i have to pay for the canceled subscription! I contacted customer support, My consultant was Arke Cenabr.
He told me to pay the invoice and he will refund me immediately to help removing the automated notice, I did it and paid the total money then asked for the refund they told me they will deduct $70 for the two days usage of the subscription despite i have canceled it before the renewal!
After many messages they reduced it to $20. I felt i am being robed so, unfortunately I agreed, But still no refund from them. I asked many times to refund my money back they refused and suspended my account and all my services and told me to open a dispute against them with my financial institute to get my money back!
They are scammers please don't buy from them, there are many qualified and cheaper hosting's out there.
Everything that they supply, after the leading prices of domains, is charged as an extra. Even then, in my opinion, we are 'led' into their enticing offers of extras (often essentials) with an intro price for the following period (eg. 1st month, 1st year, etc) followed by a huge increase in costs for the same item for all subsequent periods.
I was an original 1and1 customer and quite satisfied with their service and pricing. Now, I am most disappointed with their service, support and prices. Looking for a new domain host as the situation is unlikely to improve.
I am a marketing consultant and have hosted several sites with Ionos. Everything was fine (the UI is clunky but you get what you pay for) until I tried to cancel. I cannot even believe what this process has been! I have tried to cancel via the website where the contracts are hosted, via phone call (incoming and outgoing), and via email FOR MONTHS. I have made well over a dozen attempts to cancel for 6 months. I have requested, begged, and threatened to file formal complaints and write reviews warning others off, as I am doing now. And I keep getting billed. I see many reviews describing exactly what I have experienced, so this is clearly a standard business practice for Ionos and not an isolated error. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this company. Their low rates appear to be due to unethical billing practices and eventually, you will be caught up in this.
I made the poor decision to trust these guys with my website and now I am stuck with them! If I could go back and choose someone else I absolutely would! After wasting countless hours on numerous phone calls grapling with one bad customerrservice agent after another over the course of 4 days, not to mention the 6 months prior, this is my advice!
REASONS NOT TO USE THEM
1. They have NO customer assistance.
2. Their website creator glitches OFTEN.
3. Their website traffic data is inconsistent.
4. They will upsell you into products you dont need without providing any information.
5. They lie and hassle you into keeping their products.
6.If you use website creator, you can NOT move to another host.
7. They will NOT give you any contract info past what you have already payed for.(they consider past bills as contracts)
8. They have a lot of useless products that do nothing.
9. They lie about incentives through their advertising and then the agents have no idea what you are talking about.
10. They lie about assisting you with any kind of compensation to edge you into giving better reviews.
11. They lie about removing charges from your account.
12. They lie about attempting to charge your payment method causing you to go into default with their collections system and subsequently cause your website to lapse
If any of this seems like its too much to deal with, don't bother! The agents are rude and mostly hand you "calm down" and "oopsy poopsy, our bad"
Just use GoDaddy and get word press, it may cost a few bucks more, but at least they are credible companies!
On June 1,2022, I paid IONOS for both a website builder and a domain name. I expected the payment to be a mere $12.00 for one year, then $5.00 every month, but I then discovered shortly afterwards that IONOS took $144.00 off my card.
I went ahead and filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and IONOS refunded most of my payment to my card, which was $107.98, but then told me in my email that within 7 days they would take a payment of $12.00 from my card. I filed another complaint with the FTC letting them know about this latest problem and that I wanted IONOS to give me a full refund and for them to close out my account with them immediately, but unfortunately as of June 6,2022, IONOS once again took what was on my card, which was $107.98 (they actually tried to get another $144.00 from me, which forced my card to have a negative balance).
From my experience so far with this company, I have found IONOS to be totally dishonest, greedy, and not professional at all and from what I have seen from the online reviews here I expect them to continue on with their ruthless dishonesty, greediness, and unprofessionalism because companies such as IONOS really believe customers are totally stupid, can be easily fooled and taken for granted. Therefore, I am encouraging others to not only stay away from IONOS, but to also file official complaints with various consumer agencies, and if necessary, take legal action against IONOS over its blatantly corrupt business practices because an internet service company should not be ruthlessly entrapping its customers into unfair contracts designed to greedily keep drawing payments for its own wretched continued existence.
I was sent a demand letter from an attorney for $3500. This is concerning a photograph that is displayed on my website. I am being accused of copyright infringement. This picture was from a template from the IONOS Web Builder Design Tab. I have called and sent numerous emails to IONOS and was told that this has been escalated and someone would call me shortly. I am told there no way for me to talk to whoever this was "escalated" to. It has been 24 hours... not sure what their definition of shortly is. I now have to contact an attorney to represent me as I have NO INTENTION of paying. Going to court w/o representation is not an option. IONOS is 100% responsible for this action being brought against me. I have taken down the picture as well as my website. I have screen shots of everything as I am sure it will all disappear from the IONOS site soon. I will be looking for an attorney as well as a new web hosting company. This could all be avoided by just returning my call.
