The company's reputation is marred by significant customer service challenges, including long response times, difficulty with returns, and inconsistent support. Many customers express frustration over unfulfilled orders, defective products, and a lack of accountability regarding warranties. However, there are also positive experiences noted, particularly regarding prompt resolution of issues when escalated. A trend of declining customer satisfaction is evident, as long-time customers report a noticeable drop in service quality over recent years. Overall, while product quality is occasionally praised, the company's customer service approach requires substantial improvement to regain customer trust.

Had to order depth markers for pool. Website was unclear of adhesive. So, I contacted them and was assured adhesive came with item. Three different depths had to come from 3 different stores/warehouses. Got first shipment of 2 tiles today and noticed there was no adhesive. Immediately called company. Person in customer service had to speak with multiple people before telling me no, adhesive is not included. I asked if she knew what type of adhesive it was. All she could say was caulk over and over. Finally, I pushed more since there's several types of caulk out there and doubtful that the standard tube of tub and tile caulk would work. She placed me on hold a few more minutes and told me it was a specialized caulk they do not have in stock. So, it was determined order needed to be returned. The agent informed me that I would need to wait for all 3 shipments of these tiles to come in and I would have to call back with case number, repackage them, and drive them to the closest FedEx store 30 minutes from my house. Was also told a shipping label would not be available until I called the 2nd time. So, 30 minutes on the phone for them to determine they gave me bad information when placing order, a couple of weeks waiting for money to be refunded, 30 more potential minutes discussing a shipping label and asking again for refund, and 30 minutes dealing with repackaging and going to Fedex. The incompetence is unreal…For a moment I thought we were in a comedy skit. In the end, In The Swim will cost me over an hour of time. This is the first time placing an order with them and probably the last.
The charge over double the price of other competitors. Sorry i didn't do my research first. Could have saved over $800.
We purchased a 18 x 36 ft pool cover from IN THE SWIM, and after only 6 months (less than one pool season it disintegrated. And we covered the cover daily once we rolled it up on our roller. It was well cared for. When we contacted the company, with pictures, they refused to honor the warranty so we filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau today. They will not honor the warranty, once they have your money they are done with you!
This company is the worst for customer service we ordered a pool cover sent wrong size returned it they sent the same size said they would give a refund for us to send pool cover back no refund no pool cover this was oct 2021 $750 gone i have turned it over to BBB
I ordered Bromine tabs on the website, In very small letters it said chlorine. I received the chlorine tabs and called as soon as they came in, they explained that they don't do refunds or returns on any chemicals. I asked if I could exchange for bromine they said no. I explained to them the website says up to 30 day refund period. She told me if you go into the refund policy that its not allowed on chemicals so now I am stuck with $350 of chlorine. Which they wont even exchange
This pool cover was purchase from 'in the swim' on amazon and used for one season and rinsed off and dried before storing rolled up for the summer. It was in a salt pool and no harsh chemicals are used. When it was pulled out for second season many areas of bubbles disintegrated and missing were found and new areas started to emerge after placing the cover back in the pool. These bubbles ended up in my pump and filter. NO Help FROM THE VENDOR 'IN THE SWIM'. NO HELP FROM AMAZON. $174 wasted and a cleanup effort in my pump and filter was needed. This defective item should never have been allowed to be sold by Amazon after so many complaints. Wish I would have seen the complaints before purchasing. Don't be fooled by thinly veiled warranties as they do not enforce them and you have no protection. This is enough to change my shopping habits as they have proven to be a shady operation with this type of outcome. Don't say you were not warned after you get scammed too.
I searched for bromine on the In The Swim web site on a Sunday. Pop up window showed results giving 3 size buckets of chlorine. After selecting bucket sizes and ordering I realized I ordered chlorine and not the searched on bromine. I immediately tried to cancel. Web site had no way to cancel. Customer service number had no one working. Live chat said no one working but did allow you to send a message. I cancelled the order using this message and also sent email cancelling. Monday morning I called them when they opened and was told it was too late and it already was being processed. I also was told they would not accept returns, even if I left it in shipping package in opened
Buyer beware and avoid this company.
Ordered an item on Nov 1st 2021 it is the date of Dec 15th 2021 and nothing, when contacting the company they said it couldnt be delivered, after waiting almost a month and a half not even an email with updates nothing so if you need some stuff go somewhere else or youll have a huge dissapointment, to the owner or manager, go fuak yourselves for having the worst service ever..
I order aqua blocks to hold down my winter cover, the first set up 12 all had holes in them. They replacement order also had holes and one was broken. When I tried to explain the quality issue of the parts they were receiving from their supplier, they could care less. The accepted the return and will be accepting the 2nd return and I'm giving up and getting my money back. It's not worth my effort to try to make this work and I will no longer order from them. I will take my business elsewhere.
Have used this site, as well as two others, for the majority of my pool chemical and maintenance purchase for at least half a dozen years, giving up on two local pool stores, one of which is way expensive and the other selling inferior products. ITS ships to me in one to three days. Yesterday, I realized almost too late that one component of their winterizing kit was missing. Granted, it took me 30 minutes on CHAT to rectify their mistake, but rectify it they did, with the entire kit being resent to me today. This year with chlorine going sky high because of a factory fire and the panicked pool buying spurred on by the china virus, ITS still had among the lowest prices for bulk buys of chlorine.
Customer service cannot understand english. Lesly's bought in the swim out and the business has gone to crap. Erased all previous order history. I am going to stay local and pay more. Never order from here again.
So InTheSwim and INYO are a foreign site that says it has items in stock. You order a part then they say it is "ready to ship"... a few days later it is still "ready to ship". Chatting eventually shows that the product is on "backorder" and no idea when it will ship...
There seems to be a SCAM going on here.
Trust them not.
One day shipping is a lie. After waiting 5 days for my order to be shipped they say preparing to ship. They also said the item was in stock, which later found out that the item is in stock at the manufacturer. Would not refund my money and said I should get the item in 7-10 business days. Business based on smoke and mirrors. If I could give them negative star rating, I would. I heard people have given bad reviews on their site and the company deleted them.
I ordered a New Spa Blower through Amazon. In The Swim was the seller. The item I paid for was to be new from the manufacturer. They shipped a used, broken, tampered with item. I have brought this to the attention of In The Swim, Amazon. The BBB, etc. In The Swim refused to exchange or refund. Now I want my money back and I am working on getting them removed from Amazon. If you look at the BBB, this site and some others it becomes clear that this is how In The Swim does business. They do not care about customers. They are running a scam and burning customers. Do not use them no matter what. Do yourself and all the other customers a favor and buy pool products elsewhere. Pictures show damage to the housing and a missing bolt. Also, the machine turns on for a split second then turns off due to whatever the previous owner did to it. I have sent all documentation to In The Swim and Amazon and so far In The Swim has completely refused to help. They said to use the manufacturer warranty. The warranty was voided by the previous owner. Amazon hasn't been much help either.
Great product, quick response, great service. Products shipped and delivered faster the Amazon. Will continue to buy my pool product from them.
During a holiday promotion, I ordered an item that was on sale. It was a bundle that included a vacuum head, leaf net and a pool brush. When I received the the shipment, there was only a vacuum head in the box. I contacted them via chat on their website and was told that I only ordered the vacuum head and that my order was complete. I asked him if I could send him a copy of my receipt that they emailed me to show what I actually ordered. He send an email to which I copied my receipt along with a copy of what the website shows was the price for the vacuum head alone. My bundle was $30.78 on sale and the vacuum head was $24.99 on sale. I have not heard back from them timely so I reached out again asking for a status update. Again, no response. I normally buy all my chemicals for opening and closing my pool but am going to buy my chemicals from another site from here on out. If a company cannot stand behind its customer service, then I do not want to do business with this company.
I have never been taken advantage of like this before. I ordered a pool vacuum and received a bucket of useless product. Stealing in the highest form. I am filling a complaint with BBB. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
BUYER BEWARE! They say item is in stock, take your money, then tell you it will be 7-10 days. Won't let you cancel.
I bought an new Heyward Sand filter last year n May, and i bought a 2 year warranty with it.
It started throwing sand into my pool the first week. Heyward send an new mandrel, that i had to put in my self. No easy deal. It did not stop the problem. This year i started up the pool in May and sand is once again all over the pool and clogging up my rubber solar panels.
I called in the swim- they do not answer the support phone, i send email to no result. I called and got a man once, he sent me email to be sure i had the right place. I sent all my info to him a month ago and to date have never heard back from him or other wise- So much for a paid warranty..
Ordered a pool cover from these guys paid for expedited shipping pool cover never showed contacted support and support basically said I was lucky because typically the covers are out 4-6 weeks and I was lucky that I was getting it. Still working with support to get refund for expedited shipping
Answer: Pricing, and lack of awareness of how terrible they are.
Answer: Chat is fairly quick. Sometimes it is a waste of time.
Answer: Full on scam. Not sure how they're still in business.
