InTheSwim Reviews Summary

The company's reputation is marred by significant customer service challenges, including long response times, difficulty with returns, and inconsistent support. Many customers express frustration over unfulfilled orders, defective products, and a lack of accountability regarding warranties. However, there are also positive experiences noted, particularly regarding prompt resolution of issues when escalated. A trend of declining customer satisfaction is evident, as long-time customers report a noticeable drop in service quality over recent years. Overall, while product quality is occasionally praised, the company's customer service approach requires substantial improvement to regain customer trust.

Do not buy this product! Beware of the this company and all that it produces. It sells cheap knock-offs and you do not get what you pay for. I purchased a generic replacement for my Pentair IC40 system and it failed within 20 months based on normal usage. It was a motherboard failure and the company refuses to do anything about it. Another seller, In the Swim, also sells this product on Walmart.com and their customer service is trash. I was offered a 10% discount on a replacement unit that will fail within 20 months again, but they are charging nearly $700. Buy the name brand product and never purchase from Splash or In the Swim. The original Pentair Intellichlor product lasted 13 years and a replacement is $1000. Compare that to this dumpster fire of a product and you are guaranteed to lose money on everything In the Swim and Splash sell you.

Beware - you don't get what you paid for
February 15, 2023

I purchased a 9' x 18' x 52" rectangular Intex pool from in the swim in August of 2021, the package said it was the correct pool, so I just put it away until the spring. When I opened the box inside was the liner for a 10' x 20' x 48" pool, I contacted them about this and they said there was nothing they could do as it was past the 90 days, once I opened the rest I found it was the wrong pool, I paid $1300 + for a pool that sold for $1000. I tried again and said well you sent me the wrong pool, still past the 90 days. I then contacted the BBB and tried to go through them they asked me to send photos of what I received which I did and then they wanted more photos of what I sent photos of already, it was 3 to 4 months of just giving me a runaround and then they finally decided not to answer so the case was closed, nothing resolved I even asked if they would just refund me the difference, got nothing in return. I have also reported them to the FTC and hope that anyone else who has been screwed over by them does the same. My advice is if you should order from them make sure it's in Manufacturing packaging (mine was repackaged) and check it out immediately.

I ordered a pool cover, needed this to close the pool this weekend. They sent the wrong size, then would not send the correct one until they received the wrong one back in their warehouse and had time to process the return. I cannot leave until my pool is closed and now this could take a long time just to get what I ordered. Definitely do NOT order from this company. They are horrible. I am asking for a refund and going elsewhere. The quality of the crappy cover they sent (wrong size) was another reason to request my money back. I wouldn't order a thing from this company, even if they were cheaper. You get what you pay for and this company sells garbage pool covers and calls them medium grade. And you're lucky if you get what you ordered.

Pool cover and cables
September 27, 2022

On July 8th 2022 I purchased the chemicals need to close my pool and a 18 X 33 pool cover, Item No. *******
The cable and rachet came with the pool cover. My order number was WIT*******
The cable covering peeled off the cable and the rachet bent as it was tightened. Both needed to be replaced. This is the worse cable and rachet I have ever received in my 15 years of owning a pool.

Don't Swim Here
September 25, 2022

I recently ordered a pool closing kit from "In The Swim". The closing kit not only advertised chemicals to winterize your pool but "Bonus" air pillow for your pool as well - advertised for $33.00. Placed the order and later got a shipping notification showing a picture of only the air pillow only.

Received the air pillow only - not the chemicals as advertised. Called the company on a weekend and spoke to a person who spoke very poor English (don't call on weekends) who said he would take care of it for me. A few days later I got a new e-mail notification that the chemicals had shipped, with a small picture of the chemicals along with a price of $18.99. WTF - I already paid once for the pillow and chemicals I was not going to pay any more.

I waited for the chemicals and checked my credit card statement. Thankfully no additional charges (not yet anyway). The "Bonus" kit is definitely not worth the aggravation that goes along with a bait and switch scheme and the headache of whether I was going to be charged more.

Swim away and Swim away fast from "In The Swim"

Update: Inflated the pool float and closed the pool. A few days later the float had deflated. Had to remove the cover, attempt to find the leak on a 4x8 float. Inflated the float, glued the valve shut, and recovered the pool. A few more days later the float had deflated. So stay away from their pool floats as well.

"Ultra" solar pool cover
August 19, 2022

I received the 16 mil solar cover in March 2021 and it did a great job… for one season. Many of the bubbles fell off and would constantly be found floating in the pool instead of doing their intended job. This item has a stated 8 year warranty but they refuse to cover "bubble damage". I'm confused… isn't the cover pretty much nothing but bubbles? Their response was that I could buy another one for 15% off.

No matter what they are can be shipped to you, but cannot return if purchasing by error. Note at bottom of website "no returns on chemicals ". No starts should be what it can be given. Unhappy with service and company. Don't buy anything you don't want to keep.

Do not do business with this company. Despite the fact that on the website they say this is a husband and wife team that is dedicated to superior customer service, that is a lie. I bought products from them that were not right, because their marketing material was misleading. And their customer service response was impersonal and borderline rude. I went on a three week vacation, came back and I was two or three days outside of the return window, and they would not wait. Bad company

Solar Pool Cover
July 13, 2022

I bough their ultra 16ML pool cover in April of 2021. It states there is an 8 year partial warranty, 2 year full warranty. I sent them pictures of the pool cover falling apart after 1yr two months. It was falling apart and pieces were getting in my filter. They replied back and said they would give me 15% off on a new purchase. I paid over $200.00 for the one i bought from them and they don't want to replace it even after i sent in pictures and had my order number with the date. I will not be buying any pool products from them again. Poor customer service.

I know for a fact, they cancelled my order and did not honor the original order/agreement. I placed order thru Amazon on 7/1/2022, website claimed product was in stock. I received a confirmation that order would be delivered between 7/13/2022 and 7/15/2022, then another between 7/13/2022 and 7/18/2022. I needed the pool motor ordered as soon as possible, so I emailed the Seller "In The Swim", thru the Amazon website and asked if my order could be expedited. I received a message back from Hanna A. At In The Swim, who advised me that my order was lost and I would be credited on my credit card. I contacted Amazon, they couldn't help. She attempted to search for another motor, but pricing was crazy high or no stock. I was told if I wanted to re-order price would be $417 with 10 day delivery. I paid $317 on my original order. I've been in Sales/customer service my whole career, when you have an agreement, you honor it! Be cautious, I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

Missing Order
June 29, 2022

Our order says it was delivered, just not to our address. In the Swim won't refund or replace the items. We have no way of getting them or knowing where they are. We are out $300.00. I even checked the address on our account and it was correct. Buyers Beware

The timeliness of the delivery was ok. The delivery only came one day late from the day that it was promised. However the material/ the whole product was damaged and and when you call the company they have a really weird way of even trying to get you a refund or a replacement. Stated it would be another month for replacement. I am just not that hard-up for a pool that cost over$1300. Poor service as a company

I was skeptical at first because I had never heard of them, and then I saw the same pool steps at Walmart with reviews from intheswim.com, and Walmart and Amazon wanted $100 more for the same steps. I couldn't afford them upfront, but I was able to finance them with Affirm. After I made the order I started to get nervous because the date of expected delivery was approaching and there hadn't been an update or a tracking number for them, and then I read all the bad reviews on here and thought that I wasn't going to get my pool steps. The day before the expected delivery day the steps arrived with all the hardware and I couldn't be happier! I bought the vinyl works deluxe entry steps with locking gate for $439.00 at intheswim.com, and I'm so glad I did. Maybe still give them a try even though some people on here have had an unfavorable experience. The picture is of my steps I have only finished part of them, but I just wanted to show they are real.

Very disappointed
June 2, 2022

I ordered a pool liner. After ordering it stated it would be delivered by May 26th. June 1 I called customer service and was informed that the pool liner would not be shipped until mid August. Needless to say I was very disappointed and canceled my order.

I ordered almost $300 dollars of chlorine. Was charged the day it supposedly shipped, less than 48 hours after the order. Days after the promised delivery I sent an email which was not responded to. I called customer service and was informed that "due to unfortunate circumstances the item was not able to be delivered". I requested a refund, and was pushed to have another order shipped as expedited which could be delivered in about a week (some expediting that is). I again asked for a refund, was told it would take 3-5 business days to process a refund. Funny how a company can charge immediately but their process for a refund takes a week. Do not order from this company if you actually expect to receive your product, or do not mind giving them your money to use for free for awhile.

We ordered a filter from this company. It came with a manufactured defect. I just wanted to return and get a new one. I was told I was mot permitted to do that and needed to go through Hayward for a warranty claim. Customer service was horrible. Spoke with Stephan the supervisor and she was very rude. Save your time order somewhere else!
