The response to ban a potential customer for a simple question instead of offering a reply seems really out of proportion and I see as a warning of how they would resolve any issues with orders. I'm glad I only wasted $20 with them.
I was very interested in Prodex, so I ordered a free sample box. There was a $10 shipping fee and a $9 "residential shipping fee". I thought that was a bit strange, but overall $20 for a sample box still seemed fair, so I ordered. I got an order confirmation and a notification that the box would be shipped via FedEx next day. Cool... but also, FedEx charges a "residential shipping fee"? Seemed strange, so I asked about it. Just a question - maybe there was a glitch in their system? I've known of other industrial vendors that ship large products resulting in an additional fee to ship residential based on logistics required. Which, in that case, seems fair.
The reply I received was simply "Because the shipper charges a 'residential' delivery fee". Super vague, thoughtless, and a bit cheeky. I was peeved, I have a very low tolerance for bad customer service. Decided to wait until the box arrived to reply, maybe there was some clue there. When it got here, it's just a standard 12x12 box. So I replied - albeit a bit cheeky myself at this point - my reply got forwarded to what I assume is a manager (he did not include a title in his signature) who not only did not answer my question, but told me that they might not be the best fit. Umm... why, because I asked a question and his staff could not be bothered to pen a genuine reply? I was actually interested in ordering the product, but also I've already been recommended other similar products where perhaps the staff is not so touchy that I can't even ask a simple question.
Anyhow, correspondence is attached, judge for yourselves if this was warranted... keep in mind. This is all just for inquiring what a fee is about. Not disputing it, just inquiring. I did keep the conversation going because well I've been at home sick and it's actually turned entertaining, but also shows the level of service you can expect.
Prodex was is very good product in my opinion. Very easy to work with and appears to work very well.
I have been using Prodex Total for the past few years and have found it to be very effective for my metal roofs. It is much easier to work with than 1" styrofoam and gives more R-Value. I highly recommend Prodex and all their product lines. I have never had an issue with shipping thus far.
The insulation is flexible and easy to install. I put it in my crawlspace, garage and metal building. I can really tell a difference in my metal building. I got it in about a week.
I Insulate in my pole barn best price on the market I am super excited to see how it does in the Montana winners!
Great product. Easy to install, so much better then normal insulation & looks great & keeps building warm.
I have a metal carport that I enclosed with walls and a floor. I needed a place to store stuff but was worried about condensation damage. Insulation value was secondary to me. I considered 1/2 inch rigid foam but it would not conform to the curves at the eves. Also, the space between the beams was 53" which meant it would look like a patchwork quilt if I used the drop-offs. The 48 inch wide rolls of Prodex Total White were a perfect option. I used a Gorilla construction adhesive and I griped well. I think the aluminum coating on the Prodex helped with this because it is hard to bond Polyethylene. I put beads at 9-inch centers and pressed the material against it, worked like a charm. You have to take extra care in aligning each section because once it is stuck it is impossible to reposition.
I have not had condensation on mornings when my other roofs do and you can feel the difference in the radiation effects in the daytime. I measured a 10 to 15-degree difference between the Prodex white surface and the bare metal roof. I am very happy with how the project turned out and highly recommend this product.
I can't say enough about Insulation4Less. The product is so awesome. I had no idea what to do for a Shipping Container and the website was so helpful. You can tell a real difference when you get the insulation up. My friend helping me wondered if we would need to add additional insulation. He quickly found out that was not necessary.
I needed insulation between my living space and my garage, which had old batt insulation falling down and falling apart- so basically no insulation. I looked at new fiberglass batt and was unimpressed. Tons of protective gear to install and only moderately effective- and that's only when it's new. I'm not crawling into the upper reaches of my garage more than once, so fiberglass was out. I looked at foam but ruled it out for cost. When I found Prodex, I was a little skeptical, I admit. I ordered samples (yes, they do that) and even then was unsure it would really do as they say.
I installed the first couple bays and realized it really was pretty easy. Start at the top, lay it out all the way down the studs, cut and then staple it. I would recommend a good stapler, you'll get tired hands soon if you use a regular "Arrow" standard version. Also, the foil tape is important to get a good seal. Order through Prodex or from local hardware store. I chose to get it from local store so I could control how much I bought and could return what was unused.
Besides not having to wear tons of protective clothing (in summer, in my attic of my garage...) there were so many advantages to the installation. It was easy to cut, easy to move around, easy to get into high and far away places.
I've noticed a dramatic difference in the living space now especially in the winter. I know the room is cooler in the summer, but the main discernable change is the winter temp. The Prodex ended up being really affordable, in the end. I needed one roll of the insulation and a bunch of the foil tape but the whole project came way under $300. No way I could have replicated that with fiberglass batt.
Bought this on the recommendation of another astronomer. Use it to wrap the tube of my SCT telescope. These telescopes have a problem with air currents trapped inside (they are sealed on both ends). This leads to deterioration of optical performance, and the need to wait many hours after the telescope has been moved from inside to outside where there is a large temperature difference, e.g. in winter. Falling temps also cause a problem. The Prodex insulation largely solves these problems. Insulation4Less shipped promptly. Insulation is easy to cut and fit.
I purchased Perforated Prodex Total rolls a few years ago to wrap my house in and it worked great for insulating. As per instructions, I installed wood strips on top of it, then the exterior vinyl siding. After installation, I have noticed a real difference for my heating costs.
I have "conditioned" several crawlspaces, and decided to try an insulated vapor barrier for this one. I'm very pleased with the results. Prodex was easy to work with. The falling fiberglass insulation, smelly septic tank, and mummified cat were all cleaned out, drainage provided for the lakes, and then we insulated the underside of the floor with foam board, After covering the muddy ground with 4 1/2 cubic yards of pea gravel, the lakes were gone and the Prodex went over it nicely without sharp points to damage it. "Christmas tree" clips were used to anchor the Prodex directly onto concrete, and strips of wood held it tightly to the sill board along the top of the foundation walls. We also used Prodex to insulate the ductwork after that was sealed with mastic. I'd recommend you order plenty of material, for we ran out on the ductwork and had to order another similar product, since we were pressed for time in our remote location.
The main reason I was interested in an insulated vapor barrier, is to bring the surface of the vapor barrier to a higher temperature in the semi-heated crawlspace (some heat is emitted from the upstairs, an heating ducts). Otherwise, you get condensation on the cold surface of an un-insulated vapor barrier on the ground. There is no sign of any such problem as yet. I like the parallel lines in the Prodex, for they act as guides for cutting with a (sharp) utility knife. I used a large scrap of carpet to place over the barrier to protect it from damage near the access hatch, in case things are stored in the crawlspace. A lot of work, but well worth it in the end!

Excellent company to purchase from, prompt responses to emailed questions, and an excellent product.
I have built a 42 X 74 X14 pole barn. I decided to use Insulation 4 less for the side walls as I am going to finish off the walls. I live in northwest Ohio and it gets cold here. I have installed the 5M insulation as per the instructions. The temperature has been in the low 30' this December. I keep the heat set at 45 degrees when I'm not working out there. Evenings I go out to check the heat consistency with the use of an Infrared Camera. All of the walls are a constant reading. I have thermostats all around the barn so I can evaluate the consistency of my Radiant Tube heating coming from the Ceiling. All thermostats read 50 degrees which is warmer than my Heating Units setting of 45 degrees. It has to do with the reflectiveness of the 5M insulation I guessing as to why the barn is warmer than the main setting. Very impressed with this.
In have used Prodex insulation in my home and garage. It is easy to work with and a great job of insulating from heat and cold.
While I worked construction 35 years ago as a teenager, neither my wife nor I have ever installed insulation.
The actual install went very smoothly, our teenage daughter helped putting down the dual sided tape and running glue.
The install went very smoothly, we got all this done in an afternoon.
It looks great, it was easy, and I can't wait to work out in the shop this winter.
I bought the insulation from Insulation4Less. Quick shipping and really good price for the R value of the product. I used it when I built my wood shop. So easy to install, acts like a vapour barrier also. Very happy with the company and the product.
Still haven't received my product yet. I ordered on 9/17 according to Trucking company tracking it arrived at local terminal on 9/22 and no one has been able to find it any where. I started calling both the trucking company and these guys on Monday before we were pouring on Friday 10/2 and didn't receive any real answers until I asked to cancel my order and I was told if you cancel we still charge you and you don't get you product also we will charge you for the return shipping for the product that no one can find. Had to jump through hoops to do something else and still don't have my insulation. Finally get an email today 10/5 that they will ship it out again after I no longer need it. So if you order be sure they use some one else besides for Roadrunner Freight to ship it.
FACTS:
A. Chris B ordered 4 rolls of insulation. He got 9 rolls!
B. The shipper misplaced his initial order. We then shipped a replacement order. The shipper then sent the customer the original order PLUS 1 roll of insulation that belonged to someone else.
C. Chris B. Accepted ALL the rolls! He didn't tell the shipper that he already received his insulation. He didn't notified us that he received more than twice as much as he ordered.
Fortunately, the above conduct is not typical of most people. It's unfortunate that a small portion of people of poor character are able to write whatever they wish in public forums.
This company just wants to argue, we are still waiting for our order 2 weeks after placing our order and they said its our fault that the delivery company is holding our order hostage and hasn't delivered due to residential charge. I have the receipt that clearly shows from insulation4less own website that I not only selected residential delivery, but I paid the residential delivery fee. They then said that there is no fees for residential delivery on their website, Well then why is it on my receipt from their website? Rather than get to the bottom of the issue and have a civil conversation that could result in a long term customer spending lots of money with their company, insulation4less just keeps sending argumentative emails threating us if we file a charge back they would keep the product and our money, (which we never said we would do, but now we are now seriously considering a civil suit) buyer beware! Shady business practices. After reading many of their other reviews this seems to be a pattern with them. Wish I would have done more research.
Facts:
Order place Sept. 16.
Order Delivered October 1.
Delivery took 11 business days. Our website states LTL shipments normally deliver in 10 business days. Customer had misunderstanding with trucking company and confused them for us. We resolved the issue for them resulting in delivery only one day outside the norm.
Been loving my Prodex Total 10M insulation! We use this material for building rooms (the walls and ceilings in place of drywall and chipboard) that are inside a metal building. It works perfectly since it kills 3 birds with one stone (radiant, vapor, air). Have saved thousands of dollars and product works as advertised. I am a happy camper!
