Ordered a chest of drawers from IKEA online for delivery. They sent me an email explaining I am to wait for a followup email on when it will be delivered. 2 days later i received the email. No options for delivery dates/times (like online food shopping does). So, the day THEY chose was not good for me and i needed to change.
I spent 2 weeks trying to contact IKEA and wasted so much phone credit! On my way home from work I had a missed call received 2 hours earlier, 'We're outside your house, Miss Wood with your delivery.'
I was livid. Re-called then and there and they said they are an external delivery service, so for a redelivery it will be charged.
Only good thing about the experience was I did receive my refund AND my phone credit once I gave proof. Just, will not be ordering for delivery in the future.
I love the online category, and check the promo info regularly there.
I always have a wonderful time shopping online for wooden furniture on this well-made website full of promotions, great furniture, and state of the art search tools. Lovely site for help furnishing a lovely home!
Ikea isn't the best furniture but it works! Generally looks pretty good. If you order online shipping is a bit expensive but it comes as promised. Quality is variable. Doesn't last forever and it can be hard to assemble, but it's Ikea!
I bought 3 Ingolf bar stools for my kitchen island in the antique stain. The color of the stools clashed with my walls so I took them back. There was a short line for returns/exchanges but I waited maybe 5 minutes. The employee who helped me was friendly and efficient. I ended up buying the same stools in the brown/black finish and they look great in my kitchen!
Ikea has some decent stuff. I have found some attractive furniture items that were reasonably priced. The only problem I have had is trying to call customer service if I am having problems assembling the furniture. They were completely incapable of helping. Luckily, through trial and error, I figured it out on my own. It would be good if they logged common problems assembling certain pieces so that their customer service is better equipped to help.
Ikea has a great selection of affordable furniture and accessories. The furniture is not super high quality, but you get what you pay for. The furniture is very attractive, but if you move the furniture a lot from room to room or house to house, it will slowly break apart. This still takes several years of constant moving.
No offense but what's the hype? The food is cheap and some of it is truly Swedish but the furniture is junk and you have to be herded like cattle through the store with some sort of stupid maze. I am not impressed. It was super packed with people the two times I went so they must be doing something right.
Ikea is great for furnishing your home or office, but I find the site really difficult to navigate. For some reason it doesn't seem intuitive and usually I just end up going to my local store after the frustration with dealing with them online.
I cannot have worse words for a store. I purchased dressers, TV stands, and more and half of it fell apart within 3 months. The wood is made of crap and i can't even begin to say how bad their service is.
