I set up an ID.me account to add an additional protection against identity theft in particular related to my tax returns, as recommended by my CPA. The process was straightforward and the website functioned well, especially in getting the additional confirmation of my identity with the upload of my DL photo. I will now have an ID number to attach to my tax return (which apparently is changed every year), to further confirm the tax return is legitimate.

I used ID.me to verify my identity in order to receive a discount. The process was generally straightforward and easy to follow. However, I would recommend checking that your ID or driver's license is not expired before uploading it. If the document is expired, the system may return an error. I spent about 25 minutes trying to understand why I was getting an error before realizing that my ID had expired. Once I understood the issue, the process made more sense.
This service was incredibly frustrating to use. Upon uploading our documents to verify our income, they were rejected multiple times, even after expressly following provided instructions. As a result, the program kept prompting us to link our bank accounts, as it would not accept our bank statements. When reaching out to customer support, we were referred to more AI, and we never spoke with an actual person. After 4 days of this ordeal and 8 document uploads, we have still been unable to verify our income, which is delaying our rental application and very frustrating. This site is a scam and simply attempting to steal people's bank account information. Everyone, be safe out there.
When it comes to almost all aspects the program is easy to use with the exception of the video selfie.
For some reason it's unable to utilize the selfie camera. However you can get around this by pointing the rear camera at your image in a mirror.

Despite its statements to make it appear trustworthy, ID.me has trackers embedded in its pages — even the Privacy page. If your phone is set up to deny camera access to web pages, the system gets into a loop of error messages with no directions or links to instructions. Once I finally googled an answer and went through their creepy real time camera verification "successfully", the site I was trying to login in to gave an error message that the process failed with no explanation or reference number. I gave up and never was able to access the site I needed. I was very frustrated and angry.
