My experience was good it was for the most part pleasant the only thing that I didn't care all that much for was the selfie video. If it were me, I would try to find a workaround from that because not everybody has access to a camera.
I thought this would be much worse...I anticipated long hold times and having to re-enter data multiple times. Scanning my ID front and back was simple. The live selfie verification did not work at all, and after several attempts, I was getting frustrated. I would need a live agent to verify my identity through a video chat (yay!)...after just a couple minutes, a man appeared, looked at me, then the pictures I uploaded of my ID, thanked me, and it was that simple! Amazing! Please get rid of the selfie part. Leave it to the pros!

No one likes being sidetracked from their task at hand in order to take care of another problem. Already being frustrated, I found the website irritated me, asking 1-2 questions and then having to confirm only to load the next page with another 2-3 questions. When it came time for a video with customer service the representative whom i dealt with was amazingly nice, understanding, and helpful. She offered real solutions to my problems instead of the runaround you get elsewhere. Once she was involved my verifications were done within minutes.
ID.me was quick, simple, very easy to understand and use. I couldn't get into my SSA account when I tried to set one up through the SSA site on a Sunday. This saved me a lot of time and frustration if I would have had to contact SSA directly for help, I would have had to wait until Monday and wasted time trying to contact a live person.

I received email notification from Soc Security that a message was waiting for me on their website.
I had previously used ID.me to establish mysocialsecurity account. Now when I get this email notification I am stopped by ID.me to go through many time consuming steps of adding additional security information that I feared was a scam to get MORE of my personal info that included uploading document and face recognition video. I felt scared that it was a trap. So many entities lately have experienced hacks into their system so I felt worried about providing all this information when I had already last year established a relationship with ID.me. Good luck to all of us that are allowing this process to upload so much personal information.
