I have been using ID.me for several years. It enables me to sign on to federal government websites almost effortlessly. I hate the hassle of proving my identity several times when accessing websites. Once you prove your identity to ID.me one time, you need only provide them with your user I'd and password once. That's all!
I started using ID Me for quite sometime. It started with the NJ Courts for paying traffics tickets. Then, I noticed whenever I would login the site would verify me through different platforms. I needed to get my identity verified to access various Government agencies. There were two choices. ID me and the other guys. I tried the other guys first, because they were first in the list of choices. I grew frustrated and could not get any customer service from them. I switched to ID me and everything went well. The customer service rep was timely, professional and very helpful. The whole thing took about ten minutes. I would recommend ID me to anyone needing to verify their identity.
This verification process was frustrating. The photos of my I'd were continually rejected and had to be cropped and positioned just right to be accepted. The selfie verification was also rejected over and over for too much light, too little light, etc. Until I finally chose the live video verification step. The agent was polite, patient and helpful. He explained each step and why we're doing it and in a few minutes I was verified and given the follow instructions to successfully sign into my social security account.
Don't make your ID.me account until you are ready to do anything on Social Security website. Once you have your ID.me account the process is fast and easy. The video chat was also easy. Make sure to collect your important documents beforehand like your State or drivers license, birth certificate and Social security card.

I could not proceed past the first couple of screens. My solution was to get a person highly knowledgeable in current computer applications to help me at each step throughout the "form." If I had not had access to such a person, I would have been unable to obtain the benefit of essential information security.
Tried login.gov several times to verify my ID. Login.gov never accepted my phone number, which I have had for several years. I read online where others had the same problem but had no problem using ID.me. I tired ID.me and it worked great on the first try, no problems. I was then able to look at my SS information. I wasted my time and submitted my personal information to a site that didn't work. Use ID.me! It works and it's easy!
I was forced to enroll in and use ID.me simply to pay a small bill to the IRS. I do not know why all this was required to do that. The whole process was very cumbersome and user unfriendly. I have given comments to the company that they seriously need to look at redesigning their system.
If you are sick of all the corruption, fraud and wasteful spending ie money laundering of our tax dollars you will welcome the I.D. Me process with open arms

These days, knowing that you are accessing a secure website is very important. I appreciate the lengths that ID.me goes to to ensure security of my personal information. Some may find it inconvenient or a hassle to take the extra steps needed for verification, but it's worth it. It's also convenient and fast for those with a basic level of knowledge regarding websites.
Painless and quick considering it's an extra layer, but I had to log into my SSA anyway, but it is frustrating to some of our older friends who barely know how to use a cell phone
Had to open new account. Very hard process. Probably will avoid using again. I got what I needed. But it was sheer luck. And I Probably couldn't do it again.
Needed to be able to verify myself proving with documents that are or more then likely having on hand as all should, most valued documents you probably have in wallet or purse, did video call with agent that after you upload pictures of the document you get to show in person is really you providing these documents as to make sure isn't someone trying to portray them self as you so makes it that much more legit and trustworthy and very good platform with excellent credentials. 100% guaranteed as it was trusted enough to let me into sensitive information site of myself (governmental) that I needed to update info for.
I'd rather not say because I am not satisfied right now. Not with your services with the social Security administration department
Not fun. They have you going back and forth from phone to computer. App disappears, images disappear. Just an awful experience.
