I used ID.me to create my IRS online account and authenticate my information. It was easy to use and the steps are clear.
I already had an ID.me account set up but this was the first time I was asked to do a video selfie. I was initially skeptical but now I realize this is more secure and harder to fake a selfie video whereas a flat photo could be used instead of a live photo and could possibly lead to identity theft. It was a very quick and easy thing to do and took very little time to get verified.
