We should all try to secure our critical accounts. Your Social Security is one of them! ID.me takes a little effort to set up but it's worth it. It requires Multi-Factor authentication which makes access to the account more secure ( I opted for a secure password and a text to my personal device)

Did everything correct with ID.ME. Spend 2 hours doing everything requested and directions were extremely poor. IRS will not issue my PIN number because of issues from ID.ME. No help or support from ID.ME. It will take weeks to fix this issue. I am doomed to not get an electronic refund.
Ask whatever organization is asking you to use id.me if there is another alternative. Seriously, I have had to set identity parameters for numerous companies and NONE of them put me through the *******@llsh#t id.me did!

The requirement to use yet another method to get to my VA medical records is frustrating. The process up to the actual idme verification(dealing with the repetitive and confusing.gov website) was frustrating and time consuming. The idme representative and interview was pleasant and rewarding. I am happy to have that ordeal behind me me!

I found using IDme, easy if you know how to upload photos to a site. That was the most difficult task for me, but I am not good on the gadgets. What saved me was I had an iPhone and an Ipad, so by using one to figure out what I needed to do, and doing it on the other device helped. But it is fast, and I got the info I needed.
