Well, honestly, to sign-up for ID.me requires your life's history. However, providing that your personal information continues to remain secure under the present political climate in the country, it makes accessing your information on multiple sites very easy and convenient with using your login information.
Where to start? It actually makes paying taxes online HARDER! It assumes that everyone has a computer with a working camera and a private space to work in. If credit card companies and mortgage companies and literally EVERY other agency with access to my financial data, social security number etc etc is able to verify my identity and provide secure service, why does the IRS need ID Me? And who IS this entity? Are they private? They just showed up one day and now they are the gatekeepers that overcomplicate and create an accessibility issue. Even the TSA let's you opt out of biometric identification at the airport, but you are forced to endure a dystopic labyrinth of bureaucratic baloney with ID.me
I went through all the rigmarole & jumped through all of their ridiculous hoops only to NOT be able to login to ssa.gov after my identity was supposedly successfully verified. MESS.
I waited 30 minutes in the queue, and the agent couldn't give me 30 seconds to fix a setting on my camera. She insisted that we use my phone, and then Zoom, so it's hilarious that this is a security and identification company. Neither worked, so she shunted me back into the queue despite my camera now being perfectly functional. General apathy and rushed speaking didn't do either of us any favors. Why would I believe that these people have my security in mind instead of their daily quota?
Nice and easy steps and follow through was a steady process as well. Would recommend and use again.

It was a horrible experience. I uploaded documents per instructions, but the JPEG's were rejected. I uploaded the exact same JPEG's two and three times later and they were accepted. I was right-ID.me's software was wrong and it was infuriating.
