This is ridiculous to have to go through 3rd party company. Its been days and I still can't get them to verify my identity. I'm a tax paying US citizen! I have a security 9 clearance with a securities company and they can't seem to verify my identity. I tried again will on vacation to verify, wouldn't approve my printed copy of my passport (go to any embassy around the world with a printed copy because your passport was lost or stolen is fine) So sad to see that the IRS does not use Login.gov like the rest of the government. It is a sad day when government turns to this type of outsourcing.
I have decided complain to as many senators as possible including FTC to action this curse upon taxpayers.

Takes some time, may have to photo your ID and submit, may have to phone verify, may have to have actual live video chat to verify with you ID in your hands to show in live video chat, so have ID pictures done and ready ahead of time (then delete off your devices so they won't be hacked and stolen). ID.me a necessary evil for IRS, some military and other discounts. And who knows if your info will be hacked into on the ID.me site. Even top companies and govt get hacked often.
