In 2019, I cashed in about $300 w/ Ibotta. But, since the Covid, nothing I buy is accepted anymore. 2020, less than $40. I'm uninstalling.
Horrible. You go out and purchase things, expecting to be able to get cash back and they're way to greedy to pay you the money they OWE you. Total piece of trash app, complete garbage and always having errors left and right. All my family members have issues with this app too, do not download it and dont waste your money buying things they are thieves!

I have been a member and user of this app for years. You used to hear back from customer service same day, but now it takes longer than a week. For bonuses and other things that happen in the app in real time it isn't acceptable.

Most of the time you have to scan what you bought because Ibotta doesn't do a good job at reading a receipt.
Then the money is pending... then you get a message telling you they can't read the receipt. If you have to resend the receipt then you have to rescan everything and hope you didn't eat it.
Trying out this app to get their $20 intro promotion, I found you have to do 9 items in 14 days to receive the bonus. Not easy to do. The main problem seems to be the single size items like sports drinks, energy bars and others are not available even at my Walmart Super Store. The items that are featured as "free" in that they refund you the purchase price are also non-existent of mostly not available. You can find the larger package sizes or bulk items but as they are brand names, the cash back is only 50 cents or a dollar and not really worth the time to use the app and wait on your cash back.

After the first month, which they paid promptly, they were slower 2nd month. The third month, I put in 3 Walmart orders and the credits totaled over $100! Almost A MONTH and over A DOZEN EMAILS over EACH ORDER later, STILL have NOT BEEN PAID A PENNY!

Some stores are automatically tied to your store member card and others aren't.
Either way, when you scan a receipt, you're not finished. I've asked what am I finishing and I've never gotten an answer.
Now just days after trying to enter another set of receipts, they sent me a letter they have deducted funds for inactivity.
The next session wants me to add proof of purchase. These receipts are printed on what used to be called fax paper and start fading and smearing after a few days.
I have no idea if they're in this country or another country but I do not have very many apps that offer me this much frustration.
Even before Covid, pennies counted and if something could help you get a few more here in there legally, without a ton of effort and working reliably, it wouldn't hurt.

The worked with Walmart over Thanksgiving that if you ordered online and ordered certain items you would receive 100% cash back... SCAM they never refunded my money and I sent email after email with the only reply we are working on it... UGH Don't be duped.
I got an add that I could get free food as well as discounts by using this ad. I went to Walmart, PURCHASED the food with money I was sure would return to me but it wasn't. Ibotta said: "Unfortunately, Walmart receipts that are sent within the app by the TC# can only be re-sent within the first 24 hours of the first submission. We apologize for any inconvenience." Then they said could I please provide picture of the offer and the entire receipt. The offer expired since it took them up to or over a week to respond to my question about where my money was. And, I no longer had the receipt! I followed every single step this app said to do PLUS gave my bank information so the money could go back into my account. This is not right and is overly frustrating to people who are ALREADY frustrated by the times we are living in and the stress we are all experiencing from the world events. I can't say enough negative things about this site. RUN AWAY - (Also, the food items are no longer in my pantry or fridge, they are food items - they've been eaten!)
Ibotta is a rip-off! I was trying to stretch my unemployment benefits with Ibotta. I purchased 10 items at Publix to qualify for over $20.00 in "rewards". I am a member of the Publix loyalty club and signed up for digital receipts. When I downloaded the digital receipt to Ibotta, it was rejected because it was not an "original" receipt. This is total BS! A digital app will not accept a digital receipt! I feel like they stole $20.00 from me and it really stings! Avoid being ripped off!
I was scammed by ibotta a few years ago and swore I would never use it again. During the COVID shutdown, I came across a new SM platform and subsequently found the "Couponers" that tell you how to coupon and get a stockpile of products.
I came across a few that swear by ibotta so I decided to give ibotta another chance.

I have 8 receipts that I've been trying to scan but the app won't let me do it. I should have known better than to trust this horrible scamming app
What a pain! You have to go in and select what you are going to buy. It was working OK - since my Walmart account is linked, but then stopped, when I had the largest refund amount (~$10), Ibotta care (they DON'T) wants me to now (2 weeks later when they finally get back to me!) sent them a list of my items and a photo of the package AND barcode. Are you freaking kidding me!?!? They have my receipt - I uploaded it! Com on! You've gotta do better than this!
I also had an issue when I got a new phone - didn't remember my password and they locked me out of my account. It took about a month to convince them I was me! OMG! Nothing is easy if you have to got thru the ibotta care (they DON'T care!). And it always takes at least a week for them to get back to you!
Ok - so honest, I've been using this for 6 months and I have almost $30 - to put toward a gift card. I buy a lot of store brands, rather than named brands, so this doesn't really work well for me anyway. I really like Ratuken - they mail a check. Bye Bye ibotta - you suck!
Do not waste your time. I have not been able to withdraw the funds I have earned and I have not been able to get help from their so called "care" team after multiple attempts. Also, many items that they say are qualified do not scan after you buy them. I have no idea how these people are even allowed to stay in business.
I downloaded Ibotta App and used it this entire year, only to be denied my cash back. This company is total waste of time and customer service representatives don't speak english. I was given run around to use my earned cash, but to no avail. Don't use it. You are better off staying away from this fraud.
Several problems with this app and horrible customer service. They take forever to process your scanned receipt and then they say they are expired. You have 7 days to upload your receipt and did it within that timeframe but they didn't process it until 48 hours and said it was expired. I've emailed a few times now with no response. Ridiculous and a waste of time!
This is such a scam. Stay away this app. They offer great cash back but then beat around the bush for months and don't give anything. First it's not enough details, then it's not enough something else. Then 3 months later then say you just don't qualify.
I am gonna get red of this app, it used to be good. It never gives you credit for items purchased and then you have to open a ticket which I have one open right now and it's been 5 days and nobody has responded. Who has time for that!#
Scammed my 80 year old mother into thinking she would get a free thanksgiving dinner. I purchased the goods from Walmart with the understanding that I would receive a rebate. No rebate, no customer service, no good. I ended up just paying for the thanksgiving meal and telling my mom it was free. Shame on Ibotta AND Walmart for this deceptive holiday scheme during covid.
I dont know how people earn money on this app. I fell for the free Thanksgiving dinner stuff. Half of the offers had expired so I got $17.68 worth to redeem but you have to hit 20.00 before you can. So I tried my target order, for driveup, by going thru their app to the supposed target website. Nothing, absolutely nothing, I tried to order would allow me the drive up option so I decided to go straight thru the target app. Wow, everything was then available for drive up. Not thinking i completed the order but, it turns out, you cannot redeem offers this way. I would have got the same stuff anyway but I wasted soooo much time. I'll never get the other $2+ change to cash out the "free" Thanksgiving dinner. I dont necessary think its a scam because they aren't getting anything from me besides spending habits and if you use target, walmart or Amazon apps they already track and sell your habits. Bottom line: DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.
Answer: Absolutely so true! I earned up just over $100 and when I went to cash out they said I was fraudulent YET I HAVE EVERY RECEIPT and all submissions were valid. It took me months to get to this amount. Hmmmmm Class action anyone?

I sent 5 requests for help in a week and they finally responded by deactivating my account and keeping the 360.00 that took me months to accumulate. They claim I tampered with a date on a receipt and I just crossed off the account number. So they can keep my money that is mine. How can I get my money back?
