HP's reputation is increasingly marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and product reliability issues. While some customers praise the quality and reliability of HP products, particularly laptops and printers, many express frustration over unresponsive support, complicated return processes, and inadequate troubleshooting assistance. Common complaints include lengthy wait times, ineffective repairs, and a perceived lack of care for long-term customers. This growing discontent suggests a need for HP to enhance its customer service approach and address product support challenges to retain customer loyalty and improve overall satisfaction.

Ordered on line because I was not in an IMMEDIATE NEED situation, just wanted a good price for a GOOD computer.
First I ordered in October was to be delivered before Thanksgiving, Order got delayed then on 11/30 I got an email quoting a revised SHIP DATE of 12/15! It also said I could cancel for full refund if I could not wait. I called and negotiated a discount instead of cancelling. Credit never appeared on my card, I called again today, 12/21- the day it was supposed to arrive, now they offer less than 1/2 what was initially promised and after 30 min Molly hung up on me. I waited well over an hour on hold each time.
Will be going Apple in the future.
They don't tell you your purchase will ship from China, then they screw up import documentation, it is impossible to get any customer support, and you never get your purchase, waiting over a month now.
Stay away!' After you pay, for them you are worthless piece of crab. Poor is an understatement for them. I wouldn't spent the time and effort to write this review if I'm moderately disappointed. It's way worst than that. The struggle is real. DO NOT BUY from them
I bought an Hp office jet printer at the end of August.
When I needed replacement ink I was told it had been recalled. Week after week it was due in but it never arrived. I spoke to many customers service folks and no one in the company seemed to care that I was having difficulty running my business printing. I will look to other companies in future for my office equipment. If the company is so indifferent about their customers they don't deserve my business.
So I order a PC for my son for Christmas on nov 30th. The site says the PC will ship on 12/10 and be received 12/16. I check the site on 12/11 and the PC hadn't been shipped. I call and it hadn't even been built yet. The rep tells me that it takes 2 to 3 weeks to build then 14 days to ship. So I wouldn't get it until some time in January. After 1 and a half hours on the phone with 4 different people. I get an email telling me my pc will arrive like Jan 12th. I canceled the order. Never got a cancelation email so I looked up the order on 12/14 and it didn't say it was canceled. I call and the say there was some complication canceling the order. They can't even cancel an order right.
Also I ordered a PC and ONLY A PC. They sent me these blue blocker sunglasses free. I didn't want them, didn't order them, and they were not listed anywhere on my order. When i canceled the order they tell me I have to return these glasses or be charged. Uh no! I pay for nothing and return nothing that I didn't order, didn't know was coming, and didn't want. That was a scam tears ago where companies would send you stuff then bill you when you didn't return it. HELL NO!
I had no idea about this until they ripped me off. They send these updates and in the updates they make it so that your Hp printer will not accept any other print cartridges then theirs with no way to reverse it. Then they charge an arm and a leg for their cartridges when they are the exact thing as the others. I'll never buy another HP printer. I'll go back to Cannon or Epsom.
I ordered this item (14t-dh200) and received an HP laptop yesterday. This laptop was the 14-dh1xxx model, which was NOT what I ordered. The specs and build of the laptop were so similar that it fooled even me at first. However, there was no fingerprint reader. I suspected that there was incorrect labeling of the laptop from the factory.
I called customer service, using the picture attached and the lack of a fingerprint reader as primary evidence among others. I spent 1 HOUR AND 39 MINUTES on the phone, only for the supervisor to tell me I was wrong. She even had the audacity to ask me to search on the HP laptop specs page for "fingerprint reader", which I did not find. What I discovered after was that none of the laptops on HP lists "fingerprint reader" on their specs page. When I pointed out the fingerprint reader in the product pictures, she told me the images aren't reliable. Remember that next time you think about buying from HP: their images aren't reliable. I am never purchasing from HP again.
After an entire hour of her wasting my time making me repeat myself and hundreds of different numbers, I asked for a simple return. She told me I'm paying 15% for restocking. Despite this being a defective order. I didn't know what to say. Just speculating that they intentionally brand older and unpopular laptops as new laptops for profit and to reduce excess inventory. Never wasting my time purchasing from HP again. Sticking with my Dell.
I have a 8035 HP printer (one year old). It takes the 910 cartridges and you need all 4 of them for the printer to work. HP does not have any and does not know when they will have any available. This is unacceptable for a company this size. I need these cartridges NOW. They have not had any for over a month. If they can't provide me with these cartridges, then they need to pay me the $150 needed to get the next comparable printer for me that I can purchase ink for.
I recently placed an order for an HP computer that promised 2-8 day delivery. After 2 weeks HP sends me a email saying my order is now delayed for 1 /1/2 months. I have always bought HP computers but this is a huge disappointment. To get through to customer service it took over an hour. After going from on agent to the next having to re explain every time they can only offer my 5% off. In the end I understand that there are supply chain issues in today's world but they need to own up and not advertise 2-8 days when in reality it's two months. HP need to be more upfront.
We have had horrible experiences with HP products and even worse with so-called "product support." Tried to get help on a supposedly top of their line computer that completely crashed after only a couple of months; the only reaction we could get was that it was a "throwaway" and they would do nothing to support the warranty. Bought HP replacement ink for an HP printer, the printer said it was defective. Spent about three hours on their online "support," and they agreed to replace it. This took two weeks, and they sent the wrong ink cartridge. Just spent another two hours on the phone with them, got shunted to five different departments, and was asked at least half a dozen times if I would please try to force the wrong ink cartridge into the printer. They are supposedly sending another replacement in another two weeks. We are never, never buying HP again.
On Oct 30,2020 I placed an order at HP.com for a new computer after I lost my previous computer in Hurricane Zeta. It took nearly a month before shipping after a delay. Once shipped, it took longer than it should have, after I paid for expedited shipping. Luckily, I received the $9.83 back since the computer clearly was not expedited as I paid. Unfortunately, though, the Fedex driver left my package on the side of my house in the rain rather than on my front covered porch. Upon opening it I noticed there was some moisture on the screen. I immediately contacted HP customer support. I want my computer, however, I paid for brand NEW, undamaged and simply want some type of compensation for this and now all these issues. I have been going back and forth with a customer service agent named Barbara who has been of no help at all. She first wanted pictures, which I totally get, but it was DAYS later before I got a response and that cardboard fell apart by them. So it was trashed. Now, nearly a week later, she wants photos of the computer screen... that has already had a chance to dry after I set it in rice. I was also told there would be a 15% restocking fee to return the DAMAGED item they sent. Again, I am happy to keep it. I need it for work. However, I do request a partial refund because I received a damaged item. Nobody was even home. The shipment said a signature would be required and gave the new delivery date. The conditions they left it out, if you looked up, would show it had been raining literally all day on the day it was delivered. So there was no excuse for Fedex to leave it out as they did. However, I, as the customer who paid $2,457.86 for this computer to be brand new and delivered in perfect condition, should be treated much better than this. Because of Fedex and HP's negligence I should be refunded some of my money back as I do not know what damage that moisture did or will cause any issues long term. Additionally, the customer service has been insulting and a joke to say the least.
Windows 10 and Microsoft 365 on latest HP computer are a nightmare. Support sucks. Programs crash and lock up. Spent 2 days trying to fix bugs but have to work through a maze of documents with no help. Sending it back.
Bought a £550 laptop 2 years ago for my son's GCSE years. Laptop already faulty and HP want £400 to fix! Customer Service appalling - rude and unhelpful. Do not buy a HP product. Wished I'd read up on their reviews first. You will regret your purchase. When children are already struggling with GCSE's, I'd have hoped for more support. Shame on HP!
2nd worst service I have ever experienced (and I am 81 yrs old).
Ordered a printhead on Oct. 26. Paid extra for expedited shipping, " typically arrives in 1 or 2 business days", because I needed the printer. Four days later, no part, I went on HP website to track it. Link to tracking leads to a blank error page. Next 3 days spent trying to get some support. Virtual chat agent kept sending me back to the blank error page. No other chat option, no email option, no phone option. Finally, on Monday I stumbled across a phone number for getting help with a new order. Called that number but she couldn't help with parts tracking. She was as helpful as she could be and, after pressing, she gave me an email address. I emailed to it. Next day received a reply that the issue was being sent to the parts dept. Next day, Nov. 4, Received an automated email from parts dept (do nnot reply to this email) saying sorry, we are now processing your order. Expected delivery to you is Nov. 16. HUH? Waht happened to expedited shipping? I emailed the first guy again but no response.
As with others, I am through with HP.
I cancelled my order on 7th and it took you 20 days to cancel my order? And now I got an email telling me that it will take 10-12 days for refund? I will wait for 4 days after that I am going to consumer court. And file case against you for giving me mental pressure and depression. I will demand compensation for this. You website says 5-7 business days for refund if amount is paid via debit card.
Its going to take 20 days + 15 days that's 35 days for refund?
FOR ANYONE WHO READING MY COMMENTS PLEASE DON'T BUY HP. I AM NOT SAYING THIS TO SHOWCASE MY ANGER BUT TO SAVE YOU FROM THE PAIN I AM GOING THROUGH. THEIR SERVICE IS PETHATIC! AND THEY ARE MISLEADING. INFORMATION ON WEBSITE WILL BE DIFFERENT THAN WHAT YOU WILL HERE FROM HP REPRESENTATIVE
HP pretends that it cares about the environment by allowing you to mail back your used toner cartridges at their expense. In reality, they make it completely impossible for you to print a mailing label in the hope that you will give up and just toss the cartridges in the trash, saving them the mailing costs. To simply print a mailing label, they make you jump through hoops --- creating an account and giving up personal info and even so at some point you'd still be stuck (what the heck is a customer ID and why do I need that just to mail back the cartridges?).
Once upon a time, HP made a great wireless printer. I opened the box, pulled out the printer, plugged it in, turned it on, plugged in my Rocketfish, an started printing. I could be in another room, send my document to the printer, and by the time I reached the printer, my document was done. I used that printer for years before it finally stopped.
A couple days ago, I bought a new "all-in-one" HP printer. After hours and hours of trying to get the thing set up to print, I have not yet been able to get one single page of something I needed to print out. I installed and uninstalled and reinstallef the HP Smart app. I tried the Wi-Fi Direct. I tried Bluetooth. I did the set up again and after several hours and attempts, finally got the printer to recognize my internet connection. I waited patiently for the setup to complete but it stalled on the IP address even though I could see the IP address on the touchscreen. After 30 minutes of waiting for the setup to recognize the IP address, I finally tapped "skip" and it then said the setup was complete. Wrong! The only printouts it has made have been the calibration sheet, the printer's email address, and the page that said it couldn't connect to the internet. When I tried to print the document I really needed, it didn't happen. When I even tried to print some of its own built-in forms, nothing happened. I tried to look things up online to see if I could get some trouble-shooting advice and the "help" topics suggested downloading a plug-in app, or a wi-fi direct app, or a couple other apps. I spent so many hours trying to get this to work with my smartphone that the charge on my phone went from 100% down to 4% before I had to give up. The worst part is that this printer is a "better" model than the one I really liked and used daily for several years. I am so upset and aggravated with this printer that I don't know if I will ever buy or recommend another HP product again.
HP is a scam everything about their products is a scam. I contacted customer service about their insta-ink program and they stated that unless I re-enroll I could not use the ink mailed to me and would have to go purchase ink from the store. WHAT! How people keep purchasing their products is beyond me. I will be buying a new printer and throwing this one in the trash!
I purchased a HP Chromebook in 2019 and also their 3 year warranty. We had a cracked screen, ONLY a cracked screen in early August 2020. Contacted HP for repair under the warranty. Found out they don't have any physical repair sites; you have to ship your computer to Grapevine TX. I did that, and filled out the form stating we ONLY have a cracked screen. When it was shipped back, to us (and repaired?) the Chromebook didn't turn on, had no audio, no ability to charge up, and no video. Promptly sent it back to Grapeview TX and its now been 2 weeks and they haven't even touched it. Can't get anyone to tell me what they are doing with it, or when/if it will ever be returned. I did find out they DO NOT do diagnostics on each computer. They also said that the Fed Ex truck broke it, but I have pictures that show not one scratch or dent. Will NEVER use them for a repair. My son starts school next week, and won't have a computer!
HP Customer Service does not seem to care about you. I had an issue with my laptop 8 months in, and when calling HP support, they told me that my warranty ended more than two months earlier than it actually did. When I asked them why they had that date, they told me Best buy doesn't always send them receipts. First of all, not my problem, thats a problem with your logistics department, do dont blame it on me. Luckily I had my receipt, otherwise they would not have helped me at all. The customer service associates I spoke to were rude, and didn't seem to care about me or how I was unemployed and unable to apply to jobs during a global pandemic. I have to pay rent, and they don't care. So many technical issues have persisted just from contacting me. HP hung up on me several times for no reason. Im never buying an HP again. They act so rude. Once they get your money, it doesn't see. Like they are going to help you at all. If it doesn't make sense, follow the money. And the money leads straight to their pockets because from what my research tells me, they cheat people out of their full warranties all the time, go ahead, google it. They've done nothing to resolve these discrepancies in warranties over the years. Get any other brand than HP, you will be much happier.
Answer: Impossible by phone since at least December 2023. ( May be before)
Answer: I'm old and remember the HP of 20 years ago. Boy has time changed this company.
Answer: Lenovo is similar to HP, though the performance of Lenovo's computers is complete crap, the upside to it is that they at least have good service.
