HP's reputation is increasingly marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and product reliability issues. While some customers praise the quality and reliability of HP products, particularly laptops and printers, many express frustration over unresponsive support, complicated return processes, and inadequate troubleshooting assistance. Common complaints include lengthy wait times, ineffective repairs, and a perceived lack of care for long-term customers. This growing discontent suggests a need for HP to enhance its customer service approach and address product support challenges to retain customer loyalty and improve overall satisfaction.

They will charge you restocking fees up to 15% even if you try to return on the same day and still unopened box,
Their customer service is absolute garbage. I am beyond disappointed in HP. They used to stand for quality. I have numerous laptops and a printer and after the two, most recent AWFUL HP experiences, I WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER purchase another HP product again! They now outsource their "customer service" to India and the Philippines. They keep getting information wrong, misinforming and transferring you to the WRONG department. I was on hold for an hour and fifteen minutes after getting transferred and no one EVER picked up. HP is a disgrace and a joke, now. Stay away from this brand.
I bought a laptop for my kid with a higher speed processor and nothing else. To make matters worse, when I realized it will take until July 20 I called to cancel. I talked to a "Walter" and then his supervisor "Lisa" who was unprofessional and even dared to say "let me educate you". Well, I have a grad degree in software engineering and even a patent (google it) and someone who does not even speak English properly dares to "educate me" is really ridiculous let alone helpful. Good Bye and I will make sure my member friends in my PTO as well as workplace know about my disappointed kid.
I wasted my money buying an hp laptop and cd adapter! Can't get any tech support without having to freakin pay for it! I'm going to sell these items and buy something else from people who GIVE A CRAP about their customers!
HP has truly slipped the wig since the 2020 Covid. Their Support no longer mans the website as my account still shows the same info from 2018, when I just bought and registered a new PC and printer this June. Their notifications still show the same lame warnings from 9 months ago. Its a waste of time using the lame Digital Assistant which will only bump you around to other 'support' options that are outdated, or plain do not work.
They USED to be tog dog...
I sent in my laptop 6 weeks ago for a 2 week repair (Broken hinge). I'm on customer support line right now with Rashid from India... again. Typically a call takes 20-30 minutes as they are juggling calls from many people at once. Yet I may as well be talking to my foot, because my foot is more responsive!
Last HP product I buy... ever!
I purchased a Pavilion Laptop computer. When it arrived, the keyboard did NOT light up. I called customer service and they alerted me that the computer model I bought did not have a "back lit" lighted keyboard. They kept trying to tell me I made a mistake but was on the site with them and kept pointing out that the specifications on my invoice clearly stated that the keyboard was lighted. Finally, they agreed to send me the correct computer. I should have just cancelled the order but had already paid. The computer took 1.5 months to arrive. When I got my credit card statement I saw an extra charge of $154 in addition to the price of the new computer. I called, and as you see on here - the customer service (if you can get someone) is one of the worst in any industry... especially for something as simple as an inquiry of this extra charge. On principle, I stuck with the call and kept trying over and over again to reach someone. Finally I reached someone and they told me "oh, the extra $154 charge was a 'restocking fee' since you 'returned' the first computer sent to me." Really? I explained to them, over and over, that the mistake was HP's mistake and that they sent the "wrong" model to me. They kept putting me on hold, for long periods at a time. Finally, they told me they would credit the $154 "restocking fee." Guess what? Yes, you are correct - they never, ever credited my account. I had to call at least 7 times and they kept up the same stance "we will credit the account." I even recorded the conversations and kept telling them I keep getting told the same thing but still has NOT been credited. I even tried my credit card company and they were unhelpful, too. They kept sending me the invoice telling me I DID in fact purchase a computer. I agreed that I did purchase a computer but that HP erred and sent me the wrong model. Still, I could not get any relief. I finally gave up and paid the $154 fee. I implore anyone reading this that the frustration and anger I felt is still evident today. I should have just gone to another company as computers are really commodities anyways - you are buying customer service and technical service/support when you purchase a computer. I had bought the computer in the fall and by the time I got the laptop it was around the holidays and New Years. I was so frustrated that my holiday was not as happy as it could have been, exacerbated by the covid pandemic to boot. Stay clear away from this company, HP. Also, I cancelled my credit card account and moved to another bank.
Purchased a business laptop for $1600 32 days ago which was supposed to be delivered 2 days ago. HP sent me an email extending the delivery date by a month and due to " unexpected supply constraints"!
Called HP and asked for either laptop or a refund but amazingly was told that I have to wait 4 days for them to decide either they want to refund my money and an additional 2 more days to refund it!
Meanwhile with the same "unexpected supply constraints" they have a sale going on...
This is one big fraud, also you pre-pay a laptop and they decide what will happen next. Extremely lousy customer service in the Philippines (even a manager lied to me regarding the status of my laptop).
This is not the HP we know and I would seriously not recommend buying from them.
God forbid you cannot figure out your problem on their web page and need to speak to a representative! To start with you have to go through several hoops inputting information, including serial number at least three times. Then they send you to another website, THEN after inputting same info again, you get a "case number". Then back to the website for phone contact. So far, I have been on hold for more than an hour, with 'please be patient, etc.' repeating every 60 seconds or so... my life in hp hell, just to get the scanner to work on printer. Like I don't have a life.
Our office purchased a brand new printer last year and have nothing but issues with it since the day it was delivered. HP refused to replace it. We have had their service partners come out on four separate occasions and not one has solved the issues with the printer. A couple of the techs agreed that HP should have replaced it, however they have submitted their reports and HP still refuses to do anything to remedy the situation. We will never purchase another HP product while I am with this company. The company lacks integrity and does not stand behind it's products.
I just purchased my son a laptop from hp. Com for what said $434.50 + tax (was about $464.00 with tax) when i entered by credit card info and hit enter; it billed for $506.00. I called to find out why and after being on hold about 15 minutes was told was a "flash sale" and in between me hitting enter the price changed.
Yet this is not the amount i agreed to nor did anyone office to honor the price i agreed to, I requested management and was put on hold over 45 minutes and never got anyone. Ended up doing a chat and was told the same crap of "was caught up in a price change in between hitting enter".
This is a good scam! I think they are hoping you don't see the price change or you just say forget it!
I'll never purchase from them again! Don't trust them!

I bought an HP Specter x360 and until December 2020 everything was fine then, a mandatory bios update arrived that made the computer unusable with my external monitor.
From that moment on, dozens of hours on the phone with their assistance, about fifty emails, I have been asked for all imaginable logs, driver combinations, "clean" windows installations, live linux distro and... Nothing, the computer does not chargee via Thunderbolt anymore! HP is aware of this, they knows it is a problem caused by Intel new fw code, there are other people online with the same problem but after 4 months they procrastinate.
Now they have also started to stop responding to emails because they do not want to proceed with the termination of the contract, as per my rights, since four months without reaching a solution are a period of days well beyond the reasonable time to solve the problem.
Not only the technical support don't answer anymore. In the latest two weeks commercial assistance, where my case has been transferred, don't call me back too. They promised a solution in the same afternoon when I spoke with them 10 days ago. Since that day, back to procrastination... Very poor support when there is a problem, caused by HP itself!
I had sent a laptop for warranty claim in December 2020, and now it is the end of March 2021, till now I did not receive the laptop back, every time their staff is making fake promises especially Shaima who is in charge of my case. Her 5 and 10 minutes never comes back.
I ordered a custom built laptop on Jan 22nd which the order said would ship Feb 17th. Seemed a little long, but I was willing to wait a few weeks. HP charged the full amount to my credit card at the time of the order. On Feb 18th, I get an email saying it has been delayed and now the shipping date is Apr 1st due to "a direct result of unexpected supply constraints". When I contacted customer service, they wouldn't guarantee the April 1st shipping date. I kept pushing and told them I wanted a credit or they could cancel the order. They offered $30, so I told them to just cancel it. I wasn't waiting another 6 weeks for the next shipping date and they wouldn't even guarantee that. Also, I went on their website and built again the same custom laptop which said it would ship Mar 22. Clearly they have no idea what they are doing. If they don't have the parts in stock to build a laptop at the time you order it, then they shouldn't be offering those parts to choose.
I consider the HP products to be an incredibly good and worthy investment because as time goes by, their products really stand out. The service is too very responsive and helpful!
If i had to buy a laptop or printer or whatever. I would checkout this brand in the first place!
I purchased a $1000 HP laptop thinking it would be a good investment for school. The laptop not only messed up 15 months later (despite never dropping it and it being in perfect condition, no viruses or anything of the sort), they are charging me ~$300 to fix their crappy laptop that messed up ON ITS OWN. I kept it in a case and everything. Charger randomly stopped working. No warning of over heating or anything. Yet I AM THE ONE SCREWED OVER, not just because of the cost, but they are taking 3 MONTHS to fix it. Yes you heard that right, 3 months. So this laptop messed up on its own, I cannot access any of the data, paying about $300 dollars, through no fault of my own AND they are taking 3 months to get it back to me. I have 15 months worth of school and professional data on there that I would be losing, but luckily have a friend in IT that helped me take the hardrive out, because HP also couldn't guarantee me that the data would still be there after sending it in. Luckily my friend did not charge me, but the material needed to download the data from the hardrive to another computer most certainly cost money and I wouldn't have to do it if they were taking 3 months to fix it... which still isn't even a guaranteed data that I will get it back by. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL EXPERIENCE, do NOT use HP products if you need something reliable. I do not want anyone else to go through the hassle that HP has caused me.
One of the worst customer service I had to deal with. They sent me my laptop with wrong configurations and so much hassle to correct their mistake. Their customer service do not even pick up the phone, over an hour waiting, and sales rep trying to sell me coverege telling insurance is handled by different department than the hp customer service so I should not be worried. What a joke!
Bunch of non professionals gathered together.
I am going to return HP laptop for the second time. A lot of annoying notifications like "Make Bing my default search provider", "Make Microsoft my homepage". Back off.
My laptop has a hardware problem and it has nothing to do with me. We called and they told us we can pay over half of what we paid for the computer originally or buy a new one. They told us "this is just how it is." I have only had this computer for a year and a few months and it already stopped working and won't turn on and they will do nothing to help. I am a college student and do not have the money to buy another laptop, but now I will have to since hp has no interest in helping me. Customer service is extremely poor and my family has owned many hp's and has had problems with most. I would not recommend this brand.
Purchased two laptop computers directly from HP. Computers shipped from CHINA. One came without an outer box and no packing materal. The thin rice box the computer came in was what it shipped in. That box was extremely damaged in transit so there is no way the computer is in good condition. Been trying for three days to get the computer replaced but no luck as no one is picking up the phone at HP except an automated system. The second computer has been in transit for two weeks so no telling how damaged it is. NEVER PURCHASE A COMPUTER FROM HP AGAIN>
Answer: Impossible by phone since at least December 2023. ( May be before)
Answer: I'm old and remember the HP of 20 years ago. Boy has time changed this company.
Answer: Lenovo is similar to HP, though the performance of Lenovo's computers is complete crap, the upside to it is that they at least have good service.
