HP's reputation is increasingly marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and product reliability issues. While some customers praise the quality and reliability of HP products, particularly laptops and printers, many express frustration over unresponsive support, complicated return processes, and inadequate troubleshooting assistance. Common complaints include lengthy wait times, ineffective repairs, and a perceived lack of care for long-term customers. This growing discontent suggests a need for HP to enhance its customer service approach and address product support challenges to retain customer loyalty and improve overall satisfaction.

I tried extremely hard to give HP the benefit of the doubt you know lack of employees these days could possibly hinder their services but I can't turn a blind eye on ignorance. I purchased a gaming PC through their site a week prior to Thanksgiving in hopes I wouldn't have to deal with the Black Friday cyber Monday shipping fiasco, boy was I sadly mistaken. My PC was shipped out on time which is why I will give them 1 star however FedEx lost it. I contacted HP customer support varies times din my wait for FedEx because I felt that maybe as the senders with a contract with FedEx perhaps they have more leeway on getting answers and whatnot, they did not. 5 days after the last scan of my package I called HP again and they transferred me to a "supervisor" I put this in quotes because there's no way a supervisor could have no answers. When I spoke to the supervisor she told me because the PC was out of stock she could give me a refund or the comparitive which wasnt even a gaming PC as the original. I asked her if I could get a discount in paying the difference to one that was actually similar to the one I ordered she said she would have to ask and get back to me in one to two business days I said I'd go on with the refund as theres nothing they care to do to keep a valued customer she said " an investigation in to your refund will take 1 to 2 business days and upon that completion you will be released a refund it will be credited back to your original form of payment and that will take however many days according to your bank" fine she gave me a ref# and I hung up. Long story short 1 week later I'm still calling HP, still haven't received my money, still seem to be being called a liar even though it is clear through FedEx I never received my package, and best of all I have spoken to 3 other supervisors that have no answers to my questions or any status updates it's no wonder the world is looking more and more like apple all's we need is for them to create a gaming PC cause HP is honestly rotten
I could not be more upset at this company. They're so bad. It took 3 days and getting hung up on or ghosted multiple times before I finally got someone answered through their website. I tried everything from the phone to Twitter to get someone to answer me and nothing. Twice someone answered asking how they could help and I'd answer and then nothing for hours. One of them answered 5 hours later at 1 in the morning. The worst part is that my question is simple. I bought an HP Spectre. The screen has a manufacturing problem and doesn't work right so I need to know how to send it in and get it replaced. 3 days and multiple people to answer that one question. The guy that finally did was horrible and I'm still not convinced he gets it. I kept telling him its a manufacturing problem and he's trying to say the screen has physical damage so the warranty won't cover it. 1. How would you be able to know that through a video showing only the screen? 2. It clearly isn't. He wants to say it'll cost like $600 to fix. I will not. I will buy a new laptop and never buy an HP again. I won't anyways but this is insane how bad they treat people. All just to send a faulty machine back and get it replaced. The dude through Twitter messaged me back once and then never again. Just literally never again. Than why ask? Why even answer if you have no intentions to actually help. Their site was down most of my time trying to use it so even if there were helpful people there I couldn't get to them anyway. The first guy I actually go ahold of wanted to do a bunch of preliminary stuff to make sure it was a manufacturing problem. First up, restart the computer. Ok that'll break the connection with the person I'm talking to. I asked how we will get that back after my computer restarts. He says he'll email me. Over an hour later he finally does and sends me to a website that didn't even work. I sent back an email saying that site didn't work and he never answered again. Nothing. He just wrote on the claim that it was solved. It most certainly was not. Its appalling how bad they are. I highly recommend never buying anything from this company. They are atrocious.
If zero star would be available that's the real mark for scamming experience of HP.com. Last year I had a big problem but finally in couple of weeks my order has been shipped. They took your online order along with charging 100% of payment. In few seconds you going to get "Your order declined" email, and no other actions are taking, no explanation of the reason, no money refund, nothing at all... In some period of time my call to HP.com gave me no clue of the reason to decline my order, they tell me refund will be done in 24-48 hrs but after 5 days I got nothing of my $1700 order and that supposed to be a gift to my son for special date. Never deal with HP.com again and going to dispute with consumer protection office.
Our HP PAVILION DESKTOP COMPUTER still under warranty (cost almost $1400) less than a year old and barely used do to my spouse having severe medical issues (all of 2021 so far) to this day a nurse still have to come in to assist. The computer started to update BIOS REPEATEDLY LOOPING. HP tech attempted to help walk me through to fix issue, but to no avail. Advised computer would need to be shipped in for service. Today I read a response from HP that there's a LCD CRACK. WHAT unbelievable. Now HP wants me to pay $300 more dollars to fix a LCD CRACK. How did this happen the computer was on a desk and never moved off desk till it had to be shipped to HP. THIS FEELS SO UNREAL AND UNFAIR if this damage is there, was caused in transit. Im given 2 choices proceed with repair info on how to enter my credit card info. 2nd choice reject repair. We will return product. Not fixing the one problem no fault of ours THE CONTINUOUS BIOS UPDATING. We have no other people in our home but the 2 of us. WE ARE BEEN CHEATED OUT OF $300 ON A PRACTICALLY UNUSED COMPUTER. NOTE THIS BIOS ISSUE IS NOT JUST AND ISSUE WITH US. I never felt comfortable with having a computer costing the above amount shipped to be repaired but was advise there was not a close Hp repair place near. NOTE I WAS TALKED INTO BUYING 2 YR EXTENDED WARRANTY & HP WANTS $300 for this added on unbelievable issue. WHAT A SCAM!
I have purchased a number of computers at HP online with no problem. I recently purchased an HP Chromebase from their online store. For a month it sat there with no tracking updates. After numerous attempts to find out what was going on I finally get an email saying the delivery will not be for at least another month if then. I tried to find out how to cancel my order and get my money back, HP takes payment prior to shipping unlike most other online retailers. You can't do that. You must wait for delivery then process a return within 4 days of delivery and then they take 15% of your money for restocking fee. So my computer is sitting someplace in China, I am sitting in West Texas and HP has taken the money and run with it. Last HP computer I will ever buy and I typically replace my computer every two years.
We will never but any hp products again. Our printer shot after a year and our 2 new laptops after 1-2 years are garbage. When you shut and open them the whole computer brakes apart and you have to push down to snap in place until it finally snaps and can't be used anymore and power quits. I was sent a survey from hp once asking about this problem but of course we never herd anything back from them because they would not admit this problem. Another thing... ITS MADE IN CHINA!
Had bought a HP OfficeJet printer in early 2020 which broke down shortly and was replaced with a new one a few months later. The newly replaced printer broke down again and so I contacted the call centre who opened a case and promised to follow-up but the next day closed the case with no reason.
I could not respond to their "do-not-reply" email and so reached out by phone and their WhatsApp number but ended up chatting with a chatbot which finally connected me to a live agent but the live agent acted like a chatbot and could not respond to my basic request to have the last agent who we spoke to call me back and that last agent had promised to call back with a solution anyway.
It seems clear after a while the live agent in the chatbot's objective was also to close the case after having "opened" the ticket request even when the issue had not been resolved at all. It's a terribly let-down and I do NOT recommend HP printer nor its lack of basic customer service!
Stay away from HP laptops. After buying a laptop (ENVY x360) and it breaking within 6 months of use due to a fault with the laptop it has been impossible to get any help from HP. I am now left with a broken laptop, that will cost me aprox £600 to fix. This is the first and last HP laptop I will ever buy, they do not care about their customers and I strongly advise everyone to stay away from HP laptops.
I bought this tope of the line HP Printer for home use. It has been nothing but trouble. I go to try to print something and no matter what I do I continue to get one error message after another. And their diagnostics never work. It is the worst printer I have ever own or used. I have so had it with HP and their products I am ready to throw this five hundred dollar printer in the garbage. I will never purchase another HP anything. Stay away from HP printers. I have one hundred dollar Epson which is simple but it works every time.
If I could give zero stars I would
If I could give zero stars I would. This is a horrible company from the tech support to customer service. The "Escalations Dept" was a nightmare. The women badgered me, refused to allow me to return a printer I literally just purchased and I spent hours on the phone trying to get a return label. Never deal with HP!
Hp wanted to charge me $50.00 to tell me my pin # i forgot... so i returned it to the store and bought a lenovo computer... best decision i could have made...
I bought a HP 8035 office Jet the printer is ok but beware if you use the information in the package and sign up for the free 3 months of ink. Then they hang you with having to buy ink from HP whether you need it not for a year for 25 a month. If you cancel the instant ink then your printer will not longer print using the ink you have. It will give you an error telling you to continue to pay and then cancel the print job. A complete POS. I use to swear by HP printers but never again
DO NOT BUY AN HP computer if you think you might EVER need assistance! If you have a brand new computer they will not honor their warranty and replace it - oh, they will fix it (4 days to get you a box to return it in) AFTER you spend 10 plus hours on the phone persuading them. How long will it take to fix? Over a month! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER - they pass you around from person to person, disconnect you, and read off of a script. It helps to know Spanish if you want to communicate with them.

I ordered a computer from them which I later requested for cancellation prior to it being built. HP refused to cancel it both through their live chat and email and shipped it anyways so I refused the package. It was returned to shipper and I still have not received my money all while having to open a dispute with my bank. HP is a terrible business with horrible customer service and logistics, if you want your money stolen then feel free to shop with them. They're also attempting to charge me extra for the return so it shows how dishonest they are.
I have two of these printers with the same issues. This printer will freeze when it is out of paper and will not recognize that it has paper when reloaded without a complete reboot, purge, and capacitor discharge. It's not worth buying.
If someone want to order laptop from HP better to read it before ordering.
I ordered, laptop from HP, 08:08: PM EST, May 14,2021 See screenshot below.
Shipping canceled 3 times and revised ship date.
I chat and called to company 100 times, during this time, wanted to change my order they said no. You can find information about changing and cancelling of order on the web site see (screen shot). But when you want to do it, the answer is NO.
There is no one to tell you true information. Persons who is chatting with you have no information or they don't want to give you true information. They update information on the web site 3-4 days after ship date.
It is unbelievable that the biggest technology company of USA treat their customers like that.
I have no experience with other companies, but I would not recommend you to order computer from HP.
I just bought an hp envy 6542e printer. Then found out that to set it up and use it, you will be required to connect to Microsoft Store. Nowhere on the box does it tell you this, only after you buy it and take it home to set it up and use it, do you find out about this. Little side note. I DO NOT USE MICROSOFT STORE. Or any other ms products, except of course for their included operating systems on the laptops i use. This is the first time i've ever encountered this forced colaboration w/ a company, a single company, no other download choices, no included CD to instal from, NO. You are forced to use ONLY, Microsoft Store to download the printer's software. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HP PRODUCT. And i've had hp stuff throughout the years since they started. Never again. How dare they force a single pipeline to the. Software, for a printer, that i bought from walmart, and can't use, because i don't have a microsoft store account. And never will.
After purchasing a HP 8024 Pro printer I could not get the test page to print, each time the paper would end up crumpled inside the printer. I took the printer apart to find a disgusting pair of cotton gloves, one rolled inside another, jammed into the paper tray of the new machine. The printer was completely sealed and boxed. The nature of the gloves being rolled inside each other means these did not come off by accident but were rather left in the machine by design or through negligence.
In any case I complained, hoping HP would see that this is unacceptable service and offer at the very least an explanation as to why this happened. Despite complaining by phone, email and whatsapp the company have not responded and frankly do not seem to care.
Having spend thousands with HP over the years this is incredibly disappointing and reflects their attitude to loyal customers.
Bill Hewllet & David Packard were great minds but they never expected a review like this about their prestigious company's product.
I bought a HP laptop in 2017, firstly going well. Then the touchpad started to fail some times, Bluetooth devices were unable to connect, shuts off on their own, USB ports stopped to work and charging didn't worked.
Sometimes I had to wake it up by unplugging and plugging the battery.
Frustrated by the $#*!, ripped it off. Now I need a laptop like hell but don't have money to buy one, thanks to HP.
Answer: Impossible by phone since at least December 2023. ( May be before)
Answer: I'm old and remember the HP of 20 years ago. Boy has time changed this company.
Answer: Lenovo is similar to HP, though the performance of Lenovo's computers is complete crap, the upside to it is that they at least have good service.
