This company is criminals and don't do what they say they're going to do! We booked a hotel room with them in New Orleans it got booked at the wrong area. We spent an hour and a half trying to get it changed only coming to the conclusion it couldn't be and we chose to part ways! The surprise came we got a $600 bill on our credit card for hotwire! We called customer service twice asking them to look into the matter! Both times they said they don't refund we said we understand that please listen to the tape and you can hear what your customer service said! They said they would get back to us they never did after spending many hours on the phone with them! We have gotten our credit card company involved! I don't know how a company can act this waywe own a small business and if we traded our customers this way we would be out of business! I am not a believer in writing bad reviews but when I can't even get a company to get back to me I have no choice!

That I paid for and tried to collect one trip when I got sick, and my physician told me NOT to travel. They act very sweet, but they kept putting the physician and me through the ringer, for a mere $108 refund. Finally, just contested it with VISA, with documentation & VISA reversed the charge. Never again will I use Hotwire, -- you've been forewarned...

If you are not set on a specific hotel, you can save some money, but sometimes it's not a lot and you can't modify your reservation very easily.

Terrible!
March 9, 2015

Used Hotwire to rent a car. The airlines cancelled my flight due to a mechanical problem so I called Hotwire to let them know that I still wanted the rental but I couldn't pickup the car until the next day. They charged me $240,00 to "change" my reservation. I will tell everyone I know to stay away from Hotwire! To make matters worse, their customer support (so called) is a joke.

Hot Wire sold us a room that was not there. Frustration, time and money spent trying to resolve the problem after paying again for another room. After numerous long distance calls ("Customer Relations" only take phone messages) they promised a refund. 8 days later it has not arrived and now they will not call me back! Better choices on the net. Do Not Use Hot Wire. You will be sorry if you do, probably sooner than later.

Car rental - fiasco
February 26, 2015

I used Hot-wire to book a car rental online.
I received the confirmation number.
I went to pick up the car, but the rental company did not have any cars left.
Who do you blame HotWire or National?
Either way, I did not get my car rental, and spent a lot of additional funds on taxi's.

Hotel was not bad, but not what it was touted to be when we bought a 'blind' hotel.

My basic problem is undisclosed "resort" fees. Like airlines, one would expect the hotels to be not forthcoming (unscrupulous) about all these additional fees. HOWEVER, I would also expect Hotwire to be on the consumers side and disclose the additional MANDATORY fees in their price listings... that is not the case. Not only does Hotwire not disclose the fees, the won't allow you to mention the fees in the reviews on their website. So they are clearly in the pocket of the vendors they represent. So that's the first and last time I use Hotwire.

Recently booked a hotel in Nashville, thought I was staying in a 3 Star hotel that compared to hotels with rates of $299 a night advertising 73% off, Instead I was in a hotel in one of the worst areas in Nashville, walk in rate was $114, in NO way did this hotel compare to Hyatts, Sheratons, Marriotts etc... was a secret rate deal for $107.00 a night, A F*&^%$%^ing joke
Red roof inn was nicer! STAY AWAY, everything is inflated to give the "perception" of savings and a deal... never deal with Hotwire again!

My son used a Discover card I gave him to hold a car rental. When he picked up the car, he was charged on his personal credit card. However, the charge on my Discover was not refunded. I called them to try to resolve the issue but could not talk to a person and was left on hold for 1/2 hour. Ridiculous waste of my time. I am disputing the charge on Discover since they are more reasonable to deal with for sure.

Hotwire runs a scam for car rental, where their computer system quotes a price then on the next screenshot raises it a few dollars figuring the the customer will just pay. Its only a couple bucks a day. If you check again from another computer the first lower rate will likely remain. Continually checking from the the same computer will result in a higher price.(their system can see your computer or smartphone's cookies) I recommend checking prices with hotwire as a reference and the maybe try somebody else like priceline to beat their price. Their customer service is awful and in the Philippines or something.

I can't even give hotwire 1 star for their customer service. But I will give them a 5 plus star for taking your money when the reservation is made. I booked 4 rooms in Oregon and when I arrived hotel didn't have any rooms and when I called hotwire customer service the representative was rude offered no help in finding another hotel and told me it was my problem! I will never use hotwire for any type of business and I suggest to stay away from hotwire!

SCAM/Fraud!
October 10, 2014

SCAM/Fraud! Their low rates are a scam. Hotel Regular Price $120. Hotwire Price: 98 + Taxes(not included) + 42% (discount) = 136.00 that I paid. Should have booked through the hotel.

Hotel Rated on Hotwire: 3 stars
Hotel Rated on every other website out there: 2 1/2 stars

Can you say fraud?

Hotwire.com is such a ripoff. I paid 7160 swedish crowns for 5 people, 2 hotel rooms. When I found out what hotel i got i saw that the price for it in booking.com only was about 4000 crowns i logged on to their webpage and sent an email and questioned the price. Now, 6 days later i still haven't got an reply I sent another email, thru my email-adress and got a reply to call them. When i called Hotwire they said that the 48-hours price guarantee was over and that there was nothing they could do. I explained that i contacted them thru email maybe 20 minutes after i found out what hotel i got but still they refused to help me. So thanks to hotwire.com i ended up paying more than 3000 swedish crowns for a hotel room. Its awful they way they handle this. This is no way to treat customers. I will never again use Hotwire and I wanna warn everybody for paying overprice and not getting help afterwards. The prices isn't low, the quality and service is low! // *******@gmail.com
