We monitor reviews for authenticity
We are reputable moteliers who pride themselves on offering comfortable, clean rooms at reasonable rates. Hotwire undercuts our rates and leaves us with no working profit, without consulting us. We have no contractual relationship with Hotwire. Consequently, we have decided not to honour bookings from Hotwire, since they will be the only ones making money from the transaction. Guests will be turned away and, unfortunately, need to find alternate accommodation. This is not a decision we take lightly but the alternative is working for places like Hotwire until we enter receivership
My husband and two small children were trying to book a hotel room while on vacation in California and using the Hotwire mobile site It was very misleading when it redirects to something called "Hotrate". I was shown I was booking a hotel in Calabasas area but when I finished booking I received an email we were in Camarillo 50 miles from where we were and at a dump hotel. I called customer service and after 28 min on hold I received a textbook reply from a customer rep. Refusing any changes and very rude. We decided to drive the hour up to the hotel because we didn't want to be out of the money. We got to the hotel and were booked for a SMOKING room... With a baby and a toddler! The hotel said they could not change anything and that we must call Hotwire back. Well after 55 MINUTES on hold and a total of 2 hours talking on the phone we were told there were no refunds but we could rebook at a higher priced hotel and pay more. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE. Please go elsewhere for travel and lodging... This company should not be in business.
This was my first and last experience with Hotwire. Hotwire advertised a Hot Rate Hotel. I needed 2 rooms so I needed to call customer service to book the room. In the description of the hotel and room it stated the room had a kitchenette.
Upon booking the room I specifically asked the booking agent about the kitchenette. We discussed it was more than a small frig and a microwave. He assured me it had a stove, frig, microwave and was a full kitchenette.
We discussed this further, as I enquired if the hotel had breakfast. It did not. Therefore a kitchenette was important, as we where traveling with children. I booked the hotel and immediately received confirmation. I looked up the hotel and the rooms only have a frig and a very very small microwave. I dialed Hotwire immediately. I was put on hold for 35 minutes. I hung up and dialed again. The girl, Abby rudely explained I had lost my place in the que because I hung up and would have to wait again for customer service. I waited again 25 minutes longer.
I called another number and was offered to receive a call back. When Mary from the Philippians returned my call she called the hotel and confirmed that the room had a frig and microwave. However, they would supply a hot plate if needed. I do not consider a hot plate a kitchenette at all. There are not plates, utensils or any other items related to a kitchen in this room.
The remedy Mary offered was that upon check-in if we didn't get a room with a kitchenette, we should call Hotwire and they would find us a room with a kitchen. This is not a good solution. We don't in until 9:00 at night with 2 small children. I don't feel it is an adequate solution. We are scheduling this room a month in advance-therefore, we should know if we are getting a kitchenette or not. I was CLEAR with the booking agent as to what I qualified as a kitchenette.
I want a refund and will book with Priceline, as I always get what I want with them
Hotel was in the wrong destination... Representatives and supervisors are rude and helpless. I called them right away right after I saw where my hotel was located. It was 45 mins away from Seaworld. Wanted to change hotels but they were no help. Do yourself a favor and go with another website!
I booked a hotel reservation through hotwire.com and when I got to the hotel they say my reservation was cancelled and these thieves still charged my card and when I try calling customer service they keep directing my call and putting me on hold I'm out $412.00 PLEASE DON'T BOOKED HERE
These guys are the worse. I made a car rental reservation never received confirmation. I called back to get 1 they dont have my reservation but charged my credit card anyway. After talking to few reps and even supervisor still nothing. How do you charge my card dont have my name in system. I faxed bank statement to research team it says 7-10 days i am out that money until bank can reverse. I will never use these people again they are scum
Hello my name is ibett hernandez. And I booked a hotel from April 20,2016 and April 21,2016 and I canceled 24 hours beforethe day was over because I had some personal problems and I tryed to communicate with them and yet they took my money from my account. And they assured me that my mone would be returned... then today July 25,2016 came and they have yet given me my money back, for an amount of 399 $. And now they asked for a medical certificate and this is why... I WILL NEVER CONTACT HOTWIRE AGAIN... that was the money from my daughter who just graduated from high school and now I can not schedule another vacation because it has my money fom a week worth of work.
I tried to make a purchase for two hotel rooms.
When i completed the payment (via Paypal) the website informed me there was an error, and I didn't get any confirmation, HOWEVER, despite the fact that there was no transaction, Hotwire did out a hold on my Paypal account.
I then called your customer service. The representative (who was FAR from being helpful and courteous) informed me that it was a glitch on your system that had an issue contacting hotels and that THERE WAS NO CONFIRMATION AND YET I NEED TO CALL PAYPAL TO GET MY MONEY BACK (!).
I then spoke with PayPal who informed me that only Hotwire can free the authorization on my money.
PayPal sent Hotwire a notice but they ignored. I keep contacting them and keep getting the same useless canned response (more or less "call us so we can explain our policies").
I've also submitted a BBB complaint and they don't respond.
As of this moment (10 days after) they are still UNLAWFULLY holding my money for services they didn't provide.
I booked my honeymoon to Florida but unfortunately I broke my ankle and couldn't fly there. I checked with my holiday insurance who said I could claim with them all I needed was a confirmation of cancelled travel from my company. After many hours and numerous phone calls and emails they still haven't cancelled the holiday or sent the required information. Very poor customer service, I have been left on hold for over 1hour on two occasions. Will never use again.
My fiancé and I have annual passes to Universal Studios, Florida. We live decently close, about a five hour drive on a straight stretch with stops, so we go pretty often. For a while we would drive out every weekend.
We have no difficulty budgeting food and gas money and even spending money, but it seems that just about every time we planned short for the hotel. Paying 150 dollars a night really adds up and dipped into our funds.
I downloaded the hot wire app while stranded at an IHOP at 3 am, and within five minutes we had a booked hotel 3 miles from our current location: only 100 dollars for the next three nights. The deals are amazing and the website and app are both fast and ridulously easy to use. I recommend using your location as soon as you log on, you'll be amazed at how quickly you can book a hotel just about anywhere based on the amount you can afford.
The site misleads you into making a "reservation" but will not allow any cancellation despite several days advanced warning. TERRIBLE customer service, past around with no care of customer. This site aims to scam for short term gain- no desire to take care of the customer. Sad- beware!
I am trying to reach customer service to cancel my reservation for the past 90 minutes. Never experienced such a service before.
For years I swore by Hotwire. I saved thousands of dollars booking with them last minute. Yeah not knowing the hotel is frustrating sometimes but the savings was worth it. I decided to stop using Hotwire because I realized they have no loyalty or accountability to customers, and their business model relies on duping hapless travelers into deals. My last straw is when the hotel I booked thorough Hotwire had no rooms after I arrived and Hotwire was unable to do anything to help me. I spent the night stranded in a hotel lobby, despite bringing tens of thousands of dollars per year to the company. And there was no accountability or recourse. It's just not worth it. You are dirt to them.
By far gives me the cheapest results for all inclusive vacations.
Here is a youtube video I put together to warn others about hotwire.com. Their customer service is horrible! Although I used to book EVERY vacation hotel with them, I am done. I have deleted the app from my phone and will never patronize their business ever again. Oh, and also I have done my research and will not patronize any of their subsidiaries either. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gorkdKsFS7U
I get GREAT deals on Hotwire sometimes. The trick is to look on the google map they show you and see the EXACT streets/area where the "secret" hotel is... then click over to the search that SHOWS the names/areas of the hotels (the section with the higher prices because it's showing you the hotel names)... zoom onto the same exact area and compare which hotels are which.
You can usually almost pinpoint exactly which hotel it is w/the price you were interested in.
The taxes and fees can be high at final checkout, so make sure you call the hotel directly if you can figure out which one it is and get a price from them first.
I booked a rental car 4 days in advance and my travel plans got cancelled. Hotwire keeps your money even though you dont even see or pick up the car you reserved. Customer service is a joke, they are rude and barely speak english. Stay away from this company, I run a company with frequent travel and hotwire will never be used by my company!
Tried to get refund on a "boutique" hotel stay because almost everything in my room was broken, it was a holiday and I couldn't get them to move my things to a different room.
Answer: In my case it was only when I convinced a Hotwire customer service representative that I needed to speak to her supervisor that I got any "service."
Answer: Phone the hotel to confirm your booking at the rate you paid. Make sure you get the name of the person you talk to and maybe have him send you an E Mail confirmation.
Answer: They can't. For me it's $1400 (more characters to post answer)
Answer: Pay for it then you'll know. Don't book through these people. Read the reviews. I'm still upset with myself for paying lots more than I could have gotten it directly from the Hotel itself. There is no customer service.
Answer: No. I didn't see Richards Hotel on the list. Having said that I've never been to Richard's Hotel it could be great. They just don't show it as one of them. Be kind to yourself read the reviews and stay away
Answer: Never share your credit card info... they double bill you
