We have an agreement with Reliance Home Comfort Protection Plan 24-hour since 2007. They are committed to providing outstanding furnace heating and cooling, repair and maintenance, Ecobee smart thermostat wiring furnace, and a hot water tank service. Their goal is the same as ours: to get the heat or cooling turned back on fast. First I talked to a very knowledgeable representative at Ecobee, similar to the Nest thermostat. The problem. We could not get the fan started without having the heat on. We had a missing wire going from the furnace to the thermostat upstairs. I immediately booked my appointment with Reliance under my home comfort protection plan to do a scheduled repair the next day. Resolution completed. John from Reliance was very knowledgeable and removed the fast-stat and installed a new 5 wire from the smart Ecobee thermostat upstairs to the furnace in the basement. He did not hesitate to call a co-worker to discuss the diagram of the Ecobee smart thermostat which I like to see because it tells me that the rep cares to fix the problem. He diligently disconnected the thermostat, removed the baseboard in the dining room to create hidden access to run the new wire from the main floor to the furnace in the utility basement. He did a clean job! So nothing a little silicone on the trim can't fix. The fan is now running and we programmed it for 30 minutes an hour. I'm 100% satisfied with the service they provided. I was scammed out of $600 for a painting service and when I tried to post my review they rejected it. I called their customer support and exchanged multiple emails with them and they stated they would not allow me to post a "harmful" review to the company... despite the company being fake. I was trying to help future customers avoid the scam and homestars did not care.
I spoke to Olivia on the phone who I told to call me back in a few hours as I was busy. When she called me back I respectfully answered instead of ignoring the call so I could tell her that I was not interested at this time. She instantly got angry and started giving attitude towards my decision, she said "wow so your not looking for more business? Ok we have clients looking for contractors and you dont want them ok whatever fine!" I kept my cool and continued to apologize and tell her I was not interested at this time, she would not take no for an answer and continued with rude comments.
Would NEVER consider this company in the future
We signed onto Homestars in January of 2021 with the expectation that the platform would be relevant and beneficial to our provided services as a company on the platform.
We spoke with Sam Ghazi and Aisling Turley for our initial sales discussion to determine the suitability of the platform for our business. These two representatives described and provided examples of other businesses using the platform and their apparent success in the same field of work. However, this proved to be far from the case in reality during our 4 months on the platform from January to April.
We received a total of (1) leads related to the actual service that we provide. Please note, that the issue was not that we were not receiving leads but that virtually all leads received were NOT SPECIFIC TO OUR PRIMARY SERVICE. Which was the whole point of using the platform.
We should have read reviews by other BUSINESSES who have used the platform as many others here have negatively reported. The sales representatives behave like the nicest people on the planet but in reality, are relentless in trying to illegitimately squeeze every penny however unethical from you once you sign on.
I have requested to cancel services ending the month of April and they continue to charge our Credit Card. THEY ARE FORCING US TO PAY THEIR CANCELLATION FEES.
Please do your business a favour and DO NOT SIGN WITH HOMESTARS. If you spend the same amount on any other form of advertising you will reap a much greater return.
If we treated customers like Homestars does, we would have been out of business 15 years ago.
Spent hours with customer service. They do not permit negative reviews. We rated a company 4, and they gave us the fifth degree. We provided then with pictures but it was a cash deal. What a fraud website. Never again.
I joined homestars 3.5 months ago. When speaking to the sales rep. (Norman) I explained that I was looking for quality leads for bigger home renovation projects that i could lead as GC. He ensured me that homestars could deliver such leads in abundance (100+ leads per year with a 50% success rate). Since joining I have only received 6 leads one being today (which I believe to be fake, sent by HS) and they were all jobs I specifically explained i did not want sent to me (tiny handyman jobs). When trying to cancel my subscription, they totally ignored what i was requesting. I reached out to my rep. (Kelly) and was emailed by someone else (Apoorva) who informed me that it was her that I needed to speak to in order to cancel. When I finally got her on the phone, she just tried to keep me from cancelling with all the same BS promises i heard before. When she realized that i was not going to be persuaded into staying, she informed me that i had to speak with someone from a different department and that they would call me the following week, which they didn't and still haven't. So $315 per month for 3 months ($945) plus the cancellation fee of 35% of the amount remaining ($992.25) equals $1937. 25 for absolutely nothing at all. PROMISES YOU THE WORLD ONLY TO DELIVER EXCUSES!

We trusted them when they contacted us and promised that there will be a return on the 250$ a month investment
It turned out that my opinion on Homestars before I signed with them was correct
Don't get fooled by their possible traffic in big cities like Toronto
I am from BC and in our area they have nothing related to our industry
The 250$ a month is a pure waste of money because you really get nothing in return.
They chain you with a 1 year contract like all the crooks that have no real product that can speak for themselves and there is no need to chain people if you offer a product that really useful and bring some benefits to your business
Only a company that ran by crooks can jail their customers on a yearly contract and that's because they represent something that not really worth this money
SHAME ON YOU!

I'm a contractor that worked diligently for four years with HomeStars collecting reviews, all of which were positive, I have a friend who is also a contractor, he told me he was upset that he had been given a negative review, two days later said negative review was removed, he paid to have this removed, I left HomeStars the next day
This company doesn't stop calling and arrassing me to join there membership. As per all bad reviews I saw across the internet, I made it clear to them about 5 times to stop calling and that I will not join the membership for additionnal business. Again today they called me! I dont like writing bad reviews but they have taken this too far. When a contractor doesnt want to join your scam and tell's you to stop calling, you need to listen!
I ordered 2 windows and one sliding glass doors from Nordik Windows and Doors and it was installed February 12,2021. The installers had to work thru minus 13 weather. The installers name was Harris and with his helper laid down floor coverings and were quick to remove and install one at a time and made every effort to minimize the temperature inside the house from being uncomfortable. Installer Harris answered all questions and cleaned up everything after they had completed the installation.
We got rid of this company a few years ago for having no accountability for reviews. Ever since we have received multiple calls from them to get back on board. We're not interested in a platform that has no accountability, and charges x4 to x5 times the competitions annual fees, we put in too much hard work in the field, we want to be represented correctly and accurately and heard as business owners when there are legitimate concerns"
I felt compelled to write this review after a very pushy phone call from one of the reps today.

I closed 2 contracts in a 12 month period not worth the money and I told them to cancel my account and there not cancelling it's almost 2 months from when I told them to cancel please stay away
All the reviews are false. They are greatly influenced by the people who they reviewed. I have had roofers from them who were absolutely terrible( All start roofing) on there site they said they were the best but when I told them after the work was done that they had done a really bad job they basically said they don't recommend companies and it's not there problem. Don't use this site
Well let's see I was promised 3 leads a week I have signed a contract and I had a crazy customer that posted a bad review and said it was my company that did the work and the customer said he paid 2500. Which was bull $#*!. I only installed 1 zone and I have pictures to prove before and after and the invoice I sent it to home Stars and they can't do nothing. Well I give up no leads, no work but their payment comes out every month.

I have been reading Homestar's reviews on various services for years prior to hiring anyone and have come to the conclusion that they mostly only print positive reviews and ignore the negative ones as they accept payment from these suppliers. Hired a roofing contractor a few years back which had 100% positive reviews on Homestar. Ended with a disaster installation. Seemed that other contractors I had hired were very well aware of the dismal reputation that the roofing contractor had within the construction trades. Recently placed a negative review regarding a kitchen refinishing company which only stated facts. Was not printed.
Hi, invoice # ******* was much higher than expected. The call back was for a bbq issue, the service person Craig, did a furnace check (which had been done), a fireplace check and he replaced the BBQ outlet. I was told that I would be paying only for parts but was billed for all the above. We are not happy about the bill.
Concrete Replacement Experts did an excellent job on my driveway. They removed the old eroded concrete and poured new concrete in a very short period of time. I am very happy with their work. They also did did a great clean up after the job was done. Kudos to Rick and the crew. I would recommend CRE to anyone who is considering a concrete project. Wade was easy to talk to and gave me a very reasonable estimate for the job.
Answer: How is it that I stop getting leads and my payment still goes through, and I show prove of work and the bad review is still on
