The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Great information and suggestions for projects. Listing professionals. But bad about not getting back to customers when having a issue with your app.
3 TV set with the brackets for wall mount. TV where 50,60, and 85"
Had an overnight emergency. Allen was out first thing in the morning and completed the work in 6 hours.
I scheduled a simple holiday light set up at the end of November. The appointment had to be rescheduled 4 times in 2 weeks because they couldn't get a contractor to show up. I was told by their offshore reps that Home Advisor has no control over any contractor they book for an appointment - Contractors can pick and choose whether they want to do a job at any point. So 4 separate appointments, 4 seperate NO call No shows. ON TOP of all this, knowing full well I never received service ( I called them immediately when the first contractor didn't show) - they still charged me and tried to hide it. WORST of ALL, my lights and clips were stolen while waiting for the 4th contractor to actually show up.
This is easily the WORST service I've ever experienced on an online platform. Home Advisor reps I've spoken to are completely ignorant to what they're offering and WILL charge you once they get your credit card number. HOME ADVISOR AND ANGIE'S LIST IS A SCAM!
They sent out quotes to companies I picked from theer data base. The companies O picked contacted me to schedule a quote
Owner was awesome did what he said he would do
Perfect
Easy way to get bids and actually find people that are interested in doing the work
This was a TOWER washer dryer by LG. No One wanted to convert the natural gas to propane on this tower. With HomeAdvisors help I found Pohaku Appliance Repair. They charged $150 plus 56 cents a mile. They were on time. Very professional and helpful, pointed out some things that are helpful.
It was very easy to get contacted for quotes. Once a company was decided on, the work commenced the next day and was completed the same day. Thank you.
Was very happy with the man that I hired. But was overwhelmed with phone calls from people that had nothing to do with my projects
Efficient and easy to navigate. I used the site for my tv mounting service and have no complaints.
Home advisor contacted me via phone regarding an inquiry about hanging Christmas lights from the gutters and shingles on my house. They quoted the price as the total square footage of the house even though it was only 160 linear feet. It was a simple job that takes myself about 3 hrs but do to my work schedule and family commitments I could not find the time to complete the job this year. It's a ranch home so a mid-size extension ladder was all the pro needed. I purchased brand new lights, clips, etc... I had my father planned to meet the contractor who took the job at 10AM at my house. I received multiple text messages and e-mail's that morning with reminders about the date and time. The price Home Advisor planned to charge me was $342 which shocked me but it I had no other options and the kids were excited expecting Christmas lights when they got home. My father who had a doctor appointment at 10:45 called me at 10:20 to say the contractor never showed up. I called Home Advisors customer service number and did not get to speak with anyone until 10:30. I explained what happened and wanted to give me the number to call the contractor which I declined since I was running late for a meeting and felt this was Home Advisors job since they were the company responsible for the hiring if a qualified contractor. They said they could get someone out on Sunday (2 days later) and offered $10 off. I declined and will NEVER use them again. No charge since there was no service performed but the time spent by my father waiting and my time on the phone are worth more than $10. Pathetic in every way.
I tried to book a holiday light installation. I purchased fixed price services and tried to cancel several times but website said there was no project to cancel. A contractor contacted me and I explained I no longer wanted the service. He cancelled the service in the app and I checked and again there were no projects requiring cancellation in my account. Was texted the day of the appointment that I no longer wanted by HomeAdvisor and so I called to explain the cancellation. The guy they hired for the project only 2 days before appointment could not be reached because his number was not in service. I was charged for services I did not get after being assured I would not be charged. DO NOT BOOK FIXED PRICE SERVICES! They clearly do not screen their contractors and they do not take your calls and they do not provide good customer services. They were going to send some joker to my family home and even when the guy didn't show up, they still charged me! DO NOT USE HomeAdvisor! I am still waiting for a refund of my money but so far I have only been given the run around!
My husband got online and our prayers were answered instantly! Theresa was able to come out the same day! They did a great job and we'll be using them weekly!
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
