The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Very prompt and professional. Website even followed up after booking and completion.
My experience was excellent. I will definitely use this site again.
I needed to have a broken window frame fixed, and I quickly found several able technicians through Home Advisor. The consultant was very professional, polite, and helpful. She took the time to find out what the problem was and connected me with several contractors in the area where the service needed to be done. They all responded in a prompt manner and offered competitive service rates. If I need any other work to be done in my condo, I will get in touch with this company again.
I think that for the people who are signed up as service providers on your site, it's a wonderful app. It's aggressive in making quick contact with customers. From my point of view though, it was a bit too aggressive. I had barely completed my entry/registration when I began receiving texts and phone calls. I would rather choose who I want to speak to (because their offer is worth following up on) than to have to go through the same conversation with multiple people, most of who don't fit all my needs. I would rather have been able to visit each service provider's site and select the ones who met my needs based on reviews, location and price instead of being bombarded. That would cause me to hesitate to use the app in the future.
Angie list helped me fine the best resource for my job.
I had a unexpectedly great experience. Three companies were assigned to my Furnace problem. One scheduled an appointment via a automated call for two days ahead, one called me to find out the problem and offered to come the same evening, and the last one popped up for to request a quote. I ultimately took the guy that came the same evening.
Matched us with a gentleman to do tuck-pointing and brick foundation work, which is not easy to find! The referral was great and we are very pleased with the services we received.
I had a sliding glass door that wouldn't open. This has happened in the past and the rollers needed to be replaced then. When I was on the website I could not find where to get a list of contractors so I could contact them myself. So I went with HomeAdvisor choosing the contractor for me because I need the ramp that is outside the door. They charged $398 which I agreed to because I thought parts would be needed. Two contractors came out, adjusted two screws, were here for maybe 30 minutes and that cost me almost $400! I really feel like I got ripped off. I know that I was the one who agreed but couldn't they have charged a fair amount and not the entire thing. I also never received a receipt for the work. I'll never use HomeAdvisor again.
I tried to get a couple of companies to come out and give us quotes to repair fences blown down by 100mph winds. When you call you get someone who sounds like their reading off a script and has no idea what your talking about. They make an appointment with you for a time and someone else calls up with a different time than you were given, after that you get calls that tell you they won't come out unless you spend at least $3000. Their other problem is if you have a dividing fence they wont come out unless both sides will be there. It only takes one side to be there to collect the quotes so both sides can sit down and go over the best one. For some reason they want both there so they can try to force the job right away, myself and my neighbor already agreed that I would get the quotes for her and myself because she was taking care of her husband who has covid. What I am finding is these companies have extremely poor business practices and customer service. I am a business owner myself and if I ran my business the way they do I wouldn't have customers. I am extremely disappointed with the Home Advisor site and I strongly think they should vet the companies they work with better. Customer service should be a number one priority for Home Advisor and the companies they work with. You do what it takes to make the customer happy! If you don't have customer service, close your doors!
Even after I hired someone for my job, I kept getting calls and emails.
I did find a great guy to do the job for me though so thank you for that!
I went onto HomeAdvisor to look for a sliding glass door repair man and on a Sunday received calls from two companies!
The door was fixed the next day!
HomeAdvisor was great!
Very fast response. I have used this Servives in the past and am very satisfied with service providers.
Nick worked hard. He completed requested work even through extreme cold weather.
Many emails, very few quote requests answered. No ability to quickly and easily follow up on pros recommended for added evaluations or new requests. Follow up emails wth new quote invite don't work!
Very satisfied with Sludge Busters the company that fixed my problem.
Got a good company way to many phone calls and emails from Angie's list
Told them to stop at least 5 times
We bought a rental property in another state and signed up for homeadvisor.com. Shortly thereafter, we signed up with a property manager and no longer required homeadvisor.com. We contacted them to cancel and hopefully refund our membership fee. A year later, a charge shows up on our credit card, for annual membership. We received no notice that the charge was coming and did not authorize such. Contacted their help center who only directed us to another call center with long waits. They made if VERY difficult to cancel and receive a credit. I am very disappointed in the service.
Great to have recommendations. Makes life so much easier.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
