While we were very pleased with Burke Roofing Services, the barrage of phone calls from other companies from out-of-state (Pennsylvania surprisingly!) was more than a little annoying. Thankfully those calls stopped after a few days but I hesitate to go through that again. If I did not need my phone for regular usage, I would have turned it off. So, I would rate my experience with HomeAdvisor as mixed. We thought, perhaps erroneously, that we contacted Burke and a few other companies directly... not through HomeAdvisor. So it is possible that we initiated this ourselves. Either way, we will be more wary in the future.

I made an appointment almost a month in advance. I was specific about the scope of the job. A representative called me to confirm the service Tuesday and told me to expect Carlos B. Friday. After waiting an hour Friday, I found out that Carlos was not coming, but Anthony B. Was coming. This was an hour after I expected their "professional". I called the company since I was told there was 24/7 service. I got someone off shore and the connection was terrible. Either he hung up on me, or the call was lost. I called again and got a woman, slightly better connection, but still terrible. I asked where she was located and she said "off shore" with no further details. Couldn't seem to understand that I was on Central time and the "professional" was an hour late. I was told my provider was Antony and given a phone number to contact the person. She offered me a $10 credit for my inconvenience. I tried to call the provider to see when the person would arrive. The individual hung up on me. I never got another call or any apology. I recieved a satisfaction survey. My response was a 1, because 0 for NO SHOW was not an option. Not nice to not show up on a Friday before a holiday weekend with no tiime to clean before the holiday. I expected much better from Angie/Home Advisor.
I moved house and needed my treadmill disassembling, moving upstairs and the reassembling.
First people Angi sent turned up and said they would not be able to do it. After a few calls, Angi sent someone else who did a great job, and then they have followed up twice to ensure the work was performed to my satisfaction.

Dock Wickham from Streamline came to my home when he said he would, he quickly and efficiently diagnosed the problem with my irrigation system, successfully and skillfully repaired the probllem. He charged a fair price but he is worth so much more!

Called once to have an estimate to dethatch my lawn. Gave me a price without even looking at the job. I canceled my estimate, it's been Non stop calls since. They're worse then the extended car warrantee scam callers.
The contractor was great but...
Since going on Angi, I have gotten dozens of emails (sometimes 8/day) from Angi as well as others wanting to fix everything I own. I think they would take out my appendix if they could. From now on I stick with personal referrals.
Now that the project is done, they are all going to spam.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
