The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

I needed the inside of my small 2 bedroom home painted quickly. I found approx. 5 painters on Angies list. After screening them... getting their quotes and calling 3 references I went with Talavera Painting. They were fantastic! They got the entire job done in less than 3 days. Jorge... the owner... would text me and send me pics daily. The place looks amazing! Jorge is a good man... honest and hard working. I highly recommend him and his team! And his prices are great also!
I had gotten an estimate for some basement work(needed suspended ceiling Installed, 1 wall Drywalled, Concrete Floor Stained & Sealed). That estimate was much higher than expected and I was tempted to try a DIY approach. I decided to give HomeAdvisor a try. After submitting my project description, HomeAdvisor gave me 2 names to expect contact within 24 hours. We were contacted by Absolute Drywall. We met and discussed the project, got an estimate, and I hired them to do the job. HomeAdvisor actually followed up to determine if we had been contacted and assured us that they were committed to satisfying our needs. HomeAdvisor also encouraged us to use the HomeAdvisor App. I downloaded it and tried it. However, it appears to crash or stop working on my phone(Android). The more important thing, though, is that the referral worked and the Services Provided through the referral actually met and exceeded our expectations.
They gave great suggestions on vendors to receive quotes from. There were enough options to get multiple estimates and all those vendors responded quickly. The only negative is that I have been contacted too many times asking how my project is progressing.
They really are great truly go above and beyond to help their customers always keeps in contact, so polite! I will definitely be using permanently! Thank you so much Home Advisor team!
Site was easy to use and provided me a connection to a professional that was courteous and stellar.
Angela contacted me initially and followed up to make sure that I had someone assign to my project.
I would very highly recommend Pauly's Power wash! They came on time! And did a superb job! And very reasonable!
Recent projects on Home Advisor have a) not gotten the number of responses I would have expected, and b) was disappointed at the lack of response by some of the recommended "pros" I have even had to go the the Yellow Pages and other sources to find "pros.' The site did not send any followup messages asking about the status of the project, or my satisfaction with the results.
One of the three business gave me an estimate and offered to do the work. One came out but did not give an estimate or follow up. One company didn't contact us at all. Home advisor contacted us by phone (Atlanta area code). They asked if my job was being addressed, but not my experience with the three recommended companies.
Chris came when he said he would; he fixed our trouble; he gave us an excellent price.
Cause started pouring in immediately Small fencing project that I couldn't do myself, I checked the site, but it sounds amazing, and literally got half a dozen phone calls within an hour
Dylan is a very nice and respectful young man. He replaced my sub floor in a bedroom, due to hot a water heater leak. It was a bigger job then we anticipated. He did an excellent job. I will be calling him again.
Excellent! Obtained a list of accepted contractors. Able to review the contractors and chose the right company.
MM electric had plumber install toilet and vanity sink job done very well MM electric had outside light sconce and gfc receptable installed again went very well, My issue was the storm door installation I bought the storm door and the kit which came with it They in turn hooked the door with the existing frame had to ask why there was a gap at the bottom of the door so they went back to the truck to retrieve the bottom sweep after they left I noticed they had not installed the window latch that was put in their truck also I called the company was told they would come thursday no show friday he showed up in the evening to install the bracket that they took what I am wondering what made them think those were extra pieces in the kit that didnot go with the door? I am giving them a higher rating just because they finally resolved the issue
The Electrician worked out well because I had them come out look at job and make bid. I have not had good experience with accepting and paying for bid before meeting people. The prepay bid thing does not allow for specifics of job, too general
As I said I could not contact the local office or the local manager. Both phones didn't work. The work was good and the price reasonable but I waited a little longer than he said and I could not contact him. Had to call national office to get them to make him call me. The workers were great and the job looks good but if you can't contact them that is a problem.
I contacted Home Advisor. They gave me a price for my project of $825. Said someone would come the next morning to do the job. A contractor texted me and said there was no way he could do the job for the pay he would be receiving. (Approximately $250) I told him we were paying HA $825. I called HA and told them no one would come and do the work for that price and told them that was wrong to charge me one amount and pay a contractor a fraction of it. I told them I wanted to cancel my request. In the meantime, they charged my credit card which was only to be charged upon completion of the project! Unbelievable. Then they told me I had to wait 5-7 days to get a refund. It is about 3 weeks later now, and I have received no refund. No job was ever performed, no contractor arranged work with me… nothing! They stole $825 dollars!
Great Contractor came and gave estimate and scheduled promptly and did a all-around. They showed up and started promptly.
Good. I wish I could find a Plumber and a Roofer like Robert that has integrity in his work.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
