The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Randy Reiniger added a wall, a bi-fold door, door casing, texture and baseboards to divide the long L-shaped living room/office and give me more privacy in my home office. His work is excellent! His attention to detail made the wall looks like it was build with the house. I particularly appreciated him taking his time to match the wall texture to the adjoining wall. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing work done inside their home.
Been an advertising customer for over a year.
When the Corona shutdown occurred here in New York, I asked to cancel the service. Was convinced to pause it instead. When they started charging me again I demanded they refund me and cancel the service.
They did not cancel, they did not reimburse me, and now they are STILL charging me.
And the rep refuses to reimburse me for their erroneous charges.
Do yourselves a favor, save your advertising dollars and STAY AWAY
If your live in California and are in the pool business please do me a favor don't sign up on home adviser they are a joke some guy named frank signed me up and trying to frigate out how to use it I was getting leads. I tried calling all those leads and emailing them I got no response so I just ignored them. Little did I know I was being charged and in one month I was charge 1000? And I couldn't get that money back. Super disappointed with this please please do me a favor if you hear from these guys or if you know anyone thinking of sign up don't do it they are a joke and do not help at all after dodging all of my calls to them and taking my money. If I could choose no stars I would
You will be told one thing and then get sent a bunch of leads that do not pertain to jobs that make it worth the "service" they do. Was suppose to be getting roof coating leads and they sent roof cleaning leads
I was specific when stating my needs about needing a new pool liner installed in my above ground pool. Instead home advisor listed my request out to every pool company in me area. Smh... Got calls from all kinds of companies that clean pools, install pools but no one that replaces pool liners. A waste of my effort and time
I would never trust this site for another referral. I am actually concerned for my safety as the contractors from this site know my location, seemed to canvas my home, yet never provided a bid and promised lots that was not delivered. Just horrible service... stay away!
Steer clear of this website.
I was looking on the website for some contractors. I started entering some of my information for an inquiry. I expected to find some phone numbers for contractors in the area and then later decided to leave the site. I did not even finish entering my inquiry. This website stored my information, created an account for me without my knowledge, and then random workers started calling me. I called homeadvisors' contact number and asked if they would delete my information. The worker I spoke to said they would not delete my own account unless I got a court order. Very sketchy service. Steer clear.
Home Advisor is the most thieving company that exists, it sells supposedly interested in hiring that they never answer the phone, or false people interested in less than 3 months charged my card more than $ 900 in leeds that did not answer the call, they did not answer the messages of text and neither the Emails. When you claim they wash their hands, they give you the money for the first two complaints, but then they wash their hands saying that they are not to blame, I do not understand how they do not verify the information or how they do not make the interested party commit to hiring the service because that is about selling a leed to provide a service. I do not recommend this company is a total fraud.
I have tried to use this service for 3 well-defined projects. Recommended/referred vendors, to a person, do not do the kind of work described clearly. The system is stupid beyond even normal internet-lack-of-artificial-or-other-intelligence. Avoid like the plague, it is mostly a scam to steal from contractors, but is a waste of consumer time too. With luck it will die the death it richly deserves soon..
I scheduled a minor electrical job and prepaid online when offered a discount. They were a no show and when I call I keep getting transferred or told to call another number. I've come to realize the entire thing is a scam!
Hello everyone! I own a cleaning business and was using HOMEADVISOR to get leads, most leads would not call me back or the phone number was not correct, some leads did work out. However, I was not going to renew with them and during this COVID situation and trying to balance a business. I noticed that HomeAdvisor did an automatic renewal. I called them and explained that I did not want to continue and that we were fighting for every dollar right now and please refund the renew fee that had not even posted to my account yet. I was informed that no one with HomeAdvisor can refund money, only credits, and that basically I was wasting my time trying to get my money back. This company would not honor a refund or even try to refund the money, please stay away from this dishonest company. I was told in the beginning, that you could not do business with HomeAdvisor without having general liability insurance, we canceled our insurance and now HomeAdvisor is saying that you don't need insurance to do business. Every time you speak to someone is a different story. Please, stay away and try to sale on your own, it is just not worth it. No one ever has a truthful story of how to do business with this company. How you can take money from a company, when they do not want to do business with you is crazy.
With all the ads and emails received, I thought I give Homeadvise a try. Booked a lawn mowing job, straight forward, prepaid, and got the membership. 1st appointment set, the "Pro" can't make it so it was rescheduled for two days later. Meanwhile, got a call and then texted by the PRO asking for additional $$$ and to write them a check when they come out on the rescheduled appointment. I've advised the PRO that the job has been paid and I am not about to double pay for the same job. The PRO never showed and "Daisy" with Homeadvisor customer service was only willing to provide 50% refund for the above incidence.
Normally, I don't do reviews; however, I thought by learning and knowning more info in advance, others wouldn't step into the same trap.
I understand the business model and the concept is nice; however, the reality is just completely different.
Avoid Avoid Avoid!
P.s.: Not by HomeAdvisor. I got myself a local lawn maintenance company to do the job for slightly less $ and it was done the second day after the initial call.
Do not waste your time because you will have fixed price for the job. My order was to paint my Apartment and they said it will cost you 2 days = 16 hours so it little over $850. However if pro need to come back he will have to charge you more.
Also be very specific about job details, also they cancelled and never showed up 3 times. It is total waste of time and energy. Garbage
Pro could Milking it for 2 more days and I have to pay double... forget it.
Stay away from them! Reps use hard sells to get pros to join. I made the mistake of giving them my banking information. They agreed to charge my account $100 to get started with "free leads." The next day, they had debited my account $300 and I hadn't even activated the app. After reading the horrible reviews of their scams, I was able to get out, but I believe they would have drained me dry. They are BAD NEWS.
I paid ahead of time to have my lawn mowed. First date nobody shows, second date same thing. I asked for a refund and they want to give me credit for a service! Are they serious? Why would I want to be ripped off a third time. I want a full refund!
Dave and his employee James landscaped our condo and completed the job in one day! We could not be happier! Dave listened to me and made helpful suggestions. He is extremely knowledgeable and I learned a lot. The finished job is beautiful and the cost was very reasonable. Before they left- James asked me if I wanted him to change anything and Dave sprayed off our driveway! Very happy!
I own a contracting company, I looked into home advisor 3 years ago when I was just starting decided I did not want to pay them to "help" give me leads on potential jobs. They have continued to call over the last 3 years. The last 2 weeks i have received a call from the same rep EVERYDAY! I have asked to be removed from his calling list first he was nice then everyday after he has become more rude. DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM!
CAMERON BECKEM, AND HIS UNPROFFESSIONAL HAS NO IDEA WHAT SHE IS DOING (STUPERVISOR) KARIE CALL ME A THIEF. THEY ARE BOTH FRAUDS BY EVERY SENCE OF THE WORD. CAMERON IS NOT EVEN A PAINTER, HES AN INSURANCE SALESMAN, KARIE PEASNALL. WOW WHAT CAN I SAY, IF AND WHEN WE CAN GET HER TO SHOW UP, BRINGS HER BEST FAKENESS, IM SURE SHE IS MUTTERING UNDER HER STRUGGLING BREATH. DO NOT USE. BAD BAD BAD,.
With all the hype, I was optimistic that they'd be a good lead generator. I know we're beating prices of everyone in our market because we're new and I've done my homework. We didn't close one deal. 70% of the leads were not reachable and the other 30% were just price shopping with no sense of costs. I think the tool is too eager to capture customers that are not really serious and ready to buy.
I was searching for heat pump and was forced to enter info. I then clicked to not get connected with pro/advisor. I received no options but 1 for people in my area. Later at 10pm i get a call and text from a pro. I ask to unsubscribe and this is the message I got. I feel bad for the pro, but home advisor is running a shady business forcing consumers to pros!
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
