The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

And No JOB for you,
Home advisor pro are pure $#*!ERY
We were given the run around after booking a plumber. Without letting us know, the job was outsourced to two separate plumbers. We decided to cancel the job when one of the plumbers called us and admitted he couldn't help us. He said he'd cancel the order with Home Advisor. The next morning a different plumber we hadn't been told about showed up. Home Advisor told us they would not cancel the order because it was less than 2 hours notice. Now we are out $232. Calling them resulted in a complete runaround and more frustration. Stay away!
Unreliable & totally unprofessional! You can book your appt online all you want it does not guarantee a plumber will come they will just reschedule your appt without asking you first. They don't bother calling you the day before to tell you the plumber is not going to come either, so you waste a day of work as well.
Like everyone else said here. This same happens to me. They are a bunch of liars. They just want get to your account and take as much money they can. Thank God I cancel fast enough otherwise will clean up all my account. They sending fake jobs charging for everything and lying. No one who work for them is competent know what their job entails too.
Please everyone don't even Sign with them. You not gonna get any jobs or business but u will lose for sure lots of money.
Purchased their guaranteed price. Some idiot came out said the computers was over heating told us to purchase a glue and it would connect the cooling fans to the mother boards better. Did as they said. I called them back got another confirmation on someone else was going to fix it. Then got a cancellation stating my money would would be refunded in 3-5 days 10 days later no money. Took the computer to another company they said because of home advisors recommendation the wires are fried now I'm spending of 300.00 to have it required. Do not ever use them
Thank you Home Advisor for your recommendation for Sunnyside Painting. This is the second time I have hired them to complete a job. They came in and stained and sealed our new deck. I cannot express what a wonderful job they did. It looks amazing. They only use quality materials but do extremely quality job. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. They are awesome!
I recently began looking for a job with homeadvisor. I got a call from a sales rep a week ago telling me to sign up. I spent some time talking to her about how it worked and everything. I did not want to sign up but at the end of the call I was charged a membership fee. They had my card info because about a year and a half ago I was also looking for a job with them. They charged me right after the call. I called three times and every time the word refund came up I was hung up on. I am outraged they are still in business. Don't give them any of your info, you will receive spam calls, texts, and unauthorized charges. It is ridiculous.
I signed up yesterday for a roofer to come and BID the job out tomorrow. But guess what?
THEY CHARGED ME 1,059.00 DOLLARS TODAY! The contractor never bid me on the job, has never been to my house. The work is obviously not done.
I immediately called my bank but now I have to cancel my card and then spend all day tomorrow calling all the auto-pay sites I have signed up with over the years. I will call the contractor tomorrow morning and advise him of the situation and tell him he is more than welcome to come and bid the job still but that Home Advisor is now out of the picture. I have cancelled the fraudulent payment for work that was never completed and cancelled my card.
HOME ADVISOR IS A SCAM!
This service put me in touch with a scammer. This cleaning lady which was hired on 6/30 and we paid her cash from a bank ATM is claiming after almost a month later that one of the hundred dollar bills that she was given was fake and I owe her another $100. Are you serious? First of all, no store or bank will let you leave after presenting fake money. Isnt that why George Floyd was killed and the cops was called because the store owner called the cops on him because they said he presented fake money? I don't see how they would let a black woman present fake money and let her leave with it.
This is a serious accusation to make on a person and Home Advisor did nothing. I even tried to send them the text messages proving she's trying to scam me.
Horrible company! Never ever will I deal with them again and I have since made several complaints against the company Muscle and Woman LLC who is trying to scam me. I'm sure I'm not the first one this company has tried to scam and it needs to stop.
The leads from this company are the worst I have ever seen and cost close to 30 dollars for nothing. Leads are contacted within 2 minutes of the call and I am informed they have no interest
Will not use home advisor again. Had a home advisor HVAC professional come to my house. Looked at my central air unit. Said it was old & needed replaced. Never lifted a finger to take a look at it. Cost me $50 for 3 minutes. Found my own HVAC professional, a real professional. He freed the fan & inspected the unit. Said it was in good working condition. It's running good. Still have the idiots I had come, calling me trying to sell me a new unit. I will NEVER use Home advisor again. I tell everyone I know, never use the site. It's a scam... not professional...
Handyman did not complete the job correctly. Pipes leak after installing facets. I called but no call back.
I have paid for service and have to call someone else. HOME ADVISORS IS A SCAM.
I had an agent call me about using Home Advisors to get leads for my business. His technique of persuading my interests was perfectly formatted to string me along, as it sounds so perfect and what I need, that I am totally sold on it. Then he drops the extra charges of a website which he says is mandatory in order to use the service, which ends up costing even more money. By this time, the opportunity sounds so good that even though I am feeling like an idiot for letting him play with my emotions and slap me with that part at the end, that it's just too perfect and worth paying the extra for all the extras anyways. Even though I seen what was happening through his manipulation, I was still willing to give it a try.
He told me he would follow up with an email with all the information he just discussed with me, after the call and would follow up with me a week later.
I did not receive any email at all until a week later when he told me he would follow up with me. I told him in reply that I was disappointed that he never sent the info that he promised he would send after the phone call and that because of that I will not be using their service. If they can't follow through and be responsible, how can I trust them?
His reply was that he sent the email and other bull$#*!. This was not true. The email was never sent. I looked everywhere for an email from them and there was not any, except for his follow up reply.
These people are scammers. They are not to be trusted. After reading the other reviews from people who have dealt with their services, and checking out their prices from the perspective of being the person on the other end who is paying to hire potential companies from their site at their fixed price, this is nothing I want to have anything to do with for sure.
It's obvious before you get into it to stay far away from it, whatever angle you choose ( not) to participate in concerning their service.
How do people like this end up taking up our television watching time with commercials? They should be banned.
Two contractors responded and their representatives came out to survey the work to be done. We went with Vegas Valley plumbing. They sent a cost for the work. They re-scheduled twice. Four hours before they were to arrive to do the work the owner called and said they couldn't do the work for the price they quoted. Instead of $375 they needed $737.
I could go on and on but just don't use them. They will not let you talk to any supervisor or manager, nobody answers the phones when you have a problem, no compensation for contractors that fail to show up, and they simply don't care. I have it all in email from them and still no call or ability to talk to a manager after 4 direct requests.
Kept canceling the service for ceiling repair that was prepaid. The third appointment I received a text from the repair person and gave him all details. Then he texted and said you canceled? I said no. He said Home Advisor just pulled him off job. Next day received text from Home Advisor saying contractor pulled out. Horrible company to deal with.
Are project was contracted to another company that has the worst customer service so when the man who was suppose to do the project showed up 30 minutes late and then didn't have the right tools we offered are own tools which where left a complete mess. What made it worse is that the job was not finished when they left. I would never recommend this service to anyone we paid way to much for an absolutely horrible job!
Excellent service and product. Sales person was knowledgeable and precise. Installation went smooth. Thank you
This is a TOTAL joke. Fake leads. Promised $20-$40 per lead, every lead sent was charging $40-$65. What a waste of time & money. Condescending sales people at HomeAdvisor.
HomeAdvisor sent the contractors to do an entirely different job than I had asked for. Wanted outside deck stained sent contractors to paint an interior room. Now fighting for a refund. Run... don't walk...
The contractors were Great even though they were unable to do the job.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
