The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

I went through home advisors for an electrician to come by to give me an estimate on doing some electrical work for putting in a hot tub. So I got a call from Parker and sons to come by between 11:00 and 4 pm been waiting for them to come by for my estimate only to get a call almost at 3:00pm for them to tell me there not going to make it, other customers came first. I do not recommend this company as they will not keep appointments.
If I could I would give HomeAdvisor negative stars, the worest investment I've ever made and prolly will make. I got on HomeAdvisor n aggressively took every lead I could, called, texted all my customers within a hour of them accepting my request. I only got 2 jobs and made 300, dollars in total, but HomeAdvisor charged me for all 43 of my leads so now I have to pay them 1700 dollars, push I already paid 300 for a 1yr membership. (I've never spent 2000 on anything not even a car) Whoever made HomeAdvisor is the best scammer to ever live. And when I get older and actually have money for a lawyer imma sue the $#*! outta them.
I have had good results with some (40%) of the "Pro"s that they sent to take care of my yard. After three pretty lackluster performances I had a Pro reschedule on me, and then ghosted. Cue attempting to use the "customer service". Nothing like calling into the dedicated helpline they had for automated jobs, being told "average wait time is 11 minutes" and being on hold for an hour - hung up on at the 20 minute mark three times in a row. They did eventually get back to me and refunded the non-completed service, but the ease of use of their help system desperately leaves something to be desired.
Basically, if you get a good professional, you might have a good service. But that's going to be in spite of homeadvisor, not because of them. No vetting, no quality control, no customer service.
I contacted HomeAdvisor for irrigation installation they had All County irrigation to contact me all county installed the irrigation and did a fantastic job they also a WiFi controller and set it up and it's working great I'm very pleased
They pushed me a lot to hire a plan/membership as a professional giving me 30 days to be out(excluded from the membership). So they forced me and now when I got a position job in a company even after 15 days I got that they don't want to giving me the money back. BESIDES I never was hires by any homeowner. Very sad. They want just MONEY MONEY and zero tolerance even under the law.
I will start by saying that the service pro that they sent, Stanley Steamer did an excellent job on our carpets and were very professional and courteous.
I was booked out Approximately 5 weeks for my appointment. Initially it was set for 10: am. Closer to the date I received a text saying they had to changer the time to 8:30am. Ok. No big deal. On the day of the appointment 9:15, still no service people. Now on HomeAdvisor they don't tell you who they have booked for your service so you have no way to contact the actual service person/s. 9:30 am and still no one. I called my HomeAdvisor agents # and got a message, " Thank you for calling" and it beeped 3x and hung up on me. My husband went online to contact them by email and we were told they couldn't help us?! We called another # we looked up and we were told that they would transfer us to the people that "take care of that", we were transferred and the called was dropped a few minutes later. Horrible customer service. We have many home projects to be done in our new home and we will NEVER use HomeAdvisor again.
It's a rip off I paid up to $100 dollars on just one lead that was window shopping and $80 for one that didn't even answer their phone that's just to name a few. They will never refund your money. They give you "credits" that you can use for future customers but once you reach a limit of credits they won't give you anything back. I called them a few times to try and get some credits back and they will try and argue with you. It's really frustrating.
I can say I did get quick response for a concrete job I was looking to get done. Set an appointment and got a call the same day to reschedule. Home advisor call me on a follow-up so I rescheduled. Low and behold. Received the same reschedule mess 30 minutes before the 2nd appointment Torpee Creek... bad business.if you're not reliable to keep and appointment I sure don't trust you to do a good job on time. Hone advisor this contractor is giving you a bad name... I'm done trying to go through them.
Sixteen days ago, I scheduled electrical work via HomeAdvisor's "fixed price services." Big mistake. I learned too late that these services are overseen by a sham company called "Handy." How did I discover this? Well, after waiting all day for my prepaid service "professional" to show up and do the work on the day scheduled, to no avail (and a phone call to HomeAdvisor customer support that conveniently got disconnected after I was on hold for half an hour), I get a text message the NEXT day from said "professional" asking when I wanted the work done. We agreed that he should come out the coming Wednesday. Well, Wednesday rolls around, and my assigned electrician sends me a text message stating that Handy hasn't paid him for the last several jobs he's done and he's not going to do my work for me until he gets paid. I don't fault the guy - I don't expect anyone to work without being paid.
I was forced to have another electrician, hired independently and not via the $#*!show that is HomeAdvisor or its ethically bankrupt sidekick Handy, perform the work. Nonetheless, there's still a debit of more than three hundred dollars posted to my account, and I've heard only crickets from HomeAdvisor. There's a word for when you take someone's money, and don't provide the goods or services agreed upon in exchange for said money: THEFT. It's a crime. If I continue to get the cold shoulder from HomeAdvisor, this matter is going to the Pennsylvania attorney general's office.
John did an excellent job for us. He even uncovered some extra problems that he was able to fix. I am already planning a return visit.
Took $400 for 15 min work from presidential movers in Greenville sc no estimate just a black taking money from the retired
You'd think that I got burned once by them, I'd never try again. But stupid me, I did. Got contractor to come and repair fence. Wrote check for 1/2. Came back, worked an hour, and then had all kinds of excuses. Latest, Home Advisor finally reached him, he stated he has no interest in returning but that he's aware I have his tools in my garage. Home Advisor said they were closing complaint and in so many words, said they were washing their hands with this complaint and that I need to work it out with him. Never have heard from contractor since July 24th and now it's August 8th. Home Advisor wouldn't even call me with their update, only email. Terrible companyt. On hold for 42 minutes until I got someone. Now I have a lawyer on the case, stating to contractor, return my money and you will get tools back. Fat chance I'll ever see a penny and Home Advisor does NOT CARE
Scheduled & signed up for yearly member fee. No one showed up to mow the lawn on Friday August 7th. Called to inform they were a "No Show". Apologized for ever as if that was to correct their error. Re-scheduled for Monday, August 10th. Received text notification that they will be there Tuesday August 11th. This is not the end of the story.
Do not hire *******@dhillconstruction.com.
My beautiful new custom build was impacted negatively due to very poor drywall. From hangers destroying electrical wires to finishers not covering seams. This business cares little for home owners. I had stolen property, texture overspray on my tools, stained tongue and groove, bent screens and garbage debris left on my property. The garage was supposed to be textured too but the finish is so terrible and embarrassing, why bother. The owner owes me a refund but has yet to pay and my kitchen has 6 seams so visible I hate to even look at it. Do not go with this company. They are not quality oriented and do nothing to fix their work. See the pictures.
Poor customer service, no follow through. So much time wasted.
Again, do yourself a favor and go to another source.
Will write to BBB on this awful company. They have the nerve to advertise on tv as well. Pathetic
M Furusa electrical is a rip-off contractor say away from his scams. Charges are whey out of line for common electrical service. I feel bad to write this negative review but be cautious when using website. Get 3 estimates and use the middle one.
I was charged 1205 for just clicking 8 leads none of this leads responded, I'm sure it was fake most of this leads had same phone# and extensions. I was only two weeks with them and got ripped off they threaten/harassed me stating that they will send to collection and sent final notice, I was forced to pay as I didn't want face collection. I wish I had read all reviews before signing up with them. I saw so many bad reviews everywhere specially BBB hopefully someone stop this company taking advantages of small companies by providing fake leads.
I have tried Home Advisor(HA) three times all ending up with terrible outcomes.
1. I get bombarded with phone calls that start within minutes and continues for days.
2. On two of the three occasions I have gone with HA, the help received was by a handyman and not skilled labor.
3. On all three occasions, I had to seek out another contractor and have the work redone.
4. Most recently, a roofing contractor was hired to re-waterproof a balcony at a cost of over $4000. 00. I had several other contractors out and a technical rep form the product manufacture, all whom independently told me the problem was the way the contractor did the application. Now the contractor states that the decking needs total demolition and replacement and the job as been re-quoted at over $9800. 00. The attached pictures show the condition the contractor left the job from their experimentation to identify why the work failed.
I will never rely on Home Advisor for referrals as my experience has made me feel they do an insufficient job of screening professionals and thus as with me, recommend unskilled, unethical, and unprofessional labor.
Home Advisor is a company's worst night mare. They are the biggest scam! They send so many junk leads and when you try to get a credit for the lead, they do not credit your account. We have used them for advertising over the past few years and have had nothing but trouble. We have spent way more than we have made. If you are a Professional do not go with Home Advisor for advertising. They do not do what they say they are going to do.
At first you get a call saying they need a contractor in your part of town... making you think that you'll have an exclusive territory because they desperately need a contractor and you won't be charged unless you accept the lead. DON'T FALL FOR IT!... the leads are NOT exclusive and they continue to charge your card even though you have not accepted their worthless leads. Now they are sending me a bill for $400+ since I quit. F#*& them!
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
