The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Best painters ever, WOW! They worked long hours, did a perfect job, cleaned up & very professional.
Very pleased with his experience and I would ask for him in the future if needed!
1. Their leads are terrible. One woman put in a request, I called her. She wanted a water heater installed. We agreed to a price, she bought the water heater, and then proceeded to text me and ask me to install it for free. I said no. Over the next 2 weeks, she put in a request 3 more times. So home advisor charged me 4 times for the same lead! Two of the times were a day after each other. Their system should catch this.
2. When I called about this. I did not get a call back for 2 weeks. I was busy, so 2 weeks later I called again. I asked for a supervisor to call me back. I was told they would call me back in 20 minutes. An hour later I called again. I told the rep to just close the account. He tried to play down the fact they charged me 4 times for the same lead and tried to play up the fact that they were willing to refund it. I told him he wasted my time making me call. If they cared about their contractors their system would catch that and they would call their contractors back. Terrible company.
Superb service was rendered by the technician as he cleaned th surfce and surrounding area. Technician was knowledgeable and infomative.
Very pleased overall and relieved we finally made the needed repairs.
They directed me to a local contractor who was a perfect choice for this project
Excellent and had several to choose from. Everything went well. He went above and beyond to accommodate when the hot tub was delayed 8 weeks. He stayed in touch and did a fantastic job. Hired him for more wiring and fan installation in attic. Highly recommend! Thanks home advisor.
Filled out a "form", and within minutes, I was contacted by the perfect person to fix my dryer! We communicated via internet, and made an appointment. What a relief to find someone here, rather than on Craigslist! Seriously!
Everything done to my expectations and no delays. Loved it!
Excellent from first interview to final inspections
Very good. Job was done well and was cleaned up. Will employ again
Some of the verbiage was hard to understand; especially, for first time users!
Had the dryer duct cleaned. Team did a quick cleaning. No mess left.
I had a problem with a light fixture and they gave me a few names, both were responsive. The first one who came over fixed the problem in under an hour.
Easy fast email response. The trimmer knew what he was doing
All aspects of my gate and fence repair could not have been better!
I selected three prospects, but "Great Scott" was the only one to contact me. He did a great job.
I was installing a new sodded lawn, found a contractor that "sounded" great in the beginning. Later found out he was more of a tree service than landscaper. Contacted HomeAdvisor over costly damage to a sewer line the contractor said he would take care of, he didn't. After months and months of emails, texts, calls, there was no answer from the contractor. Called HomeAdvisor. They said they would contact the contractor. Still I heard nothing. I finally told HomeAdvisor I would sue him for the cost of the lawn, I also left numerous poor reviews regarding the contractor. After about month, I finally received a call from HomeAdvisor indicating the contractor would call. They told me they had already paid me, but didn't.
Long story short... HomeAdvisor stopped his advertising until he paid me for the damages he caused. Then HomeAdvisor wanted me to place a review on their website, I did; but it wasn't a good review. The review was rejected by HomeAdvisor. SO they only want good reviews, not real reviews.
HomeAdvisor did help me get reimbursed for the monies owed in exchange for a good review!
It was a positive experience. I submitted my request early in the morning and received a quick response from a good vendor.
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
