This was my first time using Home Advisor. I found the reviews to be helpful.
This company cold called me trying to convince me to set up an account. Their background check was $300 and they told me they wouldn't charge me unless the background check passed. They said they would send a test sms message to my business line (which they never did), and an email, which was received two days later. (And of course, they couldn't use my proper business email because their email TLD verification is over a decade old.)
My personal record is as squeaky clean as they will ever see. I called today because they charged my account, but have had ZERO follow up. The point of contact was magically unreachable. When I called the main business line, they couldn't find my account because they had put the wrong phone number in the account. Eventually, they told me that they couldn't verify my background check and were cancelling the account. Pathetic waste of everyone's time.

This review is for the set-price service. Carpet cleaner was scheduled to show up at 10 am. Got a text at 815 am saying they cancelled with no explanation. The house needed to go on the market so this work needed to be done and I took the day off from work. Tried to call Home Advisor and their voice mail said they weren't even taking phone calls that day, so I couldn't even reach them. Home Advisor reps couldn't even tell me who it was I was supposed to meet, no phone number. The call center people sound like a group of bored teenagers. Working from their bedrooms. Home Advisor is like Angie's list: It's BS
I have used home advisor for two years to find landscapers, dryer repair, plumbers, and housekeepers. I only had one less than perfect referral in two years. I still trust home advisor to provide reputable professionals.

I needed to find someone to refinish my mother-in-law's floors in two weeks. I am from our-of-state, so I so I had no prior knowledge about where to start. Using Home Advisor, I had two qualified candidates come to her house and offer quotes within 24 hours. Work started the next week and finished on time. We are thrilled with the result and will use Home Advisor again.
Great as stated earlier. Mr. Alejandro Mancilla is a knowledgeable professional. I'm very pleased. Consequently, I asked for the backyard lawn to also be included in the project.
I went online and just mentioned "plumbing issue" and within 30 minutes I received four calls from different services. I got on the phone with one and he told me he would be at my door within 2 hours. They showed up on time. Spent four hours dealing with a clogged pipe in the laundry area which was really a clog in the main sewer just outside my house.
